I am thinkin about racing a blaster, but I don't have beadlocks on it (or the money to buy em) do I need em?

if you don't have money to buy beadlocks, then you probably don't have money to race. racing is hard on machines and parts. get tangled up with some one and you can have a bent axle, wheel, bars or other broken parts. now after that you get it fixed and it may happen again the next time out. chances are low, but it happens. thaen add on top of that, your fees for membership in the organization, and the cost to enter the races

now to actually answer your question, no they aren't necessary, but are highly suggested

Maybe I should refrase that, I'm building a blaster that I might race.... I'll get more money as I go.

What are you going to race MX or XC ?

You don't have to have beadlockers for any racing

kill switch,nerfs,a-arms,shocks etc.rims are just to look nice and save weight.kill switch and nerfs you need just to enter.

they will save you money in the long run, the dont bend as easy as regular wheels and the are easier to change tires on. another plus is you wont have to worry about rolling a bead off the rim in the middle of a race. you dont need them though, you can pick up a set pretty cheap if you look, i just got a set with tires for 75 bucks

unless you are a pro level racer, you are not going to benifit fully from a set of beadlocks, except for Hipers. Everyone can use a set of them...lol
