I have a 400ex, will +2 1/4 a-arms be too long or should it be okay with 4-1 rims

I've got +1 a-arms on order right now.

I had +1 a-arms on my 250R, and they gave me all the extra stability I needed.

I would NOT go wider up front than your rear end, and I wouldn't go more than 48".

XC front ends are a trade off between stability and width.

You can make up for stability with extra body english, but you cannot be less wide than teh a-arms you buy.

That's why I went with +1's, that gave me more stability, but still be a little narrower than my rear end.

Remember - tag a front wheel, and you stop dead. Tag a rear wheel, and you tend to bounce off.

Unless you regualrly ride MX, I'd go with +1's.

Going with the 4/1 wheels, you could go to long travel, but be ready to spend over $2 large.

I would go +1 staderd travle, unless you are going to run some gncc's, then I would get +1 long travle.
