I remember reading somewheres that it can be done .. you just need a wider axle nut or something .. could someone please confirm this.

i have heard it works with spaces or somthing, i wouldnt mind trying it, i have a stock 400 axle laying around the garage that i wouldnt mind swaping into mine.

You would need something to space the locknut up against the C-clip. You can also just get an aftermarket lock nut and go that route. I have Heard of people doing it, but I haven't seen it yet.

i just put a lonestar plus 4 for a 400ex in my sons 300ex. here is what you have to do. i have heard you just have to put spacers between the lock nut and the brake hub but that is not true if you slide the brake hub on the 400 axle with it not on the quad you will see there is an extra half inch between the sprocket hub and the brake hub. you have to make up the space there. i took an old axle bearing and cut off the outer ring and tossed the bearings. this leaves you the inner ring that will slide over the axle and fit tight. put this on before the sprocket hub and then slide the sprocket hub on the axle. this piece is the perfect width to take up the extra space and now your axle nut will tighten down. now the brake caliper will not fit properly because the brake rotor has been spaced anout 3/8 of an inch to the right. just make spacers and use longer bolts to bolt it up. mine worked out perfectly.
