I desperately need some more protection for my mud and rough trails around home......
I am at a loss of which ones to get......i need ones with holes to change oil and crap.....
Thanks for the help

AC has a good skid plate. I got an Armidllo swing arm skid plate. It is twice as thick as the others but about the same price.

WHITE BROS ALL THE WAY. they're durable, and light, and seem to always stay shiny. for a good price too

ac has 2 drain holes one under the oil sump and one under the drain but for easier oil change job and you can get them in a standerd thickness or we offer a heavy duty version

I thing Pro Armor is the best way, my friend have the Pro Armor skid plate and he have a very sweet looking with the skid plate

either get the ac heavy duty or prm....both should do the job

On my AC that I got last Febuary or around then it only had one hole. I would like it so much more if it had two. I ended up just drilling another in it.
How thick is the HD version?
You guys should put small holes in both sides. That spot by the foot pegs always gets filled with dirt and it would be good to have a drain for it.

I kinda wanted some A-arm plates too, why doesn't AC make those too??
What is the thickest one??
Where can i pick up a set of the heavy AC duty version skids from?
Posted by: buckNbanshee
man just steal some road signs and bolt them under your qaud
:devil

barrowing street signs. i remember doing that when i was a teenager. cuz i need a skid for my datsun prerunner!lolol! the stander version is.125 the h/d we offer is .160. we have in the past made a couple .250 thick ones for some pro guys who ordered them that way. we have been toying with the idea of a-arm gaurds. made a couple sets. they will most likely be in our 2003 line up.

How much more are the AC HD ones??
I don't even see those on the website........so who do i talk to about getting them?

I would get PRM. They make A-Arm Skids, Full Chassis Skids, and a Swingarm Skid. They are all very Heavy Duty and Strong.

my dad made mine for free other than the rear skid plate. I like my rear ac racing skid tho.

I made my own for both my 300 EX and 400 EX. For 32.00$ I got enough aluminum (5/16 thick sheet) to make skid plate, a=arm gaurds, and cover for oil cooler lines next to frame.

When at a race, I found an AC frame skid on sale, new of course, took it home and put it on. I was very displeased with the fit (the edges stuck out too far and would carry mud), so I slid it back another 3/4" to fit the way I thought it should. Much better, but now my holes were off. I had to re-engineer it!
I should have waited and got the PRM. I have their A-arm and swing arm skids on my 400 and their frame skid on the LT80. They are the best.

personally i wouldnt worry about the oil drain holes I take mine of every time I change the oil just bacause Alot of crap builds up between the frame and skid that should be claned out so i just take it off when i change oil. It only takes a couple of minutes and makes the change easier.

PRM all the way

got with PRM... I got all they're skids and they work and fit great

Posted by: EX Stud
I'm deff going with the PRM!!
But is it worth it to get the .190 thicker version??
Or should the regular one be just fine?
WHich did you guys opt for?
Posted by: Butters
just make some. then they don't cost as much and you can make them however you want. i have some steel ones that work real good.
Posted by: JabberJaw
I hear the Armadildo ones are good.

I was very happy with my armadillo plate for a while, but eventually it started to bend where the bolts on the rear were. A buddy of mine is gonna make me a 1/8 steel one
it's gonna be a heavy mofo but i guarantee it won't bend :devil

Yes go for the .190 version.

Whatever you do don't get an AC swingarm skid,,I destroyed mine last weekend and have had to have it straightened on a press numerous times..I now have a PRM and the quality is night and day..

How are WB? And where would i go to get PRM?
Posted by: Dave400ex
I think the Quadshop sells PRM or just get them from PRM.
Posted by: EX Stud
I was looking at was checking some prices and noticed that Pro-Armor has 1/4 inch thick plates. Wouldn't these be better than the PRM??
OR is there something Pro Armor doesn't have like PRM?? Like relieablity, or good customer support .
ANything?!?!?

fing out how the alumnium is heat treated i have a PRM swing arm skidplate and im very happy with it the guy at the shop i got it from has had his prm skid plate on 2 or 3 different 400Ex's and it still good he said that DG's belly skid was good but everything else they make is junk and there is a nother company (cant remember the name) but thier stuff is made from SS also thinner but he said that it would be the only thing that could be better than PRM
