I'm too lazy to post that much, doesn't matter. WHO WANTS TO RIDE ON SATURDAY? Spillway? I'm going to Breax Bridge on Sunday, or possibly Gatorland.

Posted by: bayou boy

as of right now we are going to the spillway tomorrow.

Posted by: bayou boy

is set.....will be there tomorrow (sat) about 10am

I went today, not many people...but I should be there tommorow, i'll have red troylee pants on, sixsixone chest protector the same crappy blue HJC helmet with no visor (that's what happens your head meets the ground) and sparks full pipe with a bad *** red collar on it

Posted by: bayou boy

i am thinking there should be a good crowd tomorrow being sunday is easter and everyone is off for the weekend. they still have a decent area to drag? it will be me and 2 of my friends. i got ol yella and they will be on each a 450r black in color.

Posted by: CHEVYZ

We will be out there. You already know what I look like, red helmet now on a 07 450r (black and red). My dad will be on the 06.

Posted by: 400eXr1d3rZ

So...what's new?

Posted by: bayou boy

i'm getting a 450 real soon.....

???

I know you probably won't tell us, but I just had to ask, too. I am guessing probably something that Jeremiah doesn't have? lol.

Posted by: bayou boy

LTR??? lol y would i want a slower quad? it will be either an 06' or 07' honda. jerimiah just wont know whats lurking inside...hey...keep that taper bored carb info between us. that is on my list of things to do but i dont want him to know about it....lol. my wife is taking my 400 but first i need to put a new clutch in it and do the heavy studs then buy a 450 and strip it down.

Posted by: CHEVYZ

Haha, that is great. Awesome choice of bike, I was thinking it would be between the KFX and the 450r. And LMAO about the Suzuki. You hit the nail on the head with that one...we went to the Spillway about a week ago and I stomped one so bad I actually (and literally) pissed him off. Ahahaha!

That is great about the EX, too. That will be a great bike for her once she gets the feel of it. It is heavier, but once you get the feel of them you don't notice it!

Posted by: Mc. Muffin

Get a 450R.... I had nothing but trouble with my YFZ but I guess its because my yammi is a 2005, (electronic and carb issues on that year)

I fixed it for you.

lol

Posted by: CHEVYZ

Really, what was the problem? I have two buddies with 2005s, and both ran pretty good up until recently they have had a few problems, but I do not know if they ever looked at them yet. (?)

Well sometimes I will be riding my 450 and it will just bog down and die for no reason, I will wait about 10 minutes and crank the YFZ up and ride it, sometimes it dies later on and sometimes it does perfect throughout the ride. I might have to break down and spend 400 bucks on a new carb
The electric issues aren't really an issue, when I first got my YFZ I had some issues with the wiring harness with the head lights would work and sometimes they would not but I fixed that problem

Posted by: bayou boy

the electric issues may be the grounding. even if it feels tight take it loose clean it and retighten. check this pic out....since hurricane rita they have been catching tarpon in the freshwater bayous near my house. well yesterday i got me one...lol we had 4 lines out trolling in the bayou like you do offshore. we had 2 fish hookup but lost one

Posted by: CHEVYZ

Haha, dayum. Nice catch!

We went to Sand Hill today...damn EX blew the head gasket again. I am not mad, we were running 21" 10 paddle extremes pumped to the max racing up the hill with it (not a great setup, surprisingly it pulled them a little better than the 06 did), plus I had to pull several bikes including of of our buddy's drag Banshee with the biggest damn tires ever on it. hehe. Anyway, it was a fun trip...lots of fast bikes out there today!

Hey, do you know of any places that stock big bore gaskets around here?

Posted by: bayou boy

i find the ex has a lil more bottom end torque than the 450....the 450 power seems smoother all the way across....know how you have to short shift the ex to get the most out of it. i been wanting to go to sand hill but i need to change the clutch first. that 8 disc holds up well but taching up the motor and dumping the clutch pulling extremes takes its toll. i will prolly order a clutch this week so i can head out there. i know of no place around here that stocks the oversize gaskets.....maybe colby can get u one quick.

Posted by: bryan70546

hello everyone just another la fellow checking in to say hi.

Posted by: bayou boy

whats up bryan....where u ride? cool to see another 30 something around. i hear there may be a good crowd at la dunes memorial day weekend. may head up there the sat. want to try to hit sand hill not this weekend but next. hopefully my clutch will be in early next week

Posted by: CHEVYZ

Aww, that sucks. Guess I will just have to order one. Hopefully we can have it done for the week after next to go back to Sand Hill...I will have to have it done sometime in the week, though. I'd love to make it out to LA Dunes, too, but IDK.

Oh, and Bryan's got him an EX, too. Woot woot.

Posted by: bryan70546

i dont have anywheres to ride right now ,just the beaches around here ,and in the country where my parents live ,waiting on a new edelbrock carb to arrive along with a new set of itp tires and rims, high torque starter and some other goodies ,i leave to go offshore tonight and will be back in a week ,by then all my parts will be home and i can start installing everything i plan on going to holly beach when i get back to go camping it looks a whole better after hurricane wiped it all out .i just hope this carb solves all the problems i am having with my 440 .i hope it does because i am ready to ride i picked up a brand new 14ft trailer for 900 bucks yesterday and shes loaded up and ready to go.hopefully when i put the carb on she will idle for me and wont spit and sputter and backfire.bryan

Posted by: kiesta00

Im hoping to go to the dunes for memorial day weekend too, I finally got some 72RO 10extremes and my +6 swinger on there but I burnt up my dam clutches, so hopefully I'll have it running again by that time. Next is cr ignition!! Why dont these mods ever end??!!

Posted by: whiteboycustom

a few weeks back me and a buddy made a trip to martin beach, signs posted saying keep atv's off the dunes, talked to a local cop and he said the beach is ok to ride but dont act like fools and the state made it where u cant ride the dunes between the grass and the beach,

anyone have any input on that??

and la dunes was fun to me even though i had a flat on ym paddle and had to run razor's, i have new extreme haulers to test out i might make it out that weekend

Posted by: bayou boy

yall will like the extremes they hook way better...i ordered my clutch today....$162 with shipping... that was the discs, plates & springs for a gt thunder 8 disc. that kit works killer but a lil pricey to replace the clutch. looks like i may get to put a few faces with names at the dunes looking fwd to it. may be my last trip on the ol ex...lol i been saying that for a while

Posted by: bryan70546

ok so when are we all going to get toghther and plan a ride i have nobody to ride with dammit ,and where are the l dunes besides in la.lol

Posted by: bayou boy

hows sand hill this coming sunday (5/20) and la dunes next weekend sound? come on guys i gots me a new clutch and ya only live once

I would, but yeah, no paddles

Posted by: 400eXr1d3rZ

So look what happened to me today, I now have a giant gash in my arm...I probably need stitches but i'm not getting them.

Posted by: whiteboycustom

wheres sand hill????

Posted by: bayou boy

sand hill would be a good haul for you....it is in wiggins mississippi...roughly about 1.5 hrs north east of new orleans. cool place to ride though. the guy grades the sand about every 1/2 hr or so. it is one of the smoother places to race

Posted by: kiesta00

Is it large like the la dunes or more or less a 6bike wide drag track type area? How far would that be from lafayette?

Posted by: whiteboycustom

ah i see, yea im a good 4 hours from new orleans depending on all the construction, im 2 hours or so from la dunes though, only if barney would get the picture and do some up keep on the place

Posted by: bayou boy

it is about the same size as la dunes but the drag area is groomed and set up for only two quads at a time with a sand berm between them..(safety). in some ways i like it more than la dunes but i also like the 10 wide quad bumping drags at la dunes. add 1.5 hr to how ever long it takes to get to new orleans from laf.

Posted by: bayou boy

quads loaded and ready.....sand hill tomorrow.....any one else??

Posted by: kiesta00

finally got my clutches in but I still wont make it, i'm leaking tranny oil in my stator side cover

Posted by: bryan70546

well we need to come up with a get toghther ,i have all my goodies on my bike and the best parts its runs its *** off with the new edelbrock carb on it ,just odered the ltr duel exuest kit a few minutes ago ,got my new tires and rims in just have to put them on when i get back from offshore ,put a new high torque starter on it,side scoops , brakes .ready to run now cant wait till i can put on my duel pipes should really wake that 440 up pretty good.

Wow, I haven't been in here enough! What the hell is with all these trips I didn't know about? lol

What have ya'll been up to lately? Not much riding lately, but we are planning on LA Dunes the last week of next month.

Posted by: bryan70546

count me in if you go just give me heads up.

Posted by: bayou boy

more than likely i can hit the dunes that weekend too. we went to sand hill about a month ago but have not ridden since. i have been pretty much at work ever since

Posted by: CHEVYZ

Cool, hope you guys can make it. It is always nice to meet with new people-we would love to meet you bryan70546, and obviously Bayou Boy is an AWESOME person to ride with so we definately want you to make it. LMK....hope ya'll can make it.

Posted by: bayou boy

exactly what weekend are you looking to go...got tommys 400 coming in my shop next sat and was wondering if he will be ready to go by then.

Posted by: CHEVYZ

Actually, schedule change....it is the last weekend of this month....so the week after next that we are going. Kind of moved things forward on me...

What is wrong with the 400? The gasket, right?

Posted by: CHEVYZ

Either that, or the following weekend-which would be weekend following July 4? Which would be best?

Posted by: 400eXr1d3rZ

I'm not riding until I get my parts in

Posted by: bayou boy

not sure which weekend would be better as far as turnout. i can probably go either one. we are going to install the heavy studs in his the front left stud pulled. we are thinking about a 13:1 426 while we got it down. he already has the heavy duty rod so why stay with the 10:8:1

Cool. Sounds good on his bike...I finally changed that POS Namura gasket for a cometic so ours is good again. Hope it works like the first, it lasted a long time through alot of racing. There was a little scar in the head, though, and that worries me. I tried to shave it down with a file to take it out a bit, and I did, but if it blows again I am gonna have to take it to a machine shop this time...which sucks. Anyway, if you throw his bike together with that piston and those studs it will rip!

Posted by: kiesta00

I'm hoping to go riding the weekend before july 4th too, I just hope I can get my bike running/tuned correctly with alcohol.

Any of you guys have experience with alcohol and 2strokes??

Posted by: CHEVYZ

Not really, ever thought about maybe trying a local "two-stroke guy" like Craig at CP Customs? Most of the guys I know tend to be a little more knowledgable with the 4-strokes as compared to the 2-strokes.

Posted by: bayou boy

i know how to drink alcohol and ride a 2 smoke. they have a guy in jennings named phil he owns motomadness dyno. more than likely he can help you he pulled 3 more ponies out of mine and i got a jet chart for temp and humidity. his quad is an alcoholic and he tunes alot of different quads. he runs the dyno for the clash. very cool guy and very reasonable on price. i cant find his number but may be able to find it on planet sand or atvdirtbikerecreation.com (sicily island site)

Posted by: CHEVYZ

We are gonna go the weekend before July 4, so that would be June 29, 30, and July 1 that we will be out there. There is supposed to be a pretty nice turnout for both weekends, though!

Posted by: bayou boy

ok i scammed to be off this weekend so i am definitly going..probably will have 5 including myself. who all is going and what day are yall leaving to go there. i am debating either fri afternoon or early sat morning coming home sunday morning

Posted by: CHEVYZ

Awesome! We are leaving early Friday. So far we only know about me, my dad, and Kelly going for sure. I am waiting to hear back from Ryan, and two guys with 450rs. Coming home sometime Sunday.

Posted by: charger90

yall going to la dunes this weekend? what about next weekend? what do yall ride so ill know who to look for?

Posted by: CHEVYZ

This weekend only, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We will definately have a red '99 400EX and a black '06 450r with us. Pulling up in an older model green Chevy Silverado.

Posted by: bayou boy

we may leave early sat morning to be there about 10 am. try to block off a little room for me and ashley to set up our tent by yall. loks like my group of 5 is down to me and the wife. we will be staying till sunday also. charger90 this is my quad stop in and say hi

Posted by: CHEVYZ

Alright, we can do that. Sucks about all the people not coming....Ryan has to miss it also thanks to a wedding. All good, though.

Posted by: charger90

yeah if we go it will be sat afternoon i have police training fri evening and sat morning. is it supposed to be a big ride this weekend and next?

Posted by: CHEVYZ

Yep. A bunch of people are supposed to be going both weekends, but much more are coming this weekend in comparison.

Posted by: coolkid91

Posted by: bayou boy

Posted by: 400eXr1d3rZ

Was anyone at the spillway Sunday with a KFX450, dropped 450r, banshee, and a LTR450?

Posted by: CHEVYZ

Nah, I wish. I went to Gravity Alley MX with my buddy. Played around out there all day. I would have probably went otherwise. How was it?

Posted by: 400eXr1d3rZ

I'm getting 3000 dollars in parts this week or possibly next week

Shocks take some building time

Damn! What are you setting it up for-MX? Shocks are a must out there. I had a hard time with the stockers on the 450r, and they are much better than the stockers on the EX.

Timmy, I wasn't there a few weeks ago

I'll be going there soon though...my friends got quad stolen and he told me he'll let me borrow his paddles...but they're 10 paddle extremes, it can't hurt THAT bad, eh?

Posted by: bayou boy

chevy was there with us a few weeks ago......u wont turn 10 paddle extremes way to much paddle for a 400

Posted by: CHEVYZ

Yeah, LMAO...that was pretty funny out there. All the Yamaha boys were down.

Ah man, that one guy out there with the blue lights on his YFZ was hilarious.....I seem to remember this conversation...

*"See that, you need a Yamaha boy to start these Hondas!"

@"Yeah, haha"

*"See that, that is when you know you got that fiya! (Pointing to his exhaust)"

@"Yeah"
(His bike stumbles and dies)

*"Uh-oh"

@"What"

*"Think you can pull start me"

@"Haha, so what, you need a Honda to start these Yamahas, huh?!"

*"Nevermind, I don't need ya'll!"

(comes back with a Honda utility to pull him)

@"That looks like a Honda right there!"

*"Shut up, don't look at the name on the side!"

Yeah, the 10 paddles will be hell on your quad. My bike makes some pretty good torque and the ten paddles really kill it. It makes my bike feel like it is vibrating apart, LMAO!

Posted by: 400eXr1d3rZ

It'll give me an excuse for a stroker kit and more power!

Posted by: Mc. Muffin

Anyone being to the track in Kentwood?

Posted by: CHEVYZ

I have not, but I know some people who have and they really seem to like it.

Posted by: bayou boy

that fiya in his exhaust got extinguished a few times by the ol 416. that guy was funny....almost as funny as the 502 guy. wish you could have been there for that. the junky blaster drag quad was funny too

Posted by: CHEVYZ

LMAO, I hear you on that! Wish we could have came that weekend. It is always funny to see what and who comes out there....I just can't believe some of the people.

Posted by: coolkid91

me and some of my family will be at the dunes sat. the 28th.Tell me if youll be there.Ill be riding this

Same....

Just got back from Florida, so I couldn't have gone anyway.

Posted by: bayou boy

cool lets do it soon. my boat will be sold next monday. going to pick up an R next week hopefully. may lay low to learn it before i go there though.....i dunno i could bring both i guess. know anyone looking for a blaster?

Posted by: CHEVYZ

Definately. Nice on the R...I see that you are going for an 06/07, too. Good choice. It will be cool to see how different setups work out, I know that you will make it a ripper. You will learn it through and through pretty quickly.

I should have the 07 ready this weekend, also. So whenever ya'll want to make it out there.

I am not sure on the Blaster, but I know some people looking for a quad right now.
How much are you looking to get out of it and I will LYK.

480r#121, I may be going to the spillway sunday if I find a place for my rear rezzie to be mounted, I just got my shocks in yesterday, axis fronts and TCS rear, i mounted my damn rear backwards

Anyway, it hasn't much done to it, pipe, filter, jetted...and the shocks and some other cosmetic things, I still have ot put on my nerfs, pro-tapers, lsr axle, and my brakelines (that i haven't recieved yet)

Yeah, well, uhh... It says I have to drill a hole in my god damn pegs!!!!!!! GAH! I don't want to do that... is that like mandatory that I drill those holes? Or can my quad live without it?

Maybe the 400EX's and the YFZ450's are different because all I needed to do is unbolt the stock pegs, peg mounts and heel guards and then bolt the pro peg mounts that were supplied by AC Racing and then wedge the two ends together and mount the front brackets to the engine mounts.

Do you have regular nerfs or pro pegs nerfs?

I dunno but shouldn't you be able to take off the stock pegs since your nerf bars have pegs mounted on them?
I don't know much about Honda quads but maybe bayou boy or chevyz can help.

If you necessary need to drill a couple holes in your pegs it shouldn't be a hastle....nothing a cordless drill can't handle.

When were you guys at LA DUNES?

We went July 6-8

Posted by: 480r#121

hey everybody hittin up spill way later today

Posted by: bayou boy

i have the x factor with pro pegs. yes you have to drill a hole. so ez a caveman can do it. mine had the holes predrilled in the stainless pegs just had to set it where i wanted it and use the pegs as a template to mark the holes then drill. the ac should be similiar. we were at the dunes the weekend before the 4th.

labor day weekend....la dunes?

Posted by: 400eXr1d3rZ

Actually, I may be able to make this trip! That is if I get my gaskets changes, axle on, and nerfs on soon. I've been working my *** off trying to get the axle nut off, I got the jamnut seperated from the axle nut, but The axle nut will not turn ANYMORE and it a pain in the ***, I threading the axle nut on and off and only getting an inch closer to off each damn time...I'm getting sick of it and about to just bring it to the dealer.

Posted by: RagunCajun

Going to the spillway tomarrow. Anybody else going?

Posted by: bayou boy

no spillway for me for a while....we went 2 sundays ago and it sucked bad. all rutted no place to really open it up. also the woods section is closed. hey ragun...we talked on planet sand my name there is timmy p. we went ride today on our trails off the kraemer road today. the more i ride the 450 the more i like it. it begs to be ridden hard. i rode the ol' 400 today for about 5 minutes. no comparison it felt so slow and bulky. lol it is officially the wifes quad now

Posted by: RagunCajun

damn man, ya shoulda called me up haha. I was busy wrenchin on the shee to get her ready for tomarrow. As long as my gasket on the clutch cover holds up, ill be rippin it up.

And yeah i went like 3 weekends ago and it wasnt that great. It was my first time there. 1 section was closed and there wasnt any place i could get pass 4th really. I got called out to drag by a yfz450. i was so excited.

Yeah those 450's are nice but i love my shee. It's not fast but it's fun!

a big az hammer may do it. i need more paddle the 8 extremes i use on the 400 are not enough it spins way to much out the hole. we had a good rain up there sat afternoon. once the sand was wet it hooked real good. it is faster than jerimiah's on the top end. guess i will be buying another set of paddles. my garage already looks like tire kingdom. i wont be riding for a few weeks i am bringing it in tomorrow for the starter clutch recall then i will be shipping the shocks off to gt thunder for a revalve and new link. then fast flex bars and a precision stabilizer i should be good to go in the handling dept for a while.

Posted by: RagunCajun

It's nice to see someone worrying about handling/suspension rather than raw power. Let us know how she turns out when you get your goodies back.

Posted by: bayou boy

that also makes you faster more than motor mods cuz u can control it better as the quad will handle the terrain better. the 450 has a decent suspension....except the bucking on the rear the gt link is supposed to cancel that....another added benefit of the suspension work is it helps the wheelie factor which means i can launch harder i also want to ditch the ac nerfs...i hate them. they came on the quad so i gave them a chance....total crap the x factors i use on the 400 are way better. i find the aluminum pegs are crap compared to the stainless and the nerfs work themselves loose to the point where you can move them about a 1/2" up and down....yes all the bolts are tight. i just dont see them holding up banging bars and bouncing off trees. i may go with the rath or ims set up they seems to be built alot better.

Posted by: HB-Roost

Very nice...awesome that it is faster than Jeremiahs on the top. I wonder why?...is it the green wire mod doing the trick or just the exhaust or what?

Sorry I couldn't make it. Plans were a bit delayed, and I am not going pick one up until next weekend. I am getting it new, though, and that is why...all of the bikes I go look at end up disappointing me, so I figure I better do it right the first time. Honda has a $500 bonus buck deal going on right now, so I will be able to pick it up and get the HRC kit and whatnot for free with it....so that ain't too bad since that is what I am looking for.

Tell me how you like that suspention work and whatnot after, also. I will be following in pretty much the same path. I am gonna order some extremes probably after this weekend, so afterwards I will be ready to rip whenever you get your shocks back.

Even with a stock 450r, it's tons better in terms of handling than my banshee haha. I did some suspension work but im sure yall stock bikes handle much better.

People here(local) only care about who's faster in a strait line. But then again the locals dont ride their bikes much. I about the only one heh.

Posted by: bayou boy

the 450 handles alot better than the 400 but there is still room for improvement i played with the settings a little but a revalve to my weight should help it more. i like the straight line thing but i also love zipping through the trails. i have the green wire mod where he has the fancy dynatec....i have a rossier where he has the sparks. i dunno from what i see the ignition is a waste of $$$$. i think the jetting may be the biggest difference....i know he is fatter on his main....i didnt give that one up the dunes were packed people were even parked on the road. i never saw that many people there before. it was a good trip except for tommy.....smoked his clutch the first night.

Posted by: HB-Roost

Damn...wish I could have made it even more haha. Sucks for Tommy. That guy has some BAD luck, eh?

Posted by: bayou boy

yes he does to make it worse before the clutch went the wife was running side by side with him on his 12:5:1 416....her 110lb wet vs his 210lb lol...he was a lil quiet. she is adapting good i worked with her on her launch i need to work with her on the whoops though....that is where she chickens out

Posted by: HB-Roost

Ouch! Good for her, kind of funny about him, though. If somebody light like her could really master one of these bikes they would be deadly for sure!

Posted by: bayou boy

she will be deadly just need a lil time with her on it.....that was with the turbo paddles also. i had the extremes....but i need more paddle on the 450 so she will get the extremes. with a lil work and good paddles we will be getting alot of laughs in the future. i need to loosen the suspension on it though it is a lil stiff for her. we have been doing alot of woods riding the past few weeks so she is getting a good feel for it. btw they have a money race at sand hill oct 7th timers and all you run in a class according to your time. should be a good turnout. rajun you need to make one of those trips it is always a good ride and you see some funny stuff

Posted by: HB-Roost

Cool, I can't wait. Haven't been there in a really long time! Always a good trip out there (with the exception of 05 450rs....those things die everytime out there). I'd like to try out one of the cabins one weekend....I don't really see much of a point though since Sat are DEAD.

Posted by: bayou boy

i convinced the wife we need a RZR. they had one zipping around at the dunes. it was actually pretty quick. i been wanting either that or a rhino when she saw the rzr in action she was sold. hopefully in january it will happen.

Posted by: HB-Roost

That is the Polaris, right? Those things look like they would be a blast to drive....it got through everything OK?

Posted by: RagunCajun

anybody heading to the spillway this coming weekend(15th & 16th)? I want to go but only if i know someone i can ride with. I usualy go with some locals but i dont think they are gonna be able to make it.

Posted by: bayou boy

i wont be going my quad is shockless right now. i used to go by myself alot when nobody wanted to go. you meet all kinds of new peeps to ride with. has anybody been out there lately? last time i went it was rough and the woods were closed. i think they are fixing the bridge though. hopefully area 2 will be open soon that is the best part of the spillway.....yes the rzr was going through everything out there no problem. he was dragging up the hill with some stock 400's he didnt lose by much either....hmmm a pipe, programmer and clutch spring kit and it could be a heartbreaker maybe. it would be a good ride to play around in. i could sell the recon i would have no use for it.

Posted by: HB-Roost

Nice....
How long you think it will be before you get your shocks back? I will probably have all of my stuff good and ready about the same time. That=ride.

Got a white 07 450r sitting in the garage now, so I will probably be out there next weekend breaking her in. I will LYK for sure by the weekend.

Posted by: HB-Roost

Oh, and BTW, I went out to the spillway earlier on, and the trails are still closed. Have any idea when it will be opened back up?

Posted by: bayou boy

gt thunder said about 7 days. maybe weekend after next i will be ready. supposedly the frame is built for the broken bridge but the deck is not done

Posted by: HB-Roost

Nice, that is sooner than expected. If all goes well, I will be sending mine to the same people down the road.

Hope the Spillway gets fully back up and running pretty soon....I'd like to not have to go through the same places over and over again.

Posted by: bayou boy

how did the 10 paddles do on the 06'? i cant find and 21x12x8 9 paddles....i can find 10s though. i just dont want to overpaddle it.

Posted by: HB-Roost

IMO it was a little overpaddled. It worked decent in some sands and not others. LA Dunes seems to be a little more forgiving on the 450s than with others (MS Dunes). It did OK with 1st gear launches, but 2nd was a no go. At Sand hill and Sicily Island it was very hairy because 1st gear launches were basically a must (otherwise it would bog) and you have to make quick moves to keep the front end down and stay shifting. I was actually faster with the 8s. You are a little heavier than I am, so you might be able to handle more paddles, but I am just giving it from my own point of view.

I rode Jeremiah's bike (or the replica...can't remember) and it seemed to like the 9s. I think that it is a little bit of a better choice than the 10s....I know they are hard to find, though.

I am having the same problem finding 9s also (the only place I know of that has them in stock is on ebay...and they are big bucks.....did you try Jim's Sand Toys or Scotts ATV), and I think I will just go with some 22x11x8 regular 8 paddles or the extremes. I think my weight makes up for it, but you would probably need more paddles. You might want to just stick around for some 9s, though...jmo.

Posted by: HB-Roost

Actually, Rockymountain has 21x12x8 10 paddle regulars in stock...which would probably be more like a 9 paddle extreme tire. Just an option....

Posted by: bayou boy

i saw the 10's in rockymountain...i emailed jims but no reply yet. scotts is big $$$ last time i called them for paddles. sandtoyz in cali has the 9 ultra light but they are a lil steep too. i dunno decisions decisions. if you or ragun hit the spillway i may go.....i forgot i still got a 400 i can ride. funny how fast you forget launching with the 8 extremes on wet sand it pulled hard....perfect balance in a hard launch and not much of a wheelie factor.....launching on dry sand with the 8's it spins way too much. the same quads i was beating on the night before on the wet sand were pulling me out the hole. once i got going i usually ran them down but didnt catch them till the end. (the next day the sun had the sand dry by the afternoon). it rained again sat evening and that night i was back pulling them. i think the 9 is the ticket....jerimiah can pull me out the hole also but i can run him down. we switched quads and with me on his i pulled him also with him running me down.

Posted by: HB-Roost

Yeah, that is about what I figured on the paddles. Hard making decisions, isn't it? haha. Rocky Mountain seems dirt cheap compared to most other places, but they never seem to have the **** lol.

Yeah, I hear you on the 400, too. After you get used to the 450 you forget you even have an EX haha. I will probably be out all weekend if I can...I am dying to get this thing broken in so I can get a cam in it.

Posted by: bayou boy

ride it like u stole it....always works for me. lmk i will take the ride either day if it doesnt rain. rajun???

Posted by: RagunCajun

I plan on going to the spillway saturday(the 15th). I'ma bring my 4 wheeler. I wish i had a trailor so i could bring my dirtbike too. ah well.

I believe area 2 was set to open sept 1st. But i dont know. I just like riding. I'm not too good. It's just fun

Posted by: bayou boy

i hope area 2 is open i love tree dodging

Posted by: RagunCajun

This will he my 3rd time going. I've never seen/been in area 2 yet.

I will bring my new tires as well as my regular ones. I want to see what i can do in some drag races. hopefuly the drag race places arent full of sand again.

Posted by: bayou boy

last time i went it was too rough to drag anywhere

Posted by: HB-Roost

When I went last sunday they were racing on the other side of the tracks around were we were racing on that large stretch at. I bet if you cleared the big dirt clots they could race down at the old stretch also. It was a total mud fest last weekend, though..I couldn't even get through much of it. I hope it isn't the same (should not be).

Haha, I wish I was down with ride it like you stole it. Would make break in more enjoyable, I have just been riding it like I would normally (besides racing)....much like we did in the past with the 06.

Posted by: bayou boy

if its muddy maybe i will just ride the utility

Posted by: bayou boy

got the # for scotts atv? i cant find it amongst the debris on my desk

Posted by: HB-Roost

Any luck on tires? I emailed a couple Skat Trak sellers seeing if they had any 9s + their price, but will not hear back until tomorrow at the earliest. If I cannot find anything pretty soon, I will be going with the 10 paddle regulars, seeing how Rocky Mountains inventory is rapidly disappearing.

Posted by: RagunCajun

i hope it's not muddy. I have open pod filters with no airbox so if it's nasty, i cant ride.

I thought area 2 is closed on saturdays due to big trucks working the area.

Posted by: HB-Roost

Yeah, that sucks. If it is muddy, I simply choose not to ride...takes too long to get it clean again.

I have no clue about area 2...that is the trails? I know that the open area is always open, but the trails never seem to be when I want to ride there. lol

Posted by: bayou boy

i'm taking the utility...one of the guys at work just bought one and wants to make a ride. the 400 is buried behind the shockless R and i dont feel like digging it out. i am cool with the ute i can hang out and bs with yall....if yall wanna race i will run yall on the tracks

Posted by: RagunCajun

haha it's cool man. I just ride for fun. I not too good of a rider.

But yeah man. Ill be there. I drive a red ranger and ima be either on my banshee(white and black) or my yz250(a lot of ugly stickers).

if you want, i can call ya when i arrive.

Posted by: bayou boy

what time are u going? i think i may be there around 10:30ish. i have a green silverado with a black tandem axle open trailer....it has some little boxes mounted on the back with stickers all over them. there will be a blue blaster on the trailer with a 4 sale sign. no rain here today may be a good day. btw next weekend at the spillway they are having a workday cutting the bloodwood off the trails in area 2 to get it open... i am debating digging the 400 out for tomorrow guess it depends how i feel in the morning...call if you like no problem

Posted by: RagunCajun

a bud im going meet up with on the way plans to get up at 8:30 so i guess if that's the case ill be getting there 10-10:30. But i cant promise that. Either way, cya there man. since he's coming, ima bring the shee so me and him can ride together better. We are probably going to have the only banshees around. People love them quick as hell new 4 strokes.

You ever get your shocks in?

Posted by: bayou boy

i'm thinking tomorrow they shipped tuesday...then mount them set it up and hopefully awesome ride. hope the storm goes east i want to get some time on them this weekend

Posted by: HB-Roost

I'm thinking the same...got the rest of what I needed from C&D today so I will hopefully have everything in for the weekend. If the weather is OK I will be out for a final break in ride and a little test and tune.

It will be nice to see how the shocks came out if you are out this weekend also...

Posted by: bayou boy

if the weather cooperates i will take the r out sunday. sat i am going work in area 2 with the trailblazers trying to get it open. sunday i may go ride on my trails so i can try it in the trees....not sure yet though i may go back to the spillway sunday it should be dry if the storm passes maybe get a lil dragging in. i been wanting to see how it does with the zippers

Posted by: HB-Roost

450r + Zippers = good.

Posted by: bayou boy

if its dry maybe a good turnout....i would go early to get some good riding in before the crowd then switch over to the zippers and play in the afternoon

Posted by: bayou boy

i been busy tonite

Posted by: bayou boy

i had to cut the skid plate....it will do till i order a prm. looking like no rain for sunday. rmatv has the 21x12x8 9 paddles in stock. got mine coming

Posted by: bayou boy

Posted by: HB-Roost

Ordered my 9 paddles today also...should be shipped Monday.

Very nice on the shocks....it definately makes it look more trick and I bet the ride will be killer. Can't wait to see it out.

I will probably have the 450 ready for Sunday, since I will probably be spending all of tomorrow working on it because of some stubborn screws...

Posted by: HB-Roost

Know anybody with a shim kit? Left side exhaust and right side intake are just off...

Posted by: bayou boy

i have one

Posted by: HB-Roost

Hey, if I give you the shims that are in it and some cash or just replace them (or w/e you want), can I borrow it to get it shimmed?

Posted by: bayou boy

i will be at the spillway about 10am. come get what u need u can replace it later. i will bring the kit.

Posted by: HB-Roost

How long are you gonna be out there? If it is OK with you, I would rather just take the kit and bring it to you later on today (Spillway or home), because I am not sure on what one of the clearances are on the intake....it shouldn't take me very long to do it I don't believe.

Posted by: HB-Roost

It took me a little longer than expected....I had went back but you guys had left already. Do you need them anytime this week? If you do, LMK....if not I will just bring them to you next weekend.

Posted by: bayou boy

we left around 2. glad it was dry. did you get it done? just get it to me when u can. did you get to run it? i am liking the shocks the rear seems to not buck nearly as much...i hammered it through a few long sections of whoops and it seemed do do well and the fronts soak up alot more too. so far i am happy

Posted by: HB-Roost

Nice on the shocks! I was definately liking them...they looked like they dropped the bike a good bit also, I can only imagine how well they ride! Wish I wouldn't have been still trying to get the bike done, it would have been nice to hang out with you guys.

I must have just missed you...I came to drop them off right around 2 lol.

I kinda got it done...little disappointed. I got it shimmed up good. I got it together, but it didn't start...tried to, but didn't. I went back in and checked the clearances again and also the timing (I know it was tricky on the 06 for some reason) and I didn't see a problem. It rotates pretty freely....I am thinking it might be some issues with the carb as I didn't get the manual and had to "internet guess" the specs. I will spend some time with it either tomorrow or Tuesday to get it done.

Posted by: bayou boy

i have a manual....what specs u need

Posted by: HB-Roost

I needed the HRC manual to know what to do with the jetting.

Posted by: RagunCajun

Damn it was dry at the spillway today! I was thinking about going too but i thought it would still be nasty like last weekend.

And it was good meeting you last time bayou boy. I might head there next weekend again if it's dry. I wish there was some way of knowing if it's dry or not w/o driving there.

Is area 2 open?
