hey guys ..... has anyone ever used or replaced their front brake master cylinders with either a 450r or 400ex unit ? and how did it perform ? reason being is that i need one and it is getting harder to find good, clean units anymore.

i would use the 450R over the 400ex unit. the 450R is designed to push dual piston calipers were the 400ex only for single piston. theres no reason it wouldnt bolt right up. everythings basically the same.

i'm actually glad you asked this. i've been meaning to ask it myself, the bolts on my reservoir cover are stripped so i need a new one.

I have 400ex ones on my bikes, they work good on 250r calipers and they are real touchey on my trikes. 450r ones are just way too touchey for me to use, a light pull on the lever and you are going over the bars.

one time whenever i was at cernic's they had a travis pastrana replica bike and he had this http://www.magurausa.com/motorcycle...radialpump.html for the front brake...it was cool and easy as can be to pull it in. it could be something to consider

A 400ex master cylinder is direct bolt in, improves braking feel also. Make sure to check the rest of the system to assure the best performance.

Has anyone compared a rebuilt 250r master cylinder to a 400ex/450r unit? I'm wondering if the reason 400ex/450r units improve braking performance so much is they aren't 20 years old and worn out like the 250r's? I thought my front brakes were pretty good until I hopped on a brand new 400ex and about went over the bars the first time I squeezed the brake.
