I have to get some pics but I'll post them later of what to look for. Most likely we will have three 450rs and an 08 400EX with us.
Posted by: bayou boy
i will be on a red 450r with everything blacked out with an LSU flag. a red brute force with blinging rims and i may bring the ol 416 for fun. (the group we saw for new years is going so the 416 may be fun)
Posted by: HB-Roost
LMAO the good ol' heartbreaker.
Posted by: bayou boy
yup she may be going for sale though. the wife learned the r too well so she doesnt like the 400...spoiled. she said she will use the brute and ride the r when i am not on it....i wanna see her throw the brute around in the trees.

2 trips ago to the dunes, sprocket broke after about 20 seconds of running lol...didn't even make it up that first big hill after the creek.

been a while since i posted here, im gonna subscribe so i can keep up.
my motor was built by the first Switchin Gear mechanic, Ted. he quit and theyre closed now tho.
i was at the dunes with my boy kalen, the weekend before the 4th. i had to go back offshore for the 4th though. wish i coulda made that one!!
Posted by: bayou boy
it was ok for the 4th alot of people but not alot of racing like usual(normally fri nite till sunday) we got ants in the tent as did our neighbors on each side the hot water heater in the showers didnt work....ice cold. most people stayed in the lake. kalen was there that weekend also his chain came off and broke a case. one good outcome of the weekend was i sold the idea of a toyhauler to the wife
Posted by: Black R/T
sux about kalen's cases. did he have his new swingarm on?
n i bet the ants and cold water helped sell the toy hauler idea, congratulations by the way.
Posted by: kiesta00
Yeah that sucked about Kalen's case...my bike did the same exact thing after about 1 minute of riding friday afternoon...bummer!
Should be ready to rip again this weekend.

were you there for the 4th? i think i saw your friends 400 but i didnt see you...at least i think i didnt. i was looking fwd to meeting you.
Posted by: YOURADHERE
I signed up for this site and forgot about it. We usually go to La Dunes about once a month but couldnt make it for the 4th. We went this past Saturday(the 12th) but there wasnt many people.
Posted by: kiesta00
Bayou boy....what color is your 416??
Posted by: kiesta00
yeah man I was there but my bike was broken in the camping area all weekend haha...I was riding my buddy's yellow utility bike all weekend
Posted by: YOURADHERE
Maybe you saw me....I was riding a yellow 07 z400. My other buddies were on a yellow 05 400ex and a black 450r. We were there saturday and the guy with the 450r stayed all weekend.
Posted by: bayou boy
here is the 416. i didnt have it there though. i was on the 450 and the brute force.....i had more fun on the brute i beat a few 400's on it....lol the look after is priceless
Posted by: bayou boy
you may have saw me on this.....i dont have any pics of the 450 in its present state to post
Posted by: YOURADHERE
How do you like those 8 paddles at the dunes? I have a set of 7 paddle haulers but I'll probably have to swap for some 8s when I do some more modding.
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w25/YOUR-AD-HERE/DSC01071.jpg
Posted by: bayou boy
the ones on the 416 are 8 paddle extremes. they work well with that quad but it also has an 8 disc clutch. on the 450 they spin too much.
Posted by: bayou boy
i think i saw that z there.....yall were taking a little "break" on the side of the creek the saturday afternoon. i was haulin *** through the water on the brute. i slowed down when i passed...no wake lol
Posted by: kiesta00
oo yeah you told my friend "I eat 400's all day" lol...yeah he's got a "little cam" in that motor.
Posted by: bayou boy

what u talking about
Posted by: Black R/T
since we are showing our rides, guess ill post a few. heres my red 450, n it DOES eat 400s all day, lol!
Posted by: Black R/T
my black 450, its for sale by the way, its too much for rebecca.
Posted by: Black R/T
and heres the future king of LA dunes. hard to tell right now, but an 800cc twin CVT two-smoke is goin in that hole.

Yeah that was us. It was hot as hell out that day. Thanks for the no wake lol
Posted by: kiesta00
My friend said he raced some dude on a brute force that said he could take 400's all day long. The guy on the brute force had a little motor work done. Not sure if thats you...just thought it was b/c you said it'll beat 400s in your post.

Will it have a longer swingarm?
ETA: Nevermind, I saw the build thread.
There was a crotch rocket/z400 hybrid at the dunes Saturday.

sweet! i like checking hybrids out. it takes alot of skill and time to make projects like that work.
Posted by: bayou boy
that guy had the green brute. he had a lil motor work done he beat mine. mine will beat stockish piped 400's any more than that no...but not bad for a 600 pound quad with a trailer hitch ball...lol. no ad i thought about stopping and enjoy the break yall were taking. that 800 v twin cvt should be a very consistant quad. what you going to do for the final drive? chain etc. they did have a pretty fast 400 out there that weekend that red 465ex he pulled pretty hard out the hole. he pulled my 450 out the hole every time after we got going i could hold him but the damage was already done.
Posted by: bayou boy
i snapped a few quick pics of the 450
Posted by: bayou boy
another
Posted by: Black R/T
im going to mount a jackshaft close to where the swingarm bolt is. its gonna have a pulley for the belt and a sprocket that will line up with the rear sprocket. that way i can change gear ratios more effectively. if i didnt, i would have to put a rear sprocket that is almost the same size as the rear wheels just to get the ratio right!
Posted by: Black R/T
thats a sweet grab/nerf combo you have BAYOU BOY. almost exactly what im planning for mine.
Posted by: bayou boy
the grab bar is an AC and the nerf and heel guards are ims. they were powdercoated by pappy on here. so far the pc has held up well.
Posted by: YOURADHERE
There was a 465ex this weekend? Who was riding it? What did it look like?
Posted by: Black R/T

how long ago did he do it and how much was the shipping total?
Posted by: YOURADHERE
Hey Black R/T there is a powdercoating shop in Lafayette not far from Pinhook and Verot.

Thats my buddy's bike...it has red factory plastics with a +6 swingarm and a short curtis sparks exhaust
Posted by: YOURADHERE
I dont think I saw that one. I know there was ALOT of 400exs there Saturday.

i didnt know that... do you know the name, or could you tell me how to get there?
Posted by: YOURADHERE
Sure....it's...
Powder Coat Junction
103 Turn Row
Lafayette, LA 70508
Phone: 337-235-4082
From the interection of Pinhook and Verot get on Pinhook as if you are going towards Broussard. You'll pass up Faulks(the truck accessory place) about a half mile after you pass Faulks on the right will be a wooden sign that says "Canebreak" or "Canebrake"...dont remember how they spell it. Turn right there. Follow it down about a 100yds to the stop sign, take a left, they'll be a yeild sign right after you turn, make a left again and they are right there on the right.
I can throw a rock from my office and hit thier shop. I havent had anything done by them yet but they seem to stay very busy. There's usually a few badass race boats at the shop to check out too. If you get some work done by them let me know how it turns out.
Posted by: Black R/T
i know exactly where that is, i grew up in youngsville. ive heard of that guy. thanks, im gonna pay him a visit real soon.
Posted by: bayou boy
pappy was 15 for the grab bar and 30 for the nerf heel guards i think 15 for the bumper. it was done in january. i ride my quad xc mostly so it gets abuse. as far as shipping i am not sure. i bought the bumper from him. the nerfs from c&d they shipped to him and him to me. the grab bar was like 10 to ship to him and he threw it in the nerf box for the trip home. i am not blowing his horn i really dont beleive in that but his work is some of the best i have ever seen. real even texture no chips or peeling. i am satisfied. if you want to do it local doesnt cp customs do pc also? yes that was the 465...it does run good and looks stockish....gotta love it. i still love to see a quick ex it always puts a grin on my face.

Anyone ride any of the MX tracks around Lafayette?
Posted by: kiesta00
We went to breaux bridge last night but we were on the drag strip in the back....had a pretty good crowd.
Posted by: Black R/T
dont they have a night riding session sometime during the week there?
Posted by: YOURADHERE
I heard they had done a lot of work on the strip in Breaux Bridge. I keep trying to go there since Ive never been but something comes up everytime.
Posted by: Black R/T
its real nice. been a few months since ive been, but its real smooth and wide. i think they were supposed to be installing a tree
Posted by: YOURADHERE
Thats what I was told. I might make a pass or 2 just to see what it will run but for the most part I'd probably stay on the MX track.
Posted by: Black R/T
yup, theres a tree. i was supposed to test it for em today but i forgot i lost an axle nut before i went offshore, damn honda shop closes too early. oh well, might go tomorrow. anybody going to the dunes this weekend?
Posted by: 400eXr1d3rZ
got me a million new parts, bike will be done tomorrow. I haven't ridden in almost a year or close to it. It's gonna be great, can't wait until tomorrow, anyone wanna hit up the spillway sunday afternoon?
Posted by: YOURADHERE

Looks like it will rain pretty much all day today so testing today may be out.
I've got family coming for the weekend so going to the dunes wont happen but I'll be going within the next 3 weeks for sure.
Did you ever go by that powdercoat shop?
Posted by: Black R/T
na, we went to Destin for the weekend, and i was busy for the rest of the time.
i may have my quad sold ;(
Posted by: KFXcarnage

If Im not mistaken Highlifter was working on a park in that area that may have an MX track and some trails but Im not 100% sure. Also there is the Kisatchie Forest trail system that's not too far from there....I think anyway.

Posted by: KFXcarnage

Looks like no more wondering on atv's,must stay on designated trails.
Isn't http://www.highlifter.com/ mostly for mudders though?
Posted by: Black R/T
i think thats a good thing. there are already plenty of trails, so many that in the 4 years ive been riding there, i discover new trails every time i go.
Posted by: EXracer83
Thats cool I finally found some Louisiana people on here! I live about 5 minutes from la dunes man I use to live out there. If i can find a good bike to get I'll be seeing you guys out there sometime but for now gotta get rid of my 400 and 250ex I need some more power under my @$$ lol. If you know anyone with a Banshee or 250r for sale around the state shoot me a message man. Idc if its blown up or anything I just want a faster 2 stroke to tinker with than my old blaster. Hope to see yall out ridin soon!
Posted by: YOURADHERE
I had found a pretty nice 370 Shee in Carthage that was in pieces for $1200. Had a purple powdercoated frame, chrome a arms, chrome +6 swinger, carbs setup to run alcohol(forgot which ones), Fullbore plastics, Works shocks, etc....looked like it had everything to be put back together.
Posted by: Black R/T
IM HEADED TO THE DUNES THIS WEEKEND, RAIN OR SHINE!!!!

Posted by: Black R/T

Posted by: YOURADHERE
We'll be there....I'll probably be the tard on a yellow Z struggling with tuning a carb all day. If it gets too bad Im bringing the stocker along to swap back.
Posted by: Black R/T
if ya need a wrench or a hand, look for my bike with a camo hat n a chick on tha back!
Posted by: YOURADHERE
We ended up not going. A few things didnt fall into place. My buddy's 450r stroker should be done this week so we are going next weekend. Hope yall have a good time though.
Posted by: Black R/T
it was fun, i think my clutch basket is grooving though, its acting funny. and i think i might need a topend soon, its not running quit as good. im about to tear down the whole thing and redo.
Posted by: bayou boy
i am thinking about selling my 450 and converting the brute to an xc quad. i find myself using it way more than the 450. kind of unsure though i just finished the 450 and kinda hate to start over
Posted by: YOURADHERE
Was there a bunch of people at the dunes?
Posted by: Black R/T
there were a bunch of travel trailers, only two tents. about 10 or so trucks in the middle
Posted by: YOURADHERE
I wanted to go but couldnt make it.
We ended up going to Duhons on Sunday though.
Posted by: Black R/T
they have a drag track there?
Posted by: YOURADHERE
Yes they do. Sadly it seems its not in the condition it once was though. Looking at some pics on their site it was once VERY well taken care of with a tree and all. Now its not really maintained at all, has grass, and its a bit rough and rutted because they let trucks run on it. Kinda sucks but if they would fix it up again and keep it up it would be a great track.
Posted by: YOURADHERE
Does anyone know if Duhons ever fixes that strip back up?
Posted by: kiesta00
Breaux Bridge Tomorrow night if its not rainin!!
Posted by: YOURADHERE
I forget about that place. Is it racing or just messing around? I might go just to check it out. What time would be a good time to show up?
Posted by: kiesta00
Drag racing...they should have the timing system setup pretty soon...right now its like 7 people line up and someone flags the races
Posted by: Black R/T
i heard it was up already... let me know if it is or not, i want to go when i get home so i can tune
Posted by: bayou boy
anybody up for sand hill aka wiggins the sunday of labor day weekend
Posted by: YOURADHERE
We're going to Florida that weekend but are probably going to La Dunes this coming weekend.
Posted by: kiesta00
I want to go but its far as balls compared to the dunes for me.
We're heading to the dunes for labor day...should be there saturday and sunday.
Posted by: bayou boy
guess i am lucky in one way it is the same drive to either but unlucky in another....3hr drive to either. mississippi is a better drive for a 1 day ride though for me
Posted by: Black R/T
what is so much better about sand hill?
Posted by: kiesta00
Ah dam, its probably about 4 hours for me...I'd have to make a weekend out of it. I hear the sand is smoother and they have a bunch of trails to ride in...not sure tho
Posted by: YOURADHERE
Yeah Ive always heard its a little nicer then LA Dunes. Its a bit far for just a day trip from Lafayette for me though.
Posted by: bayou boy

it is a different place to ride. they groom the drag area but can only run 2 at a time. i prefer to run alot at a time. i like the nerfs banging that is racing...lol it is a good place though. i prefer the camping at the dunes though. we usually just go for a day ride in wiggins. no night riding there either. the guy that owns it is way cooler than barney....but burnt clutch plates have a better personality than barney. also too over you meet people from the other side a different crowd than the dunes. both places have good points and bad.
Posted by: Black R/T
im planning a trip to the Bethel trails in Mississippi for the weekend of sept. 6, 7th. i dont have anyone on board yet, ill go by myself if i have to, lol. might stop at sand hill too.
Posted by: bayou boy
i have never been to bethel...i hear its tight trails. if i am free i may hit it up too
Posted by: kiesta00
Any takers for the Dunes labor day weekend??
Lets see if the 250 can survive the first hill LMAO
pray for me
Posted by: YOURADHERE
We're going to Florida that weekend. We were at the dunes yesterday. They only had about 10 trucks but hardly anyone wanted to race.
Posted by: Black R/T
keep me posted bayou, if you go id like to meet up.
Posted by: bayou boy
ok i will let you know. we are going to wiggins this sunday weather permitting
Posted by: Black R/T
screw it!!! looks like Gustav is gonna bring us home early, i think im gonna just go this weekend instead. might be the last trail time we have for a while!
Posted by: bayou boy
if you go hit wiggins sunday. i am going to my brother in laws deer camp this weekend it is about 1/2 hr from wiggins.
Posted by: Black R/T
ill be there, could you hook me up with some directions?
Posted by: yamadude71
is there anybody here from or around the deridder, leesville, fort polk area
Posted by: bayou boy
we are not going anywhere this weekend....time to gas up the generator and board up the house
Posted by: Black R/T
i think its gonna rain a little monday and tuesday, shouldnt be anything too bad, lol!

Posted by: kiesta00
bayou boy where do u live?? hope not too close to the coast
Posted by: bayou boy
i live in houma...about 25 miles from the coast
Posted by: YOURADHERE
I hear Houma got it pretty rough. Some family from Thibodeau and Raceland wont have power for weeks. Did anyone ride anywhere for Labor Day?
Posted by: kiesta00
We went to the Dunes for saturday.
Posted by: Black R/T
i was there saturday too... we left though cause they were closing the roads on sunday morn.
Posted by: kiesta00
What bike were you on? I was on a silver 250r.
Posted by: bayou boy
i am alive...couple of missing shingles and a broken fence post. made out like a bandit. even got power back
Posted by: jaromejones
lafayette area here
was looking to do some trail riding this weekend at forest hill, but i heard almost everything is still closed from gustav.
anyone know of something open this weekend?
Posted by: bayou boy
water from ike is rising here. kinda like the katrina/rita year
Posted by: kiesta00
Dude you're just catching hell this season huh? hate to hear it!!
Good luck
Posted by: bayou boy
mostly the lower end of the parish and the east side of houma that get the water. i live on the west side it is a higher elevation. alot of gustav debris flying around though. yall sould be getting some winds off it too.
Posted by: YOURADHERE
We are over here in Scott. I saw a pic of Leeville(or Leesville, however you spell it) and it was already under water this morning. But thats par for the course anywhere south of Golden Meadow.
Posted by: HB-Roost
Eh I need to get back to riding. I haven't made it out anywhere in like forever. My Dad got in an accident a little while back and he goes in for his second surgery Monday....they are taking bone out of his hip and putting it into his leg to get it to kind of rejoin since the shattered end is starting to seperate again. And the last time I went riding I tore my skid plate out of the bolts and slung my chain....I have no idea how I did either lol but yeah, all of this hurricane business is not making me happy lol. Glad nobody seems to have made it out too bad at this point....we had all minor damages. Woohoooo
Posted by: bayou boy
i was wondering where yall been steven..hope ya dad is doing better. it dont look good here we have surge all the way to the city of houma. where i work is flooded. alot of areas that didnt get water for rita are flooded. it is bad right now. yall can watch it through our local tv station via the net. htv10.tv.com then click watch us now
Posted by: HB-Roost
Damn man that sucks. Good luck with it. The flooding around here has been bad...I can only imagine over there.
Posted by: Black R/T
we did ok in lafayette, i went riding for gustav, haha. the lights flickered once, didnt even reset my clock, dodged two bullets this year!
Posted by: michael250
Anybody in the Northshore area, north of Lake Pontchartrain? Going to the spillway saturday the 27th if anybody wants to meet up?
Posted by: Black R/T
NOT I, i parted out the 450
Posted by: bayou boy
i still dont have cable/internet at my house almost a month after. dont even see people working on it...CHARTER COMMUNICATIONS SUXX every time i use the net i have to run to my parents house... a 40 yr old saying...mom can i use the puter....lol. ONCE AGAIN CHARTER YOU ARE SHEET
Posted by: kiesta00
Charter sucks major balls...after gustav we had power and cable back within 5 days, but my friends who live in town still do not have cable and Charter tells them it will be another 2 or 3 weeks....EVERYTHING is back to normal over here except their street's cable system.
I still have to call Charter bc they didn't prorate this month for 5 days of no service.
Posted by: bayou boy
i got it back yesterday....4 1/2 weeks after. funny thing is areas that flooded for ike got it 2 weeks ago. they sent me a bill also. they said pay it now and we will credit you next month. we were like news flash your gonna credit me next month also and i am not fighting with yall twice trying to explain all this. i would love to go direct tv with dsl thru bell south but i live out od town a lil bit and they dont have the cable out here to do it so if i want fast net i am stuck with charter.
Posted by: YOURADHERE
Anyone going to the track in Breaux Bridge tonight?
Posted by: jaromejones
whats going on there?
Posted by: YOURADHERE
Supposedly they open up their 300ft track with the lights and time slips on Friday nights. Suppose to be a bunch of bikes there.
