ok i just bought an 04 yfz 450 and i have some questions about the oil because i dont have a manual. i noticed that there are two places to put oil. one of them doesnt have a dipstick. how do you know when its getting low and how much oil do you put in. and do you use the same kind of oil in both spots? thanks

the black oil container(one has dipstick) pumps oil into the motor incase oil gets low in the motor. just check the dipstick it says on dipstick full on top empty on bottom wen its empty put some in it till its on the full line and yes u can use the same in both of them.when you change the oil the black container holds 1 quart of oil and the one that has no dipstick holds 0.5(half quart)and your oil filter is on the left of the water pump.Use YAMALUBE=20w-40

All the oil circulates through the engine and through the oil tank. As long as there is oil in your oil tank there is oil in your engine. I highly suggest all of you picking up a manual.

use 10/40 1 qt in the black resv & .95 qt in the case, period.

I think the manual says .35 qts in the engine, and 1.5 in the resv. making a total of 1.85 qts. Make sure you run the bike after the oil change, and then recheck the level.
