anyone had any problems with clutch cables melting and not working where they hook by the headers, i had 2 go out in 3 weeks

common problem, mainly with an aftermarket header. a good solution for this is to use one off a 250x/300ex. it has the same ends but is longer so you can run it along the frame rails away from the exhaust.

I had the same problem and I got some heater hose from a car and wraped safety wire around it. Worked for me but you still have to keep an eye on it.

i have seen some people wrap theirs and others reroute the cable. however, i have always been able to just bend the small black cable guide that the cable goes through by the header in order to get the cable out of the way.

what about wrapping the pipes like the chopper guys do. would that help on heat or is it just looks

some fiberglass heat wrap would help, if youhave and aftermarked header then it might save your leg from burns as well.
