Anti-Throttle bog products which actually works?

Ok I've seen three products for YFZ throttle low-end bog:

Boyesen Quick Shot 79.95
Scary Fast Power Now 99.95
FCR Pump Cover 59.99

What actually works? I've heard good and bad on the Quick Shot.

EDIT: try a smaller leak jet if you are having troubles, there is a good article over at ***central.com

GOOD LUCK!

No need for any of those things. Your accelerator pump is adjustable. A smaller leak jet would be the place to start.

Posted by: infantry317

a buddy mentioned that, but I don't anyone that's tried it.

Posted by: speedyquad

i have tried it on my honda 450r with fcr...it worked wonders for the bog...and it was a hell of a lot cheapert han any you mentioned

Posted by: infantry317

You were correct GP! It was $10 and really helps you when chugging around where it would have killed before and accelerates quicker.

Posted by: quadgeek631

what size leak jet did you put in it?

Posted by: oldskoolex400

yea, i need to know too man

thanks

I was told that worked on my WR too but the guy who told me about it said that I didn't need to completely close off the hole. Just a smaller jet.

Posted by: infantry317

its not closed off, just a smaller leak jet that Yamaha offers for that carb

Posted by: 250xcheetah

do you get the jet straight from yamaha?

Posted by: infantry317

Yeah, its got a yammi part #

From GPracer2500:

Yamaha part numbers for leak jets: 4JT-1494F-XX-00. Replace the XX in that number to get these various sizes (e.g. a 50 leak jet is 4JT-1494F-07-00):

#130 XX = 33
#120 XX = 31
#110 XX = 29
#100 XX = 27
#90 XX = 23
#80 XX = 19
#70 XX = 15
#65 XX = 13
#60 XX = 11
#55 XX = 09
#50 XX = 07
#40 XX = 03
#35 XX = 01

If you go to Yamaha of Troy or somewhere and plug in numbers you might find more in-between sizes. I didn't list some of them because a few have strange descriptions but I bet they are all leaks. Sometimes those descriptions are in error or inconsistant.

Honda part number for a #55 leak jet is 99108-MEB-0550, a #45 is 99108-KRN-0450, and a #40 is 99108-KRN-0400.

*** I just dropped one size from stock and it definately helped.

Posted by: oldskoolex400

what size is stock?

Posted by: speedyquad

stock on a honda is a 70...i went down to a 42 or 45...
got it from magic racing...along with some other stuff i needed to offset the cost($8) of shipping a small jet

I saw this in a dirt bike mag. 1/2 the price of a Boysen and it works just as good. They also have a stiffer spring for the fuel screw, to prevent it from backing out, and they have titanium fuel screws.

BTW.......... I am in no way affiliated with Stealth, I just thought they have really cool, inexpensive stuff.

As for the "leak jet" , I'm just to lazy to play with it. I wanted a bolt on and go product.

Whats the advantage of having an aftermarket fuel mixture screw?

Posted by: infantry317

They say you should actually set your fuel screw every time you ride I think that's overkill, but the regular screw is for a screwdriver, good luck getting at it...the aftermarket ones are tough enough but allow you to use your fingers to adjust.

Posted by: the*ovenman

Maybe this is a dumb question but what is it adjusting?

Posted by: cals400ex

the fuel screw is a fuel adjustment mainly at idle. it does play a role up to 1/4 throttle or so as well.

this whole leak jet thing could some one explain because when its could and hasent been run yet (after being idle for a wile) and i hit the gas it bogs some time just in the beging intill it gets really warmed up what should i do? anything would help

I have the Boyesen Quick Shot and Both Power Now and Power Now Plus. No more Bog and the throttle Reponce is awsome now.

the leak jet and a/c pump work together to aide quick chops of the throttle. from what i have heard, you need to adjust both to get it right as adjusting one, will cause a reaction with the other and need to be tuned to work with each other
