I knew yours looked weird for some reason, the shock not there is the reason they looked off. You are right yours does match the one you posted. Thats why I mentioned to check your manufacturer. Mine a-arms look like SCRO's does in his pics. Notice how his shock mount is below the arm, not above like yours.
Posted by: b2sandshee
ya his are the max ground clearance ones, they are for xc racing. mine are mx, you dont need as much ground clearance for mx, the lower the better. haha but thanks for the comments.

My 450R is in Yuma, Az with the Banshee. They are my dune quads. I will not have any pictures of the 450R till I get back from Glamis mid November. The other 3 are here in N.J.
Posted by: b2sandshee
damn, u live in n.j. and go to glamis. geezzz. do u fly and how often do u go. **** im 3 hours from little sahara, oklahoma and get ther like 3 times a year. you have some of the nicest dune quad that i have seen. you race mx alos? xc?
Posted by: doc-bones
Thanks a lot. I do not race at all, however take my riding very seriously. I get out to the west coast about 21 days a year. I have been to Coral Pink and Sand Hollow in Utah a few times. I have been to Armagosa Sand dunes in Nevada a few times and Dumont and Glamis in Ca. a few times. I now store 2 machines in Yuma so I can get to Glamis more often. I fly into Phoenix and rent a Fun mover then travel to the dunes!

Now that's dedication. Although, once you get the dunes in your blood, it's hard to get out.
Love to see the done-up R's. Very nice!

There is nothing like a Sweet R that is ridden by a Chick. Your quad is extremely clean and the perfect set-up for a 250R Chick. Nice going. The Legendary R will never die!! Still the best quad ever!
Posted by: 250rchick
Thanks, Doc! She is an awesome bike. I will post more specs once I get them all written down-don't want to leave anything out.
I used to be 400exgrl, but changed the name when I sold the 400 for this amazing machine!
So I just look like a newbie for now.
Posted by: 250r4life
yah that is a sweet looking R for a woman... how are you liking it compared to your 400? its a little harder to ride huh?
where about in AZ do you live? which dunes are those?
Posted by: doc-bones
No way..... The 250R is superior to the 400EX in every way including ride. If you are gonna be around, (Glamis) we will be on Roadrunner at the end of Gecko from 11/3-11/13 always nice to have nice R`s to dune with!

every was except for torque, and ease of pressing the throttle... the 400ex requires much less effort to ride... i would never take it over my R, but it is much easier...
i am going down to gordons well tongight, and will be there until sunday... im not too big on glamis- especially during busy times...

Way better than the 400! The 400 seemed really stiff and slow (not slow, but hate getting beat up the hill by the 450r). I didn't have anything done to the 400 suspension wise, so it sucked hitting the whoops at the bottom of the hill.
Now the R is a soft ride and something about that 2 stroke power gives me the shakes!!
I love that thing! It seems like it is alot easier to ride being a small person. Of course we changed everything on it from suspension to handle bars. Unfortunately I didn't get to ride it as much as I wanted to last weekend because the rod bearing went out the first day!
The motor is at the shop now and will be done before Turkey weekend at Gordons!!

We are located in the far west valley and that pictures was taken from Glamis last weekend. Not Glamis people, but wanted to see it on a big weekend. We are Gordon's Well fans!!

right on... we are gordons well people also... glamis is cool, but i never go there on bigger weekends... people dont go to glamis to ride, and i go to the dunes to ride...
i went down to gordons well thursday night, and got some good riding and racing in before saturday when i grenaded something in my tranny... i dont know if a gear exploded or a shift shaft or what, i wont know till i tear her down, but i was cut short of my weekend too... had to spend the rest of the weekend upon a raptor 700, but hey that sure beats sitting at camp...
i hate to say im going to convert to the darkside... im getting a yfz before Thanksgiving... i dont have time to mess with the R right now, but i'll get her back up and running by ther latest this summer...

j/k but why the yfz? Isn't that beyond the darkside for a Honda rider?? My husband has a 450r and loves it.

ha ha ha... too funny...
i like the yfz better than the 450r... i think the yfz is faster, it has better suspension, and has more of a two stroke type top end then the 450r...
it'd be cool if i wanted the 450r, as i already have all the wheels and paddles for it... but i plan on fixing and keeping the 250r anyhow...

Nice bike. Looks like it rips!
It is amazing how much the tires used for racing in the sand varies from place to place.

thats the problem with bulding up your bike so much- there arent a whole lot of people you can race... last weekend was pretty dead, and you were at buttercup too... you shoulda been there the weekend before, there were a couple banshees that really ripped...
what all did you do to the engine R3?

im assuming that was a question "250 ready to ride?"
it was... ive been to the dunes 3 times this season... went down this last weekend on thursday night... i smoked a lot of people friday night, and then satruday morning was smoking some more when i went to launch and something broke in my tranny... not sure if 2nd gear grenaded or just my shifting fork or what...
consequently im going to get a yfz tomorrow... i'll fix the 250r later when i have the time

Its still on gas. U4. Its up 11 HP from you raced it as an MX bike, and down about 100 pounds.

Thats probably why.I think he was saying the sand you ride on looks different from Imperial Sand Dunes(Glamis)
Posted by: esr250r86
The difference is just the wetness and maybe they are different colors when dry.
Posted by: 250r4life
there are lots of different types of sand.... and its more than just the moisture...
Posted by: ninja
Sand can be different. My example Pismo(oceano) beach sand corser and heavier compared to glamis finer and lighter. At pismo I would say more traction but not as soft. Glamis less traction, softer and way more of it!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: esr250r86
I agree with ninja.
Posted by: IMSROLL450R
sahara is definitely a fine sand.......its usually very loose unless it rains like you saw in the pic. even then its pretty loose.
Posted by: loboboy
I know from Experience that Glamis is a much finer grade of sand than what we have in Waynoka. They both are about the same color but Glamis sand is less course.

The swingarm so it doesnt wheelie as bad, and the shocks, cause they look WAY better then the stockers.
But, as of next weekend it will be a drag bike, and my Honda will be for sale.

Supercup ,
where do you work and are they hiring?
you got some very nice toys. I saw the pics from Jan 4th, I envy that there was not any making tracks in the sand but you, thats my personal favorite time to dune. I am usually first out if it rains or is windy the night before

lmao.....no ****, dude!!! Bro has some hella toys!!!

Dream garage is not mine (some day) or the truck or motos in that photo. That was a shop of a friend which another friend of ours did up for Behr Paints (the Home Depot Brand) to shoot some photos of their product for marketing material (mainly the epoxy garage sealer). They did up the shop for free for the guy, I just lent the car (grey GT2) and quads for the photos. They gave me some cool photos of my car and quads and did my garage floor as a thank you!
As far as the toys go the quads are in house, the Grey GT2 was sold and replaced by the Orange RS. The Cup is strictly for racing fun.
As far as where do I work, I don't, I think for a living it pays better! And are they hiring, nope that would cut into the toy budget, but we are always willing to share with our friends and lend a hand to those in need.

Heres the 400ex i have been working on th efor the wife. If I ever do motor work, the frame will be powdercoated black to match

Posted by: cjkranz
A black frame would look great on that.... Time to do the motor!!
Posted by: cbrooks118
I agree it would look great, but I cannot decide if I will own this bike long enough to justify the investment. The motor runs great, still smooth and strong . My wife is relatively new to the sport, and this is an upgrade from her 300ex. I speculate that she will be ready for a 450 or 700 raptor (its a toss up) in a year or so, so we will be doing the buy/sell thing to upgrade. Seems like I have been buying/selling alot lately.

It's real low budget, but fun. When I bought it it had homemade F/R racks, wished I'd took a pic.
