Does anyone have good cop stories?

I'll start it off, well I was on my old 2003 Honda 250EX and was going in 5th Gear down a long stretch of road in CT. In the distance, I see a cop so quickly I turn around and high tail it back the other way. The road was long and there was no trails nearby for a about 2 miles. So I'm over revving in 5th Gear going about 65 on my tuned out 250EX. THe cop sees me and turns his lights and sppeds up. He gets within 10 feet behind me and I slam on the brakes and whip a u-turn, and speed around a blind corner and go in my neighbors driveway and into his backyard. (I knew he wouldn't care). He sees the story unfolding, tells me to cover it with the tarp and come inside his house. The cop was patrolling for about 5 hours and then was gone.

damn you got lucky!

i know 2 people personally that got their **** taken by the cops. one guy has a pretty well set up rator and his little bro was taking it down the street (25 mph zone) and then tried to run from the cops, got his quad impounded and its going to cost him a month and 1200 to get it back

another guy tried to run from the cops on his TRX450R, down a dirt road, obviously got cought and its been impounded for a long time, and it will cost over 2K to get it back.

back about 2 months ago i was at my friends house, he has 2 modded 450r's so we went for a ride, then did some stunting at the library parking lot evidently someone complained and we saw 2 cops comeing with their lights on, we hightailed it out of there the cops had no chance to keep up so we finally found a creek that had fairly shallow water, we had no way to get in it easly so our only choice was to try to jump them in, my friend went first and he flipped his on a rock at the bottom and i tried a different way real fast and i hit a drop off..so here we are with 2 flipped quads and we hear the cop sirens im like oh god..the sound flew past us, neither of us dont know how lucky we are but were pretty damn lucky, only problems was i flooded the one i was driveing and he bent his steering stem, we camped at the creek till night fixing the r's so they could ride, then we had to go up the creek and find a way out, we finally did his parents pratictally killed us, im glad i didnt get caught..im 15 and i already got 9 infractions on my record if i get 3 more im screwd from getting my licence till im 18, that was over 6 infractions right there we counted it lmao.

I feel for the ones that got caught, sometimes ill stop and ill tell them im a friend of another cop's son thats well known so i get off SOMETIMES it depends on what i did, when i run i usually get away depends what im driveing haha..i hate cops sometimes..more reason to piss them off

over all its alright to stop reason they got those fines was cos they probably ran and got caught or did some serious damage or rode on a highway (haha) so like if your on a back road and your no speeding or doing anything wrong might as well stop then take a chance, here the cops cut us slack when we stop they are tired of the chases they get, i guess it depends on the area where you live

i dont hate cops, the ones around here have much bigger crimes to focus on and they usually dont give me any **** but i dont ride on the street often.

i dont have any bad experiances with cops so im cool with them, one time we were riding by the port of sac, i guess you arent supposed to ride there or at least i heard. anyways a cop drives by, sees us riding around and waves us up, we come up and all he did was check if we were green sticker(california emissions crap) so its cool

I got some but im a say the short one.

Me my friend and my moms bf kid was flying up and down the road. Well my friends 400ex had the stock pipe or else had his fmf on with no packing i dont remember. The raptor had a stock pipe with the spark arestor out.
Back then my quad was still a 400ex with a 400ex motor and the stock pipe was choped off 5" and had no spark arestor and i cut the whole baffle out so it was about 2dbs quieter than running no pipe. Well up and down the roads for a good hour. My quad being so loud it would make the houses i go by shake and it was a nice spring day so people probably had their windows open. Well hour past. Me and my friend were getting bored of just going up and down the road. So we wanted to go all the way around which is like 6 miles. We were about to and a cop was sneekingup the road. We fly back to my house the geroge door opening as we pull up and get in and shut the garage door. Seemed kinda jams bond like. Well cop was gone down the road so my moms BF takes out his motor cycle and goes down the road to make the cop think it was him making the noise since it has loud stock pipes. Well cop didnt see him so he still thought it was quads and lator we were sitting in the drive way on the quads talkin and cop pulls up and sais to stay off road and then he leaves.

out of at least 10 times having cops come for driving on road i only got a worning. I even snuk away one time on a 115+db pocket bike b4.

by all means im not proud of what happend, this thread can even help other people who read it on what to do..and of course what not to do. all my wrong doings has been on atv's, i never destroy property (the library had no one working and my grandma owns it) and ride in restricted areas without asking. mainly only getting in trouble on back roads getting from point a to point b to where i need to go, but sometimes cops just happen to be there and not all are very leanient..theres 2 cops that know me well and when they catch me they give it to me the hard way. my friends dad is a cop, he personally thinks me getting busted in this area is stupid but he isnt able to patroll around here so theres nothing i can do but just ride and take a chance..and hope i dont get caught. i got 2 options, sell my atv and move on, or keep rideing. that is a easy choice of course, keep rideing! most of these stories are from people who dont have a place to ride but enjoy the sport too much to give it up makeing them ride certain distances. rideing on the highway..is something you should seriously avoid unless your quad is street legal. ive seen videos on people doing it and their damn proud of it, things like that messes it up for everyone also always wear your helment..cops seem to like it when you do and give you slack but depends on what kind of person they are. running from them is most definatly against the law no matter what, i prefer to pull over but in certain occasions i need to try to run, like when i had my friends 450r, if i got pulled over and this cop hated atv riders and that 450r got impounded, id be screwd out my mind. overall we cant help it and gotta just take a risk, thats what liveing on the edge feels like.

Well about two winters ago we had about 2 ft of snow. So i called one of my friends up to my house. He lives about a halfmile away. He rides up and stays for about two hours and we decide to head down to his house. there are no cars on the road and they werent plowed very well. We come around a turn and see a cop sitin in one of the driveways talking to someone. We blow by em and and look back and see the lights come on. Me and my friend take off him on his blaster and me on my mojave. Well we get to his house and rip into the driveway, park in the back of his house and about 5 min. later we see the cop drive by. The cop was a freakin idiot to even try to chase us on a snow covered road. There were no cars on the road and we werent causing any harm to anyone. Then later at about 12 oklock at night I ride my raptor down to the Texico station to get gas. There are about 3 other quads down there fillin up too. I heard them talkin about how state troopers are pullin alot of ATVr's over. I am sitin there thinkin to myself who is stupid enough to actually pull over. And then all the sudden a cop in a Expedition pulls into the gas station and we all just take off. It was kinda funny to see all our reactions. Through the pump back in and screw on our gas caps. We ripped out of there in about 5 seconds. It was a pretty exciting day. Welp thats my cop story.

we have alot of cops chases here, local quad and dirtbikes got caught around our area ( they got caught with my bros dirtbikes) so there is under cover cops, cruisers and cops on quads around, so we have our hands ful on run aways. I got caught once, 330 to get it out the next day.

I dono, someone said they went a hole 6 miles down a gravel road, thats nothing not trying to brag but we go down very high used paved roads.

I live on a dirt road kind of out in the country, the cops don't mind if we ride down the roads so long as we're not flying and causing trouble. So one day I was playing catch with my little brother in the front yard and I could hear someone getting all up on their machine. The guy down the road from me has a raptor, and I assumed it was him. About 30 seconds later here he comes hauling a** down the road with someone I've never seen before following him on a Rincon and both of them being chased by a cop. The guy on the raptor goes through the ditch and into the corn field across from my house. But the Rincon was going way to fast and tried the same maneuver, he flipped it, it rolled about four times and he was left lying in the middle of the road. The cop jumps out of the Explorer, runs up to him and says: "Are you ok?" The rider says: "Yeah, I'm fine, I've rolled it worse than that before." To which the cop replies: "Well that's real good because now I'm going to take you to jail and impound your four wheeler, how do you feel now?"

i got caught once.so i was riding my cr 85 just puttin down to hte end of my road and it was summer so it was like 8 and it was about 75 out.so im just crusin in like 4th gear and i slow down to turn around,and i start accelerating and my shifter brok so i cant shift so im stuck in 2nd,but im only 2 miles from home.but i look at this side road and see a cop and he chases me,but i just pulled over cuz all i had was 2nd gear,i didint get fined he just said he saw me going fast heading hte other way and said to just go slow and stay on the side if i need to go on the road.cops arent really *******s most ppl just dont respect them so then they can be *******s.

First off i just want to say your best bet it always just to stop! I have been pulled over maybe 4x before and everytime I stopped I simply got a warning or even was asked directions LOL. Treat them with respect and decency and most likely you will get off. Even if you don't consider the options, a $80 fine or getting your wheeler impounded?

Anyways i must tell a GREAT story that happened to a friend of mine. Let me tell ya, this kid is pretty ignorant and doesn't use his head much. Well he loves ripping around on the roads with his 400ex. Anyways one day he was out riding and whipping fish tails at some pretty high speeds. (I was not with him, this is just how the story was told to me).

So he's on this road with very few houses, but as hes riding by one there happens to be someone working on the roof of it. Anyways just as he reaches the house he slides a little too far to one side and rolls the quad into the ditch.

The man working on the roof rushes over to what appears to be helping my friend. However, much to his dismay the man opens his wallet and flashes a Game Commissioners badge in his face. What are the chances!! So my friend gets to his feet and attempts to take off on the quad. Sure enough it's flooded and won't start, so the Commissioner grabs his keys and calls the cops.

Fortuently his machine was not impounded, but he still had to go to court and pay a large fine. Not to mention some pretty nasty brusies. And just to add icing to the cake, a family that was walkin on the road when he was riding came foward and told the police that my friend also flipped them off as he drove by! Something which he prolly did, but still denies to this day....

Bottom line, don't be a dumb*** stay off the roads and out of trouble!

well one time me n my friend on his modded blasterr were ridin down this road going from a trail to a trail he was in like 5th i was in like 3rd and he turns onto the trail and i start to slow down and downshift to make the turn and all of a sudden it stalls and dies. So i hold the clutch in and roll to the side of the road and get off and push it off the road onto the side and i turn around and here comes a Tahoe State Trooper lol im like oh S**t and i jump on and try to start it but it woudlnt start so he pulls up and gets out and im like crap and i sit there and hes liek get off the four wheeler so i get off and that was a week after i got it so it wasnt registered or insured yet so hes like is your friend gona ride in circles until i go down and get him becuase he was riding up and down the trail which is down a lil hill so you coudl see. So then i wave him to come up and he drives up and parks it and the trooper goes wheres your license and registration im liek dont have any and my friend goes i dont have mine with me its at home so hes liek how do u i kno theses arnt stolen i can impound theses and were like we kno and then after talkin a lil while like where you from why u up here and stuff he goes what do u think i shoudl do then? i go give us a warning hes liek ok i catch u around here again im impounding it and goes is that one gonna start and i go idk so i get on and turn the reserve on and it starts up lol i ran outta gas when i was literally across the street from the trail entrance and if i got to that there was no way he would of caught me. Then i start it up and my friend starts his blaster up and the state trooper goes boy that thing sounds mean and my friend goes oh thanks he goes no not yours his (talking about my 400) haha but the weird thing is theres never any cops around here. Like we dont have villiage or city cops or anything we have the state troopers that roam around here because i live in a town i guess lol so theyre never around unless someone calls them so he must of been going somewheres or on his way back from there and seen us. lol

FastestBlaster, you are the luckiest kid that i have probably every heard of. I got a good story about a friend of mine. Just to give you some background on the situation... in the town i live in the cops have nothing to do but chase us around and they pull out every trick up the their sleeve to try to catch us. One certain days of the year when almost everyone would be riding, about 3/4 of the police force will dedicate their day to chasing quads. They'll lay out spike strips in the trails, block off any exit out of the trails with cars, throw tear gas at us, and hide in the bushes and jump out and take the keys out of the quads (that really doesnt work when your pinned through the trails). Oh yeah i forgot to mention that they have 5 quads of there own (2 400ex's, 2 ranchers, and 1 king quad 700) and the trails are pretty wide so they also take the Dodge Darangos that they would patrol in through the woods. After doing all of this for about 3 years now they still havnt caught 1 kid.

Ok now for the story... Last year my friends older brother bought a raptor 660 and they to go test it out through the woods. so a whole bunch of people went ridin (like 15 or 20 i think), including my friend who was riding a warrior. This was one of those days where the cops went all out to catch people. So the group had to cross a street to get from one trail to the next and the entire group crossed except for my friend because a car was coming down the road (he though the car was his grandpas so he let it go by), right after that car past a cop pulls out onto the street and turns on his lights and starts going to block in my friend. My friend panics after seeing the cop and stalls his quad in the middles of the road. When he gets it back started, he pops the clutch and spun teh back tires. This fishtailed the quad right into a telephone pole that was up like 2 feet away from the trail entrance. so he immedietly kicks it into reverse and as soon as that happened the cop pulls up right behind him to block him in. my friend running directly into the cop, then kicks it into 1st and hightails it into the woods. Im assuming that this is what caused 3/4 of the police force to start chasing the kids. While this is all happening there are like 7 kids piled up onto my other friends 300ex, two kids ridin pocket bikes through the woods, and a whole bunch of other s#!t that goin on. So at the moment the group just peaced on that one cop, but there were a bunch more that were heading into the woods. While there running one of the kids chains snaps on his banshe and to give you an idea on how bad these cops are at chasing, the kid fixed his chain before they could catch up/find them. The story basically ends with everyone gettin away and the cops getting really pissed off.

Oh yeah, and earlier this year one of the cops tried to repay the favor. Me and my buddy (the same kid that hit the first cop) were getting ready to drag race up this road down by his house. A cop shows up, so we immedietly start running and the cop. Tries to hit us with his damn car!! I cant stand these f***ing po po.

about 8 years ago i was over at a freinds house showing him my new 510 banshee anyway i let him talk me into riding it down the road in front of his house. so about a 300yards from his drivway i look up and theirs a trooper coming around the curve so me being a stupid 19 year old i hammer down right past him and head down the road about 3 miles to my house . i rode the bike up in the woods and left it and went in the back door. well anyway a neibour tells the trooper who it was and an hour later while im eatin supper with my parents we hear a knock at the door and its the trooper. and hes got video ofme. well he wrote me up for resisting arrest,exceding the speed limit, no tag or reg., and said he clocked me at over a 125mph (althought i think that was made up) i ended up in court looking at a 6month sentence and $10,000 in fines luckly i had signed up with the national guard and my lawyer was able to work up a plea bargain. I only had to pay court costs and up my enlistment to 8 years.i got out of the guard 2 months ago. play it safe if you get coaught ridin the road stop. I could have went to jail over somthing stupid. dont take that chance for anything!!!!

Back when i had my 440ex i went out riding around my house with like 6 of my friends. When the farmers see us in there feilds they get real ticked off. Well nightfall came and we went down the side of the a road and then into a farmers feild and the farmer seen us and started chasing us through his feild. Well when i put the throttle to the bars the ole trusty 440 blew the head gasket out the front of the motor and died. I was so scared and i was the only one that got caught i thought i was gonna get shot or somethin. So he said he was going to press charges unless i helped him unload a truck full of hay. So i decided that was better than dealing with the cops so i helped him and he took me home and he was even pretty cool about it after that. He now lets us ride through there.

OH MAN ok i have a great story of when i got chased was with a bud. Its was in a construction site and we were draggin my rm250 and his 250r trike and a cop started makin his way towards. of course i turn high tail it and motion my bud to get to my house and then the turds hit the fan. about 6 squad cars were flying down all exits but mine that goes to my house so i twist throttle and smoke marcus and his trike and the squad cars and open the garage and wait for marcus. we made it and sat inside lookin out the window at cop cars circling the plat

we actually chained the back of the mower to a tree and did burnouts and mower wheelies on the signs...i also ran into the fence of the elementary school. i dont remember a whole lot of that nite

nothing intense but me and a friend used to live 2 minutes away from each other.. we lived in the country side lots of windy small roads and one day i was on the back of his warrior. We never meet cops but this one day the cops were already out after this farmer who had been banned on driving his tractor on the road for ramming a police car once with it (lol crazy farmers). So anyway we were flying down the road to his house when we saw this cop car just ahead of us talking to the farmer.. he immediately looks at us and gets in his car. My friend pulls a 180 fast and we drive up the closest lane.. we had no clue who lived there. The cop drove by and went to hide but we saw him hide so it sucked for him he tried waiting for us for 2 hours but we just sat and talked and waited him out he eventually gave up and went. Kinda scary though when your just driving and suddenly theres cops in ur face!

i got 1. easter sunday 06. a friend and i got up early and figured it would be a great day to ride. well we went down to the local market to get some food. when we came around the corner we saw a po po in the distance. so me on my 05 400ex and my friend on his 05 z400 whiped around and started heading towards my friend's house because he has 40 acers of 1/2 fields and1/2 woods. we got to his house and hid in the woods watchin the cops drive by in confusion. There are train tracks that go on the side of my friends property and the road that goes to my house. so after 20 minutes or so, we headed up the tracks to my house. On the way to my house the cop was goin in the opposit direction on the road, of corse he saw us, but we were still able to get away. we got to my house, we put the quads in my basment and waited around for our other group of friends to come. 2 hours later we all met up and started ridin again. We went all over New Milford with a group of 20 people all on modified, and ridiculously loud quads. U can figure that we saw that same cop quite a few times. It was funny out smarting him and spliting up when we saw. We could tell he was gettin pissed. It was also good that we knew all the hidin spots where the cops always sit. Anytime we took a cigarette brake we knew where the cops were because one of my boys' had a scanner, that helped. towards the end of the day we went to this abanned rock coury where there was several large hill climbs we were there for about a 1/2 hour when we met up with the cops the 2nd to last time of the day. So we tried to run but the cop was blocking the entrance he thought that he finally got us. But thanks to me with my 22 inch bear claw tires in the rear i found a way out and quick even though we had to cut through this guys field and climb over a 4 foot high stone wall to get on to this dirt road where the guys neighboor and wife were standing out in the road with a shovel and a rake trying to hit us off our atvs. I was the first one to drop out on to the road because of my good rock wall climbing technec while gettin chased (lol) The guy in the road missed me with the rake while i ducked down and swerved by him. The group decided to go up the road while me and my good friend to Tony went down the road towards his trails. Me and Tony got to his trails and went to his tree fort and tried contacting the others. 15 minutes later they show up with stories to tell about the angry guy and his wife. My friend Andrew said ''that he had to run over the angry guys leg. Anyway every one was hungry so we went up to Andrew's house where every ones' cars and trucks are at. So we get back on the road and we had to go past my house where the cops were sittin ( they got smart and found out where i lived).So we ran up to Andrews and i ignored the cops at my house and went out to get something to eat at the Cook House. Later I got a call from my parents and the cop. The cop said that he just wanted to talk to us. My parents were a little pissed off and they said that i lack judgement. ALL IN ALL WE GOT AWAY.

when I was 15 I was riding down the highway to an old coal mine for a memorial day party on my old 300ex, some county cops had a road block set up to check drivers coming out of this party "this party was pretty big". They had the block set up on the bottom of a hill to conceal their location to driver so when I saw them it was too late to turn around. Well, I was young and stupid so I blew right through the middle "WFO". One cop chased me to a gravel road luckily it hadn't rained in a few weeks...his little blinking lights looked funny way back in the dust. LOL
A few years later a buddy and I were racing down the road "he had a 250r I had a 400ex" anyway, he won so I did the only honorable thing..I pulled a 5th gear wheelie... then I saw blue lights. With nowhere to run we pulled over, the state rod clocked me at 65...LOL cost me $155.50

When I was like 13 I was riding my 250 dirt bike with a friend on his 350 warrior. We made a habbit of riding on the road cuz it was alot faster than taking the trails to his house. Well, we decided to switch bikes for a few because he's never ridden a dirt bike b4. Right after we switched machines a cop spotted us from like 3 miles away on the road and turned his lights on, so we took off. I ducked onto the tracks and into my back yard, hid the quad behind my garage hoping he would do the same. Well, as I was walking to my house I hear my friend on my dirt bike just putting down the road at like 5 mph with the cop behind him with lights and sirens going. He decided to lead the cop to my house because it was his first time riding a dirt bike.

So long story short, the cop ended up going to high school with my mom, so he just gave us a warning.

I don't run from cops, mine is registered and insured, so I pull the military ID and it usually gets me off with a warning.
But if you aren't stupid, cops won't bother you!

me and a friend of mine where riding at his grandmas house, there where some nice trails behind her house, but we were running over some wild bushes in this field and i guess someone saw us and called the cops. then all of a sudden a huge cop excursion is scotting threw the feild toward us with his lights on. this guy was on us i could probally touch his bumper. scared the $$$$ out of me and we only got away because the trails that were near the field weren't big enough for him to get threw.

ok i got one. i was riding with my friend at these trails i had never been too. you park your car under an over pass and then the trails are like all around you. for some reason we were thinking if cops were to come we should park in a good spot so were hidden. we park behind a bunch of piles of railroad ties so that our truck and trailor are pretty hidden. we go riding for a good while both of us on 250r's. after awhile my friends tie rod end snaps out of no where so we wind up pushing, pulling, towing his r back for longer than we got to ride. we finally get back to the trailor and start taking off our gear when a cop comes down under the overpass. he goes and starts talking to this other guy who was there. my friend and i are sitting there debating back and forth wether or not the cop can see us or if we should just stay there and see what he does. finally after like 20to 30 minutes of this cop talking to this guy we decide that we should just go talk to the cop cause we figured he had to have seen us. we start walking up to the cop but he doesnt aknowledge us at all(were also sorta looking back alot to see how visible the car was and it was completly hidden) so we decide to just keep walking right past the cop. we walk down the road a ways out of sight and had to do like a 2 mile circle through forests and feilds of crop to get back to the car. we couldnt belive he didnt see the car and basically never should have left. haha pretty funny though

Now for my story:

I have never been scared of riding on the streets even though there is A LOT of cops here, i'm talking like, you can't drive 1 a mile down jefferson blvd without seeing at least 2 or 3 cops.

I have ditched cops in the past, probably like 2 or 3 times before. Got lucky every time.

So now the story itself, I go to our local riding area and I was just cruising around with my little brother, me on my 450r and my bro on his 250ex, I then decide to go to my friends house, he gots a Raptor 660r, and I come to his house and call him out to go riding. We first drop my little brother off at my house and then decide to go to this riding area about 4 miles away, we decide to go there by street... So we are riding down the street about 1-2 miles away from my house and then we see a cop (his name is Abel, everyone hates this guy) and he starts waving to me to stop... I am like, hell no, I am NOT gonna stop to Abel and I just throttle to the bars. I am hitting around 70mph in between cars, my friend on his Raptor is barely keeping up.

So we get out on the trails and start getting the hell out of the area. And I thought we lost the cops already and turn around and my friend is gone... I was like wtf... I thought he maybe stopped to take a piss so I wait for hi... No show... So I go back looking for him... Nowhere to be found... So I decide to go home and just when I start going home I look around the roads surrounding the field I was on and there was about 5-7 cops... And one on a truck driving towards me... I just throttle all the way through the whole field and get out on a street, going about 75mph and there is a cop in front of me, I brake like hell and do a 180 and go the other way, a cop tries to ram me from the right and I barely swerve out of the way.

So here I am pinned at about 80mph going down a straight road with 3 cops behind me and many other cops in the area waiting for me. I am going down this road and the road kind of goes up onto a levee and it is kind of like a big ramp and im hitting about 80mph... 90* turn.... I drop a gear and let off the clutch and barely make it and then 2 more cops come out of the turn after me... I am like oh ****, I am dead... Nothing but fields around me, nowhere to go, so one of the cops drive up by me and tells me to stop and takes his pistol out on me... I stop and put me hands in the air. The cop runs out and tackles me...

Other cops run up and they all start kicking me and drawing their guns out on me some yelling for me to stand up and others to get down... Then they finally cuff me and put me in the car and take me to the station... About 2,000$ later I get my quad back and I am now on probation for 6 months, I have about 4 months left of probation...

Oh yeah, my friend on his Raptor got caught right away, they lost me at first but since I waited for him they found me...

i dont like to brag about running from cops and stuff but i live on long island so its a given that i have to do it.

today was interesting.

it involved a big sandpit, a bunch of guys riding on quads, and a suffolk county police department helicopter.

Run from the cops, go to jail, pay huge fine, probation...possibly cause injury to innocent people on the street and to the police officers now chasing you...

And we wonder why ATV's have such a bad rep...

the bad reputation ATVs are getting didn't come from people eluding police, it came from idiots trashing public riding areas and children getting hurt from lack of adult supervision while riding..... I don't think 60 minutes has ever done a segment on running from the cops on all terrain vehicles, you should spend you time wondering about something else and let us share our stories and have our laughs

I don't think you get the picture...Any sort of news like running from the cops, riding drunk, allowing kids to ride unsupervised... it's ALL BAD PR for the sport. As for running from the cops, that is just stupid. What does it do? What does it prove? It puts your life at risk, it risks the lives of those around you and it puts the lives of the officers that have to chase you at risk...Then you wrap it around a tree while being chased and it's the cops that catch hell from the press because you decided to to be stupid and run from the cops... 2 words for those who think running is the cool thing to do...Grow Up. If you can't ride responsibly then put your machine on Ebay and get a skateboard.

What does running from the cops do? It gets you out of some massive fines if you don't suck at riding and get caught. See in my town you get the same punishment if you stop or if you run, so you might as well give it a shot. What does it prove? OK, so lets take a look at this...Good stories? How about this for a headline for you...Kid is killed while running from police after they found him riding illegally, parents are now suing the local police department their son's death despite the kid being stupid.

Seem to me there are other posts on here that also tend to agree with me...So if you don't like it, don't read it. I'm all about legal riding, fighting to keep our riding areas open and threads by anyone bragging about how they broke the law only gives fuel to the people who shut down our riding areas and put laws up that limit our riding...So when I read posts about people being stupid and bragging about breaking the law, yes I will post my opinion about it and take my stand to help keep our areas open...

there was one other person on this thread that spoke out against this thread, and after a long argument he stopped posting here too.

I'm all for legal riding and I think that legal riding is definetly the way to go. Right now I am making a transition to start riding less illegally, but also with a riding area less then 3 minutes away from my house and no way to get to those legal places. I do what I have to ride that weekend.

BTW I do not have to ride on roads to get to this riding area, so I doubt I am putting anyone elses life in danger besides my self or some dumb cop that tries to fit into a trail or tries to skim whoops in his crown vic goin down the train tracks (which does happen).

Good to hear you are trying to change your ways...How about getting a trailer and towing your ATV to your riding area. Think of all the other riding areas you can then go ride at...It also makes it a lot easier to get your ATV home if you breakdown.

Thank you for pointing out the obvious, but right now i don't have the space or the money for a trailer. I wish I could tow it with hopes and dreams but that doesn't seem to be in the cards right now either.

i ride on the road illegally. But if a cop see's me and flags me down i stop. I have respect for them. If you can do the crime, you can do the time. Luckily they let me off or made me push it home. Which is way better then getting impounded and a bunch of fines. One time a cop just waved at me as i passed by, but I was going under the speed limit and not riding like a jack*****

I couldn't agree with him more. I care what he thinks. I could care less what YOU think. I got one the cop didn't really give chase but kinda.

I was riding up an down my neighboor hood and got to the top i had my hmf on no QC so it was loud as mess. I went to turn around and i see a Richland County Sherrif flyin down the road with lights on. I haul *** back down the road pull in to my garrage and shut the door.
Really our neighboorhood doesn't care if we ride so i prolly wouldn't have gotten in any trouble. He patrolled about an hour then left.

First run-in happened not long after I got my Blaster last year. Took it for a spin around the block before we were going to go out to a field. I live in a quiet back-section of the city that's rarely patroled, and most of my neighbors don't mind watching a few 4-wheelers riding around. But there's always one guy at the end of the block who ruins the rest of the neighborhood's good time.

While on directly the opposite side of the block from my house, I see a patrol car drive by, back up, and head my way. He didn't give me a fine as long as I promised to push it the rest of the way home.

Second run-in was with an officer for the forest service in upper Michigan. A bunch of us were waiting for the rest of our group for some time at a trail intersection when the officer comes by. We asked him if he had seen the rest of our group. He hadn't, and we decided to head back not long after he left.

We found the rest of our group (a few people had engine problems) and were talking to the same officer. He asks one of my friends, sounding completely serious, if he was aware that there was a 50mph speed limit on the trails. My friend got a deathly afraid look on his face and said no. The officer burst out laughing with the rest of my buddies. (They had asked him to say that).

(Same friend got in a worse fate than cops later that day--hit a deer, braking his collarbone and shattering his shoulder blade.)

Third run-in was a few weeks ago. One of my friends lives in front of a farmer's field that isn't planted yet, and he got permission for us to play in it. I was running my Blaster around back there when one of the neighbors comes out and gives me some paper with the local noise ordinances. Like noise ordinances in most towns, this one was vague and meaningless. Besides that, my Blaster, with a stock engine and pipe, makes less noise than most lawn mowers. Plus a few Harleys go by on the street every hour. Whatever.

The house of the neighbor in question was towards the edge of the field, so we just avoided going down there. While we were taking a break, we see the cops pull into the driveway of the neighbor in question. We discretely get the machines behind the garage and under the tarp.

The cops end up going to each door in the neighborhood looking for ATVs. When they came to my friends house, they explained that they really didn't care as long as we had permission from the owner of the field and thought the guy was just being a jerk, but they have to respond to calls, even from jerks.

After they left, we responded by roaring up and down the field a few times

Its pretty much ok to ride on the roads just dont be a dumb *** about it if you get caught 3+ times dont go hauling down there again...use ur head....im not saying dont ride on the roads because I do all im saying is just if you get caught stop if its your first time you will probably get a warning unless the cop is a dick then you should take off...pretty much all I have to say

i have a really good one... my friend who has a yfz and i was on my trx we were riding on the Ernest Coal piles and we found out they patrol it. so me and my friend were talking and we saw dust off in the distance and we thought is from us, well a couple seconds later a white blazer showed up over the hill so we hopped back on our bikes and he jsut threw his gloves under his butt. so we were flying across the field (which has huge bumps in it from the huge bull dozers) and i pass him because i dont take no chances. and i stop on the gas well road and waited for him. he stops and top of these fairly big hills to put on his gloves and he looks back and the blazer is climbing up the hills. by the way this blazer had a lift kit and baja tires. it climbed both hills and followed us out the gas well road. we hit the road and lost him .

aright i got a new one for yall... which isnt about me. So my friend was riding last weekend in the local trails and he decides to go to this sandpit type area. The area usually draws cops but he is stupid and there haven't been any chases for a good while. So, anyway... the entrance to the area is at the top of a hill, so as my friend is coming over the hill he sees the entire police force on the other side LOCKED AND LOADED!!!

The local cops were having shooting practice in our favorite riding spot. WTF!?!?!?!!! My friend turned around and hauled @$$ out of there like a bat out of hell! Good thing my bike was bein fixed that weekend.

Knowing my smart self i would have probably done wheelies all around them and thrown up dust in there face to see if they would try and pop me in the arse.

I was at my house, and i was just putting around with the 250ex. I was cleaning the engine, and just making it look good. My friend nick calls me up, and wants to hang up. I was like whatever. The bad thing is was a didnt have a ride. So obviously, i took the ex to go pick him up. I live in an area of vermont where there is barely anyone in the city. I ripped down the road to go get him. I got there is one piece. Then, i ripped up the road to go home. It was fine for about 5 minutes. Out of the corner of my eye, i see a cop car coming out of someones driveway. I was already topping out, and couldnt go any faster with nick on the back. He gets onto the road, and flies after me. I knew of this trail that was not to far away. When i got to it, i quickly veered off the road and into a ditch and kept on going. The cop follwoed in his little crown vic! We were speeding across this grassy field and i looked back and the cop was right on my ***. I got to the trail which goes up the side of a mountain. It is almost wide enough for a cop car. I went for it.... and so did the cop. BAM! He hit the tree, and totaled the car. I was not going to sit around, i had to go!

well they arent going to ban cars from the rode, and it just adds fuel to the fire for people who already hate quads. i had a friend who used to ride on roads around here and he wrecked and was killed. we can never think faster than our quads can react, and add the high speeds you hit on open roads and its a caualty to happen.

i have to much to live for, with my wife and our family that all loves me. if i die from something stupid like that, i would hate to think of what it would put them through for a few moments of fun.

um ive pulled over twice for cops when i was nowhere near trails and both times they let me ride it home. once i got away and when i was cleanin up in my backyard you could see half the quad from the road and the cop with his nice dodge charger gave me an EARFULL. but if anyones firmiliar with route 6 i had to run from one off a veryyyy highly used road and then onto route six luckkkkkky for me i got green lights all the way to the trail road. except for one but anyways. if your at the trails you can get away but a few times im topping out and the cars are barely accelerating, Cars are top speed wise faster so when it becoms dangerous i make the move to stop. but a young friend of mine almost wheelied over the cop car and did get away and left his quad at my crib, until he walked home and saw police officer with his mom theres more but not as exciting as others but in the winter cops wave to me and our crew they dont care and even if they did they put thereselves in risk

A kid i used to work with had a 450r and he used to go see his girlfriend in the next twon over at 12:00 at night after his parents went to be. The first couple times his parents didn't know until one day the dumbass backed in his into the shed instead of driving it in and his parents noticed and took away his keys. So after about two weeks of not having his keys he decided to take his brothers crf100 out. Well since he couldn't run from the cops very fast eventually he ended up with 3 cops behind him. So he went around a sharp turn drove off the road laid it down in high weeds/ woods the cops went right by put kept potroling all night so he slept their until 5:00 in the morining and drove back before his parents were awake and this was last year to this day they still don't know about it.

You must live in gilbert we do the same thing when we ride their it's a great system.

alright kinda a long story i'll post the whole scenario later. Heres the shortened verion. Was riding cops came, I ran on instincts and didnt want to get a ticket. Ended up with 6 cop cars and a helicopter after me just for riding. They had nothing else better to do haha
