was anybody at the spillway around 3 or while the old man was there me and a couple buddies were there
Posted by: bayou boy
we were out there till 2pm sunday 480r . i should have hit u up ragun...it was very dry. basicly the spillway is mostly sand which dries real fast....if you get alot of rain then about 4 days of sun it is dry....if you get a few showers during the week then 2 days of sun it is usually dry. area 2 should be open in 2 or 3 weeks i went help the trailblazers saturday cut grass on the trails all that is left is to put some concrete at the foot of a bridge they had to replace. area 2 looked pretty good not rutted up or whooped out. cant wait! sand hill oct 7th should be a good turnout
Posted by: RagunCajun
When you heading back again? Ill head there if i can find someone to ride with.
Posted by: bayou boy
not sure yet....depends on the weather as far as this weekend. i will let u know. we have a group heading to sand hill not this weekend but next sunday u should check it out.....all sand
Posted by: wizzade
glad to see im not the only person from LA on here.
Posted by: bayou boy
they have a few of us lurking around......where u from?
Posted by: mineralgrey01gt
which spillway are yall talking about? As soon as I get my 250r going good im heading to the Bonne Carre' Spillway

Wow we were neighbors
Posted by: bayou boy
bonne carre is the one
Posted by: RagunCajun
Is there any other place in southern LA to ride besides the spillway?
For the drag racers, there's no problem raceway but i dont care to set up my bike for drag only.

lol yea we were, i go down there pretty often, every other weekend at least. We probably know some of the same people.
Also, State Capitol Dragway has a sand drag track now

Not a whole lot of places around here that aren't stictly drag racing places or MX tracks (got alot of those if you are into it!), unfortunately. And a couple of good places relatively close got closed down because of stupid things like accidents, since families don't know how to react when members are seriously hurt or killed (at their own fault-underprotected and inexperienced trying to ride pro-status). So as for around here-not least not that I know of...I would definately be interested if anybody knows some good spots I don't! haha.
I am not a big fan of strict drag racing...at least not since my experience at State Capitol. That was by far the crappiest time and worst money spent riding...I may have made 4 passes including trial runs at a weekends cost of riding.
Posted by: bayou boy
i have my own private place to ride....been having it for about 1 1/2 years and still not finished
. i never reailzed the work involved just to maintain it.....cutting trails, grass cutting, moving fallen tree limbs, killing bananna spiders etc. i have been out there before just doing maintence and not riding. i picked out some more spots to add about another 1/2 mile to the loop and i want to put a few jumps in. geez its alot of work but i got it. only 1 catch though....cant ride there during deer season. 1 family member hunts way in the back and dont think he would like hearing braap braap. so out of respect and to keep the peace i just stay out for the season.
Posted by: HB-Roost
Paddles are in.
I am definately liking them, perfect tire IMO for these R's. Can't wait to check them out....
Posted by: bayou boy
mine came today also.....not happy. they sent those crappy looking universal rims for honda and yammi. not what i wanted they look like sheet. other than that the paddles look good. lol i got 4 sets now.....i think i got issues. guess i will keep them though dont think they could swap them out before next weekend
Posted by: RagunCajun
Im heading to the spillway tomarrow. Ill be on the black and white banshee. If ya see me there, holla.
Posted by: HB-Roost
Had to swap to the HRC cam in the 450r. I think the Hotcam may have a defect. It will NOT run with it....I checked everything over and over and it just wouldn't go. Swapped to the HRC cam and it fired right on up. I dunno....I have bad luck with the HCS2! lol I am thinking of emailing Hotcams and seeing if they can help me out with that.
In any case, finally back running, Timmy I have your shims ready for whenever I see you, and I am about to order the ones I used for you or a shim kit for myself and give you the ones I used(might as well get it now, though).
Sorry I missed you Ragun, I would have went if I had a ride.
Posted by: mineralgrey01gt
ill be at the spillway the very first weekend my 250r is up and running, it will not have plastics but oh well
Posted by: bayou boy
i wont be out there this weekend. gonna wait till next sunday. i wonder if the cam sprocket is off a little on the hcs2 messing up the timing. i would call hot cams to see. maybe they will swap it.
Posted by: RagunCajun
My engine's have no cams
As for the spillway, we went yesterday. It was an decent time. They closed the long straits we usualy drag race on(near the train tracks). The place is starting to suck more and more. ****, i could only open my shee up barely into 4th gear.
When will all that construction in area 1 be finished? I dont think i will bring my shee there until those straits are opened back up. I brought both my bikes and the dirtbike was a lot more fun on the rough stuff/trails.
Posted by: bayou boy
sunday....sand hill anyone??? money race should be a good turnout
Posted by: HB-Roost
Only thing I need is a ride....if I can make it, I will.
Posted by: RagunCajun
no paddles and im on call till monday.
Posted by: HB-Roost
Hope ya'll have a good time...I'm not gonna have a ride, so I am not gonna be able to go.
Let it rip and win some cash!
Posted by: RagunCajun
Did anybody go to the spillway this weekend? i want to know if they still have the long strait away by the train tracks blocked off.
Posted by: HB-Roost
I didn't, but I am guessing that it is probably going to be there for a while with all the big machinery over there. It was there and taped off when I went last week. Sucked BIG TIME.

Clash of the Titans @ Sicily Island in 2 weeks....anybody down?
Posted by: mineralgrey01gt
me and my brother may be going to the spillway saturday or sunday since he just bought a 250r a few days ago and mine is going to be finished tuesday. I cant wait to ride it

u going? my wife does not want to go. i can go but nobody else seems to want to. i dunno if i am going to the spillway this coming weekend. i really dont want to till area 2 opens
Posted by: mineralgrey01gt
im basically going to "test" my 250r out. Im just anxious to see what it will do
Posted by: bayou boy
if all goes well it should put a smile on your face
Posted by: mineralgrey01gt
hopefully, sucks knowing i have this much money into it and havent even rode it yet
Posted by: bayou boy
ahhhh the old phrase....good things come to those who wait....lol. it should do good. take it out for about a 20 minute run then check it out for leaks, loose bolts etc. when u get back home give it a through look over.
Posted by: mineralgrey01gt
yea, im gonna do a couple shake down runs at my parents house with it before I even leave with it. Id hate to get out there and not have a certain tool or something lol. All I want to worry about is if I have enough fuel for the day

Yeah, I am going. Why doesn't anyone want to go? I have always had a blast at the clashes...one of my favorite places/times to go.

Good idea. There is usually one thing or another that you will forget about during a build or need to adjust after a build. Last week I forgot to add locktite to the heat shield bolts and it rattled its arse off after they came loose. I thought something was going on inside the engine lmao.
Posted by: mineralgrey01gt
lol, yea im going over it tuesday with a fine tooth comb so ill make sure that its ready to rock
Posted by: bayou boy
my wife said she cant deal with 3 days of racing...most of my friends either cant get off of work or dont like sicily island....i dunno. may be a last minute thing for me.
Posted by: mineralgrey01gt
i have a question for yall. Do I need paddles for the spillway? I havent been there in a very long time and forget how thick the sand is

Paddles are a big no-no at the spillway.
Posted by: mineralgrey01gt
oh ok, thanks a lot for the info
Posted by: bayou boy
a few years ago they had a drag spot where i would have used paddles but no more. holeshot type tires work good on the trails if you like to drag most use the pro wedge, 4 snow type tire...have not had any good drags there in a while though there is really nowhere to do it.
Posted by: mineralgrey01gt
how are the trails there? Are they worth going for?
Posted by: bayou boy
trails are good...fast sections....some technical sections...when its open
Posted by: RagunCajun
depending on the power of your bike, pro wedges are all you need. And that's if you are drag racing only. Like he said, holeshots work but not that good. With the 4 stroke bikes, they do real well with regular mx tires. I tried some 19" holeshots and i spun spun spun but i dont have the low end the 4 strokes have.
I run knarlys with every other row of knobs cut off now. Works much better. It isnt that great for playing around but it helps in a drag race. Plus you can still get the rear loose to have some fun.

2 weeks ago there was no decent place to drag. All long straits were blocked off. Ill be bringing my dirtbike till they open those straits back up.
Im debating going to the spillway this weekend. I might just ride behind my house though. Depends if i can get someone to come with me.
Posted by: mineralgrey01gt
thanks for the info, good lookin banshee you have there
I plan on going if Honda hurrys up and ships my stuff out to the yamaha place in gonzales. Ive been waiting 3 weeks for the stuff to come in
im not too sure if my R will be up and rideable this week, depends on Honda and their wonderful shipping time
Posted by: 480r#121
anyone goin to spillway this sunday we have about 15 guys comein with us
Posted by: bayou boy
u tried using service honda or honda of troy? better prices than the local stealers and usually ship out quick. i doubt if i will go to the spillway this weekend
Posted by: HB-Roost
I will probably be at the Spillway one day this weekend (probably Sunday....almost positive) for a pre-catahoula run to check everything and so that I can drop that break-in oil.
Timmy, if you do decide that you want to go just LMK. Sucks that no body over there really wants to or can go, but I guess I can't say that I blame them.
Posted by: RagunCajun
damn hb, now i wanna go this weekend.
Id go for sure if the strait-aways were open again.
Posted by: 480r#121
hey HB what do u ride we are for sure goin
Posted by: HB-Roost
It will be a stock looking white 07 450r. I will probably be with a guy on a black 06 or 07 450r (not sure which, though). Red helmet. If you see me, come say hey. You have a dropped 450r, right?
Posted by: RagunCajun
what time yall are going?

ya # 696 on back green helmet

Posted by: 400eXr1d3rZ
I may make it out there, i'll have Troy Lee jersey and pants on, blue HJC helmet minus a visor and black tech 8's
quad has lsr axle, custom axis fronts and tcs rear,

ill be the only banshee there if i bring mine lol. I love the lack of banshees there though

Not many people know how fast a banshee actually is
Posted by: RagunCajun
people think banshees are faster than the new 450's/raptors....not true.

It's got MAJOR potential.
Posted by: RagunCajun
i know wink wink
But if you look at the big picture, every bike does. Only thing i dislike about my bike is the suspension. I have aftermarket suspension but it's still horrible. ya 400ex handles 100x better for sure.
I guess i am comparing it to my dirtbike which isnt fair. Mx bikes are like riding on a cloud compared to atv's i think.
Posted by: bayou boy
i may make an appearance....i can use the excuse i need to get my shim kit back
Posted by: RagunCajun
damn looks like we gonna have a good bit of people from these forums. kick ***. It's gonna be nice to put the faces with some more names.

Posted by: RagunCajun
I might head there tomarrow by myself with the shee. I did some work on it today and im anxious to ride it. If yall see a bblack and white banshee, come introduce yourself! Ill be looking for people to ride with probably.
Posted by: RagunCajun
Anybody from here actualy went today? I went by myself with my banshee. I talked to some people but i dont guess any of them were on these forums.
It was pretty fun till they closed off the long strait by the railroad tracks. Gonna bring the dirtbike next time.

My dog ran off with my nut that holds on my wheel-hub...i'm going to kill that dog if i can't find that nut...it's for an LSR axle so i can't just got to Honda and buy another

i used to have a dog that ate my homework. on a serious note is it really different from the stocker?

Well one of my Aussie puppies took it and ran off with it, so my big aussie sniffed the other one and found the lost one for me...
i just rode my quad for the first time in two months or so
I still need to put on my nerfs and ss brakelines and i'm good to go....oh and my spider grips
Posted by: wizzade
Well I am pretty new to riding, but i was wondering how the Kisatchie National Forest trails are? Are they worth a 2 hour drive?
Posted by: Badmammajamma
Headin down to the Spillway not this Sunday but Next. Can't wait
Posted by: RagunCajun
same here if my bud has his rm250 running.
Posted by: mineralgrey01gt
wish i could go, i busted the cases on my motor so im looking for a 310 motor for mine or im going to a hybrid
I already have a run on a yfz 450 engine and a 41.5mm carb for it for $600
Posted by: RagunCajun
esr or whatever their name is makes a 310 kit for the 250r i believe. If you get a good port job you can spank some 450's around.
Posted by: 400eXr1d3rZ
I'd kill for a modded 250r, nothing performance wise, other than a full pipe and jetting...but wheels, nerfs, tires and such. That's my dream quad...a 250r.
Posted by: Badmammajamma
Dang...Might not be able to hit up the Spillway like I planned
Turns out the annual Carlotta Street block party is that weekend...will def be too hung-over for riding.
Hey is there anywheres open to the public close to Baton Rouge at all? When I say open to the public I just mean not "private hunting land."
Posted by: bayou boy
la dunes not this weekend but next. i dont know how serious you are about the hybrid thing or how much cash u want to spend but you can get new crf motors from service honda....at least you know they are new. how bad did you mess the case up? it is not that hard to split the case. i have done it a few times. i find the 2 strokes are alot easier. none are really that hard just take your time pay attention and be careful when it splits so the tranny does not fly apart. the 310pv motor would be sweet with a lil bit of port work. rajun u have the yammi hubs on the banshee still? i have a few sets of paddles you could could try if you want to go to the dunes. my wife dont want to go so i have an open spot on the trailer. i have 3 sets with a 4-110 pattern and one set for a blaster.
Posted by: RagunCajun
yeah i have the stock hubs. If i could barrow a set of paddles or something, id go for sure. Id spot ya some cash for gas or something.
Posted by: bayou boy
i wont be able to go...found out today i have to go on a job out of state monday and wont be back until maybe saturday afternoon. this is the third year in a row at this time of the year i hit a road job. whats the odds of that
Posted by: 400eXr1d3rZ
I may be hittin' up the spillway on saturday if it's not too muddy.
Posted by: bayou boy
i'll be hitting up the dyno saturday morning
Posted by: 400eXr1d3rZ
I'll be at the spillway today, at around 3 or so, if my Dad has time to bring me I can go, he said most likely he will.

Who localy has a dyno that does 4 wheelers? I been looking for one man. The only one i know is on the bayou side down from Kmart. And i think he just does cars/trucks.
Also does it to dirtbikes as well, what are the rates/per pulls etc?
Posted by: bayou boy
bayou vista...i only paid 75.00 for about 1.5 hrs. i dont have the number with me.....i am in mississippi on a job
Posted by: RagunCajun
damn that's awesome. Give me the info whenever you have the time. I wanna dyno my shee.
Posted by: RagunCajun
is it slaughter cycles?
Posted by: bayou boy
same guy....his name is doug. it is right next door to the cycle shop. its called dyneaux services. i am still in gulfport if you cant find the number i will be home over the weekend
Posted by: RagunCajun
went to the spillway yesterday. What a waste. Stayed about 2 hours. It's getting to be less and less place to ride.
On the bright side there were 5 banshees. I brought my yz though.
post that number of the dyno shop when u get the chance. The number i have, no one answers during the weekday.
Posted by: bayou boy
lol...i am back in gulfport until friday saw the card at the house over the weekend. they closed off more area at the spillway? oh yeah...i put the card in my wallet. doug 985 412 6556 leave a message.
Posted by: RagunCajun
thanx, gonna call tomarrow.
Well, they didnt close down any more area but last couple times the back side of teh railroad tracks were open now they arent. I hate no strait aways. Ah well, i had a good time on my yz, glad i brough it.
Posted by: droopy87
i went to the spillway for the first time in a year a few weeks ago,I can't believe how bad they have let that place become, what a complete waste of gas money
Posted by: RagunCajun
went dyno the shee today. Made a good 55.5rwhp. Learned it was lean all over too. Very good to know. That guy/place rocks. I went to dyneaux services over in bayou vista.
Posted by: bayou boy
what kind of torque? he has a nice set up. i will probably be going to la dunes this weekend and we are trying to get a big group to go there for new years weekend
Posted by: HB-Roost
I think we may be going for New Years. I dunno if I have to work this weekend, though, but if not we will prolly be out there.

Nice numbers! What you got done to it?
Posted by: bayou boy
that is good numbers.....that is a very stingy dyno. i am looking fwd to new years. not sure who all is going but looks like jerimiah and dillon and myself. not sure about the women
Posted by: bayou boy
anybody feel like going ride either tomorrow (tuesday) or wednesday. i am on vacation and bored as hell
Posted by: RagunCajun
ahh my damn computer, i have to type this all again. ah well.
ok to make it short. bike made 34rwtq. Doug said my clutch was slipping too, i video taped the pulls and i could hear it. Ah well not big deal. The day after i pull the other 3 HD springs in. mods that affect performance are:
flotek mild play port
lightened flywheel by flotek
t5's
+4 timing
noss head w/ 20cc domes
k&n pods w/ outerwear
94 octane @ 40:1 klotz(maybe a tad bit more oil than that)
noss machine reed spacers
vforce 3 reeds
stock clutch w/ 3 hd springs
http://www.2sly4.us/rc/codys_stuff/...0on%20dyno1.JPG
Learned the bike was lean, turns out i had two different needles in each a carb(checked when i got home). Very odd i didnt catch that the MANY times i've fooled around with jetting. I took care of that and up the mains 1 size. It pulls harder now from low to mid but still has a bog off of idle. Gonna take care of that when i get the time.
I would ride with ya timmy for sure but i am on call all week. It sucks! So what kind of numbers did you make when you went?
Im strongly thinking about getting some pro wedges once i fix my tranny. Spinning pisses me off sometimes.
Posted by: bayou boy
mine was a little lean also. i ended up gaining 1.5hp. not bad for 65.00. it ended up making 40hp and 31 tq. not bad for what it is i wanted to check the jetting and get a baseline idea of hp and tq before i start to build on it. he has a nice set up over there and its close to home. they say the dynomite is a true reading of hp. example the 416 made 38hp on a dynojet dyno where on the dynomite it probably would only make 34. i will be back there in a few months. the pro wedges are nice but they are hard to find. the 4 snow or zippers are an alternative. get some paddles first i think you would get alot more use from them. i have a set of zippers i have not used in almost 2 years. there is nowhere to use them at the spillway anymore. used to be nice on sunday afternoons out there. alot of dragging in the spring. now it sucks. the sand is alot more fun anyway. i am heading to the dunes tomorrow should be a good turnout.
Posted by: RagunCajun
I think he said richining it up wouldnt help the hp numbers too much. I told him i wasnt too concerned about numbers because it's just a play bike. I didnt like the idea of being lean either, that's just bad for the engine. I was hoping for atleast 55 to the wheels and that's what i got. I can hit 60rwhp(according to the guy who did my port jon) with different domes but i wouldnt be able to use race gas.
I thought u took your 450r to get dynoed. My mistake.
Yeah it's not too far of a drive for me either. It's about 45 min from my house. I think i wont go back though. I can "feel" the jetting out to get it close enough.
I also want to get rid of the piece of crap yfz450 front end i have. You talk about garbage!
bah...more money
Posted by: bayou boy
i did dyno the r. once you get it jetted right you can feel when its time to switch. it will feel a little lazy. you propably could get some works shocks for a decent price. they are way better than stock
Posted by: RagunCajun
oh u made 40/31 on the r?
Yeah i might get some works shocks. They are decent and not that badly priced. I dont care for elkas because i have no need for something that nice/expensive. I think i can get some wicked a-arms for like 3-400. My rear shock is already revalved/sprung so that is fine for me.
anything is better than stock suspension on a banshee! haha
Posted by: bayou boy
yup....that is why i say its a stingy dyno...lol actually it is more accurate with no inflated numbers. we did 3 r's the other one made 1 more hp than me but i made 1.5 more tq. the other has a few mods he made 44hp with 36tq. supposedly the dynomite is true power. the funny thing is the one with 1 more hp i pull hard on the top end.....i would rather the torque. my r is pretty much stock except for the hotcam and the pipe. after the 1st of the year i will go in the motor. this weekend is ride weekend. going hit sandstone tomorrow with some guys from 450.org. it is north of alexandria. it is a 31 mile trail loop then saturday morning i am going to la dunes. should be a killer weekend with some good ol tree bashing capped off by sand drags. i should be wore out with a big smile on my face
the shocks are really worth the $$$ my gt thunder revalves are great so far. i knew it made a difference but last weekend a friend and i swapped quads for a while and as soon as i sat on his r it was night and day....it felt tall lol. it really doesnt buck like it used to and i can hit stuff alot harder so far i am very happy
Posted by: HB-Roost
Wish I could make a ride, I crave some dunes. I like the 9 paddles I have, but I am thinking about getting some 22x11x8 regular 8 paddles. These work good for 1st gear launches, but I think it would pull the regulars better. When we went to the clash I was pulling my 20" 8s out of second spinning with a 14t front sprocket.
That is good to hear on the shocks. I am thinking about sending my shocks off during my Christmas break if the wait won't keep me from riding New Years weekend. I may need to wait until after Christmas, though, since I might be broke come that time lol.
I am surprised at how well the little HRC bike runs....it pulls pretty hard for what it has in it. I think it pulls harder on the mid-top than the 06 did. I lost a little over 30 pounds too, so I guess that helps as well. You guys say you are going for New Years, huh?
Posted by: RagunCajun
Yeah tq is so much better than hp. I'm done with my engine. I cant go further because my powerband will become ****ty and ill have to run race gas. Right now my powerband comes on real early and it's very broad. Perfect for playing.
That's some good numbers though. I think mine stock would be only 34ish hp. It would get DETROYED by a 450r or anything close to it.
What are you planning to do to the r in terms of the engine performance? Hopefully you are doing it yourself, shops are expensive!

u lost 30lbs? u gonna blow off that thing...lol. the 9s did good but i had been thinking about trying 2nd gear launches with the 8's. just need somebody to try both against to see the difference. for new years i will bring both sets and compare. not a big crowd there today due to the weather but i did pretty good compared to the others for what i have. the sand was heavy due to the rain though i had to air up the paddles because it was hooking a lil too hard. the 8's would have been better today....lol nice to have choices. friday we did the trail run at sandstone.....awesome place. the trails are some of the best i have ever ridden. the gt revalves passed the test sometimes i hit stuff and thought oooo sheet but it soaked it up. it is a long loop though the last quarter of it the arm pump was killing me. the guys from the org were good to ride with and rode good too.
looking fwd to hitting it again. it was muddy though. my r finally got dirty. i have some flex bars coming so that should help with the arm pump and i started to work out again so that should help. this was ridathon weekend for sure. the only mods i am going to do to the r is a lil higher compression piston and a little port work the flex bars and a stabilizer. nothing extreme i woods ride it alot and want a torquey motor not an all out drag motor. u need to get a set of paddles for the banshee and come out for new years. will be a good time. the only set i have that will fit a yammi is my 9's they have the universal thing but i dont know which set i will run yet. i do all my own work except for porting...i will leave that to the pros. seems like i do alot of other peoples work too come to think of it.

sounds like a good time. all this talk about riding makes me want to ride now. where yall riding this coming weekend?
Posted by: bayou boy
not sure if i am yet. depends on weather
Posted by: wizzade
I am supposed to go ride at z-mans saturday with a friend. Im not sure if thats the name, but i think thats what he said. Anyone ever been there?
Posted by: RagunCajun
never heard of it. probably far from me.
Posted by: HB-Roost
I haven't been, but my buddy rides there occasionally and seems to like it. It is a relatively small MX track, but it is still fun. I have only been to Gravity Alley and to Holeshot once since they reopened, so I don't really have much of enough track experience to compare it anyways.
Probably not riding much at all this weekend. I have to work Saturday all day and Sunday until 2, so the only riding I will be able to get in would be maybe a quick ride at the Spillway on Sunday.

u seem to be working alot.....secretly buying quad parts?

My dad isn't too sure about New Years now since they may be having a shutdown the last weeks of December. I am still set on going, though....he better just find a way to get his *** out there lol. We need to plan a ride to that Sandstone place...I want to check it out.
Glad that the revalves worked good. Those Flexx bars should make for one smoooth ride. I'd love to try a pair but they are just so pricey! I have no idea what to get my shocks set to, though, when I send them out. I like trails WAY more than MX, but I have been riding MX alot lately since the tracks are easier to find since my buddy rides them alot. What would a dune setup be like?

Shhh...lol. Nah, I figure it is about time to really start saving up plus I am going to college pretty soon. Hopefully I won't have to pay for too much, but better to be prepared!
Posted by: bayou boy
i think the xc setup works well in the dunes it rolls through the whoops pretty good. i think the xc setup may be ok with some mx. alot of the gncc races have mx tracks built in the course. maybe call gt and ask about it. he could probably answer that better. if pop cant make it for new years you can ride with us if you can get a ride to houma or i can pick u up in lafayette. we should be making a trip to sandstone again soon....it was kind of cool to hit the trails then go to the dunes after. la dunes is about 1.5 hrs from it. hopefully i got all the new goodies on the quad before new years. just waiting on the brown van. did you get to run the 07 against the 06? good deal on saving for college i wish my daughter would figure out what she wants to do she is running out of time.
Posted by: HB-Roost
Yeah, that is what I was thinking on the XC setup. I guess I will give them a call sometime this week and see what they have to say about it.
We ran the 07 against all the bikes. It is really unfair, though, because I win easily no matter what bike I am on. His black 07 has a 13:1 JE and a light port job now (it needs a new cam bad, though) and I am right beside him all the way on the 400EX. The 07s seem to pull pretty close to each other by seat of the pants...I think a big reason of why the 06 and 07 pull different is mostly jetting more than the slight differences in setup. He has a 182 main and I have a 162.
Thanks, BTW for saying that you would give me a ride. I don't know if I need one yet or not, but I surely appreciate it!

I ordered a shift shaft assembly today and a few other things to go with it. Hopefuly it fixes my shifting problem.
Anybody know someone that has some used pro wedges w/ rims that will fit on a banshee(stock banshee hubs). I want to see how they work on my shee w/o spending he full out on new ones.

good luck on that one. maybe planet sand. if you had honda pattern i could let u try my zippers (similar). u got the yammi curse. the cheapest new is rocky mountain for zippers or dennis kirk for 4 snow. i think they discontinued the pro wedge 1 a few years ago. the shift shaft in the shee is bad? that is a fun fix.
steven out of curiousity...does the rossier piped quad pull harder on the top end than the others? mine seems to be alot stronger than most on the big end and i am curious if its the pipe.

I think you just got a runner lol. I don't really notice that the Rossier makes much of any difference on the top than the HRC exhaust if any, really. It gives way more bottom-mid, especially mid (the black 07 has the Rossier on it and I come off the line in 3rd gear spinning bad in the Spillway). I am thinking it is that green wire mod making a better curve than the Vortec (?). I am gonna send that defective Hotcam off to Hotcams and see if they ship me a new one...if they do I will put it in the black 07 and you can compare two very similar bikes on how they run on the top end to try to narrow stuff down ( I can run some different setups and whatnot to see how each pulls).
Posted by: bayou boy
dont waste money on the vortex. on the dyno the highest power producing curve was found then he took the vortex off and used the stocker with green wire mod to see.....guess what stocker pulled like .3 more. not alot more with the stock but why waste $$$ for nothing. needless to say the two vortex ignitions are for sale. the sparks pipe pulled 1 more hp than the rossier but the rossier makes 1.5 more tq. the sparks pipe feels stronger in the mid with a hit but the rossier is smoother. in the real world we are about dead even till i hit 4th then its bye bye. its not rider either. me and jerimiah are about even in that dept. strange thing is the rossier makes torque lower in the band than the sparks but holds it longer. nice to have dyno close by to see all that. and a long stretch of hwy to prove it. strange thing is dillions quad has a dasa port with the big valves and bored carb and Je piston. his only dynoed 5 more hp than mine and 4 more lb of tq. but i can pass him in 4th also. it seems to fall on its face. i am not sold on dasa. i think more hp can be made for far less money from someone else. i am thinking about giving colby a shot on my port work. i think he did a hell of a job on the 400 it is definitly a runner and you can call and say hey man hows it going with no sales pitch
Posted by: RagunCajun
Heh, shift shaft assembly is very easy to replace. I'm just hoping it's that. I think there's the pro wedge 2's that are out right now. That's what i meant. It would be a drag only tire. The question is would i have issues keeping the front down.
I wish i could help you guys with the recommondations but i dont know anything about the 4 stroke genre. That's all i see at the spillway though. One thing i notice though, they hook very well.
How many lengths you are beating people by when you say "bye bye?"
Do yall race till yall both top out then see who's got more top speed? Just curious.
Posted by: bayou boy
bye bye is when i start walking away. on those particular runs it was 5th gear pinned till we topped out. usually it is 3 to 500 feet. they say the pro wedge 2 is not as good as the 1. it would still be a good tire though. tires like this take a lil getting used to on the launch. you just have to feel it out. on the 416 i feathered out the clutch. on the 450 i can let it go a lil faster. you want some spin but not too much. you can play with air pressure to kind of dial it in. on the top end they swell like a dragster tire does which gives u a taller gaer on the top
Posted by: RagunCajun
Yeah that's what my engine porter guy said. It's like having another gear cuz they swell to ~28". If i get my shift issue fixed, i think i will buckle down and buy some. They are $200 mounted.
I want it purely for traction. I hate having to play catch up. I raced some 450r's over and over again last time at the spillway and i couldnt do ****. I'm not worried about lauching it, it's just the matter of it coming up after i get going. The powerband is nuts.
Posted by: HB-Roost
Colby is the man! I have to say, the guy that did the 07's head could have taken out more (it was a light recreational port), but he seems to have done a real good job on it also. He reminded me alot of Colby...real down to Earth and straight forward. If I have another head ported it will be going to Colby, though. He did some work on the 400s and I am confident in what he does-for the price you can't beat it.
Yeah, the ignitions are a waste on these bikes. It is definately interesting that you pull like that on the top end! The Rossier is more like a shorty compared to alot of other pipes, but it pulls well all the way through.
I want to get a set of some Zippers or something similar in the future as well, just for some dragging on dirt. Those things do wonders! They would prolly help out a Banshee a ton. They make tons of power but they spin so damn much on anywhere but asphalt it is hard to use. Taller gearing all the way through plus the grip they provide would help stretch that power out really well.
Posted by: RagunCajun
Well, i wouldnt worry about asphalt. It takes a totaly different set up to hook up on asphalt. i.e. slicks, lowering it a lot, struts and tons of set up adjustments till you get it right. I thought about going that route but it would be a total money pit. The shee's that run at no problem raceway(only asphalt track around me) has 90+ hp bikes that run high 6's. That's nuts.
As for gearing, i hade a one tooth higher in the front sprocket but went back to stock. I personaly dont have a need for anything more than stock gearing because i dont run any very long straits. Plus i can care less about top speed. Stock gearing is more than fast enough on a four wheeler lol. For me atleast.
I might go the one tooth bigger front sprocket and go with pro wedge 2's. That way it's less shifting and i just probably wont have to use 6th gear. Shift i am thinking about this too much considering my bike is just a play bike.
If you ever get those tires and wanna do some friendly drags, let me know. I need practice anyways. I suck off the line. I get nervious and inconsistent
Posted by: bayou boy
i would not change the sprocket untill you try the tires. the wedge type are 22" i find they are a tall 22. that is like adding a bigger sprocket. the wedges work ok in the sand. spin a bit off the line but come back strong. they definitly work better than stockers
Posted by: RagunCajun
Yeah i dont plan on changing the sprockets. It's very hard to beat stock gearing on a shee unless u pushing around 90hp plus.
First things first....needa fix my shift issue. Parts come in tomarrow so im keeping my fingers crossed!
*update: it seems to work fine now after the shift shaft and springs change. It shifts much better. Anybody up for riding tomarrow?
Posted by: HB-Roost
I will prolly go out to the Spillway for a quick ride around 2:30. I have to work 9-2, so I won't be able to go any earlier.
Posted by: RagunCajun
that's too late for me. i usualy leave at that time. ah well, ima see about next weekend. im on vacation the week of the 10th
Posted by: HB-Roost
Yeah, that is what I figured. I am probably off next weekend...maybe Sunday I can make a ride. Tomorrow I will probably just be teaching someone how to ride for the most part anyhow.
Posted by: RagunCajun
I went today with a couple riding buddys. Got there about 11 and left at about 6. Had a good time, anybody else went? I was on my banshee.
Posted by: HB-Roost
I was there for a little while. I think I was the only one out there with a white 450r from 2:30 to like 5 or so. I saw 3 Banshees I believe, but I never saw them racing or anything...just cruising through to the back or to the parking lot. You may have been one of them, idk...I was gonna stop and chat with some people by the strip but I never had a chance to, so if you were there sorry I didn't say hi!

I dont know if it was me. We didnt ride much till late. We sat around my buds RV and chilled with the ocasional ride. We then drag raced a good bit before dark.
They had a drag bike yfz450 stretched, drag pipe the whole nine yards. I was curious to know what he had done to it.
this is my bike hb. she isnt much though.

We did a lot more talkin than we did riding haha. We had such a good time though. Real nice group of people there sunday.
Posted by: bayou boy
they have a spot to drag again?
Posted by: RagunCajun
no but i was desperate. It was the highway side of the railroad tracks where people been runnin at. Basicly shut the bikes down in 3rd/4th gear. Very sad but it's all there is with that crappy constuction. I can not wait till that's all done.
We stayed till dark waiting for the workers to knock off so we could go do some drag racing on the long roads that are off limits but they worked pass dark.
Anybody have any idea when the constuction will be done with?
Posted by: 480r#121
i was also there sunday racing on the highway side of the tracks
Posted by: RagunCajun
What you were riding?
Posted by: bayou boy
the construction will probably be a while they are using the clay for the levees. if i am not mistaken they are digging out that whole area. you could probably sneak in a quick run or two on the long section then hit the old perimeter trail at the end and disappear. the trail is still there but a little overgrown. i thought about making a little grader to pull behind the utility and smooth the old drag area. i think it would be ez to sneak in and do...so far we are still hitting la. dunes for new years
Posted by: RagunCajun
that would be cool to have a smooth dirt road there long enough to drag on. By long i mean enough length to top out. Id go there almost every weekend if there was such a thing.
Posted by: bayou boy
years ago there were some great areas there. it has been in a decline for about the last 3 years. alot of the issue is help not alot of people volunteer to work out there.
Posted by: RagunCajun
anybody wants to make a ride sunday for a little while?
I gotta head to cycle world for some tranny oil tomarrow and adjust my banshees clutch so no riding tomarrow for me.
Posted by: bayou boy
maybe...i am working sunday this week but till 2:30. if i go it would be about 3:30 4 ish. i want to try the flex bars what better place than the rough *** spillway. i will let u know tomorrow
Posted by: RagunCajun
I totaly forgot i am going to the Hornets game all day sunday. I remembered after i posted that.
Posted by: HB-Roost
Well, I might be going. I dunno. Timmy, if you go, I will for sure. I bet that thing is gonna ride smooottthh!
I did see that YFZ when I was out there. I wanted to see how it ran against some other fast bikes, but I didn't go back to see it. I think I did see you, Ragun, underneath the tracks with another guy on a white/red Banshee at one time. I like the grill lol.
Yeah, the Spillway has tons of problems and not alot of help. I think alot of the reason is that people feel their hard work will be trashed in no time because they can't regulate the place. Why waste so much time when it will go to **** the first time some rain comes or something, ya know? In any case, it really does need to be fixed up and maintained somehow....I wouldn't mind helping if I can one day when I have time.
Posted by: bayou boy
i am not going tomorrow. i just got back from making a ride at one of jerimiah's friends. he has a nice peice of land with a few jumps and a real long straight. i like the flex bars they work well. i made a few runs and jumps on jerimiah's 450 and you could definitly tell a difference in the 2 quads suspension. i am on vacation the week between xmas and new years so i will get some time then. i am working every day till dec 22. so far it looks like 6 quads are going with us to the dunes for new years....should be a good ride
Posted by: RagunCajun
Yeah HB, that was us. Should came introduce yourself man. We just talked a lot more than we road haha. That yfz was decent but i wasnt impressed. It was stupid loud though
. I like how 4 strokes still maintain awesome low end even though they get a lot of engine work. the 450's/400s were stand the front end up in 3rd and 4th down the strip. Pretty neat. There was a yellow 400 suzuki quadsport doing very well too. I always thought the quadsports were a good bit slower than their big brother the quadracer. Goes to show u i know nothing about them! haha.
As for me, i spent most of yesterday afternoon wrenching. I adjusted my clutch, wow was it out of adjustment! I also installed a chain slider and that took almost an act of congress to get on there. Once i read the instructions i had it on in minutes
. Tomarrow i will go ride it and see if she shifts good.
As for the grill, i love it too. cant be beat for $30 shipped.
HB, if you head out there let me know man. I am not going unless i can find someone to ride with. I'm pretty sure that guy i was with last time(red/white shee), we going this week sometime.
Posted by: RagunCajun
im going to the spillway tomarrow...
Posted by: 400eXr1d3rZ
I haven't posted in a while, I need to fix up my quad...needa change my gaskets, put my nerfs on and stuff.
Other than that, my birhday is on the 18th, 7 days from today.

is anyone going to do the spill way thing this weekend?
rajun i was on a red 450r number 696 on back
Posted by: RagunCajun
yeah i remember seeing that come to think of it. i think u was one of many who kicked my *** haha.
A few of us are trying to make it sunday for around 10am. I am not to crazy about it suppose to be 30 degrees though.
My poor shee is out of commission as of now with an overheating problem so ima be on my dirtbike is i go

--if yall go tomarrow, come say hello. im going as well as a couple others with banshees.

Posted by: RagunCajun
sounds good, come introduce yourself ill prob get there before you do but no telling with traffic and stuff around the house that needs to get done before haha.
Posted by: mineralgrey01gt
quite a few of us are going to the spillway saturday so if anyone is there stop in and say hey. Ill be on the 250r with holeshots all the way around and no fenders, my brother will have his out there, it will have red fenders with old school 250r stickers on it, and my buddy will have his 05 banshee out there as well.
Posted by: bayou boy
i guess sooner or later i will get to go ride it. been working every day since new years.

Awesome. You need to post some pics, I bet it looks great..I picked up some flat black paint to start trimming my bike in (Prolly will stick with black and white...maybe some red idk). Can't beat that kind of color.
I start ordering my parts tonight, and if I am not using my bike next week, then I am sending my shocks off ASAP. Going with GT Thunder also, Derisi's return time feedback is horrible. Can't wait.
What is your feedback on the Flexx bars? I have really been thinking of a set after riding with yours, I loved the bend and the feel, but they are big $$ and I am debating on whether they or worth it. What setup are you running?
Posted by: bayou boy
i wont post pics until i have everything on. waiting on nerfs and my grab bar. the aluminum catches your eye and throws the whole thing off. so i will wait till it is all blacked out. i like the color it is very neutral and blends well. i like the flex bars alot but i think you still need a stabilizer as the flex bars dont take the side to side impact out. i got the presicion on just have not had a chance to try it. i think together they will work great only downfall is the money for all that but it is worth it. i love the revalves also money well spent. just need the tires...lol. the bend i have i dont remember. i know it is the dirtbike bars. i told colby what riser i wanted and he suggested the dirtbike bars because the bend and height would match the riser better. i went with his suggestion and i feel it is good. they are a little higher than stock which is more comfy when standing but dont rake back too far. the riser i have is the trail tech.

Awesome. That is gonna be a sweet setup.
Yeah, I am ordering a stabilizer also...I am gonna try one of those from CCP on Ebay, though. I am not expecting a precision, but I have heard good things on it and it is the same price as the stick so I think I will try it out.

they dont care. they are real laid back. i will try to make it on the sunday

Posted by: bayou boy
have not talked to u in a while. i am still on the same top end on the 416 no probs. i will be getting rid of it though. the wife wants a 450 too

we have my nephews graduation party that saturday so i am out. we go out there about every other month. i am sure we will go soon. i will let you know

Sucks that you can't make it out there this trip, Timmy. We are going. It seems that we work on opposite schedules lol.
But yeah, hope to see you out there Kiesta. It should be pretty fun. Not sure what we are gonna have out there yet. Look for the black Silverado with a big Honda banner across the back window. I know what your bike looks like so if I see you I will come hollar.
Posted by: kiesta00
Sounds good! I just got my motor back from being rebuilt so I'm about to ride it for the first time!!
Hope it runs good for next weekend.

hey guys, new to this thread, but not the dunes. i was there this weekend, REALLY big turnout. i had to wait an hour just to make it in!!!

wish I could have made it out there. My 250r started hesitating yesterday so I am trying to fix that which I think I have done.

Posted by: HB-Roost
Craig sucks. I will see if I can get in touch with him, but he is a horrible person to do business with...and that is from the ends of both buying and selling. I don't like make it such an opinionated matter, but Craig can really be a shady character only interested in his own matters.
Anyway, I have a buddy that is pretty good friends with him and I will see if maybe I could get him to give you a call or W/E. Good luck....

they are having a workday this saturday 6/28 at the spillway to start the process of getting it reopened for us to ride. it starts at 7am they are meeting in the parking lot.

You going? I'd like to help...

yup i will be there. the more the better and the faster it will open

Coolio. You know what type of stuff we are gonna be doing? Cause I don't know if I have anything to bring but can help with smaller stuff or whatever we have.
Posted by: bayou boy
not sure on everything they doing they had something about signs. they also asked for people to bring shovels etc. i will bring the brute and the brush mower and the small trailer to pull behind a ute.

we are going to the dunes for the 4th

IDK about the dunes, I will see. I am scheduled to work that weekend but will most likely get off.

Coolio on the Spillway.
Yeah, we are undecided about what we are gonna do b/c we still haven't hit up Sandstone (plans failed) and want to, but with ya'll going to the dunes it is a tough call. The plus to the dunes is maybe we can try out the 05 in some sand...I basically took the bike over and have been tuning it in over the last couple weeks - we went back with the stock swinger and all of that good stuff, too. Finally resolved the recent fuel problem and it is doing pretty well. Stock carb and CDI and it pulls the **** outta the black 07 - especially on the top side (both with stock gearing). I take off outta fourth gear on dirt and it still lights the stockers up!

Our group will probably have 2 banshees, a badass 400ex, and a stock yfz.
Post some pics of your bike so I know who to look for. I'll get some of mine up later.
