I have a 2005 Z400 that is totally stock. i have heard that the z can be run with no lid on in total stock form. I need to know if this is true or will I have to rejet it.

you could try it but im guessing it will run like total crap. i took my dads stock z and took the airbox lid off and put a uni filter on and then rejetted to a 170 main and it runs great. stock jet is like a 130 i think?

Although when you get the cover off you will see for yourself......You will need to rejet. Around 160. K&N makes a box cover and packages the right jets.
