it's just what i got from the kfx450hq site. it could be wrong?

i would think its wrong for 2 reasons.
1. kaw hasnt released that info yet, so the kfx site is just geussing anyway.
2. gncc quads are usually around 46 inches, so if kaw is building a gncc race ready quad, why would they make it 48 inches? makes about as much sense as the mx ready gas gas that is 52 inches

no... its right... i got a buddy that got all the specs and info on it before we even knew about it or saw spy pics or anything about it and i asked him about the width and he said 48"

The latest article I read said that the front width matched the YFZ 450, it did not mention the rear width.

I personnaly saw the new kfx450 in an atv show here in Montreal, Canada and I measured the width and it is 45 inch wide (front and rear). The front shocks lenght is 16 inch. I didn't measure the lenght.

i might be tempted to listen to mr hunter haswell's (one bad 400)word as being as close to gospel as one might get. after following the edt series for several years, in person and on this site, i'd agree that his above mentioned "buddy" might have hit the Jack-pot with this inside info.

think your measuring might have been a bit off? because i doubt they're going to make a brand new machine that's trying to be competitive with the rest of the 450's yet making it an inch skinnier than the already skinniest in width 450.

I can garantee you that my measurments are good. I race cross country here in canada and one of my wondering about the kfx450 was the width. So when I went to the show I brought my measuring tape and measured the width several times to make sure I was wright. I also wanted to check if my front elka shocks would fit on the kfx450 (I have a kfx400). They will not fit because the lenght on the 450 is 16 inch and on the kfx400 it's 16 3/4''. If the two prototypes that I saw are the ones they are going to release in early 2007 the width will be 45 inch.

In the December ATV Action, it states that the Front tracking width is the same as the YFZ 450..it does not mention the rear, but my guess would be a minimum of 46", probably closer to 471/2", definately not 45"..... that is measuring the outer most part of the tires, not from tread to tread. The front is a little trickier to measure since the a-arms will change the front width because of the geometry, but if you sit on it then get off of it and measure you should get close..the Hondas are around 43 - 44"..the Yamahas are closer to 44-45"...the 400's are 42-43"..these are front widths only, outermost part of tire (sidewall) to outermost part.. if you measure center to center on the 450's you will come up with 37-38"..roughly..that is excluding the LTR450

Bajapred, the new Honda 450r's are 46.4 inches wide not 43-44 inches.

Again, depends on how far you compress the front suspension...& how much preload you use..but they are not considered to be 46.5"..but you might be able to get that measurement if you adjust the preload to 0, and run the softest spring setting....also, if you are looking at the specifications then you are looking at the rear width , not the front width....the specs show teh widest point on the quads, which is the rear in most cases...and you can change that very easily with just tires!. Lots of the quads lately are using a 20x10x9 tire...put a 20x11x9 on there and you will notice another inch in width..that is partly how the Predator gets its 47.5" width, it uses a wider tire.
