What's your favorite thing about the 400EX?

Other than Honda reliability, I really like how easy it is to pop the front end up. Real light when you need to get teh front wheels off the ground.

Alot different than my 250R.

Mine only spinns now that sucks. When the front would pop up easy that was cool cause i could pull it streight up 3rd gear. Now it only spinns cause all the torq and the angle of the swing arm. If i put the rear ride hight as tall as it can go then it pulls wheelies.

I like most of the things about it. I love the 450r styling and its yellow. The best thing is that it has that grunt when u get on the throttle, I only wish it had more get up and go! But a HMF slip-on and twin Air airfilter and a rejetting should fix that right up! I love the gobs and gobs of tourq, and it doesn't always have to spin its tires, it does get annoying when a quads tires spin constatly while your riding.

How the seat and rear fenders come off so easy, makes it much easier to wash. Also since just gas and oil is all you really need to worry about, don't have to worry about a radiator or nothing.

I hate the location of spark plug, make that a lil' easier to get to and i'd like it a bit more.

the way it feels when I sit on it, how it wheelies, it likes to be modded(but my wallet doesnt) how it handles. I cant compare it to the 450's really, because I have only ridden then on pavement for about 10 mins each. But I have to say that I dont really like they way they sit(seat hight) maybe its better for the track, but I dont know.

Handling, mine is finally to the point where I really like it! My 400EX is not a wheelie machine, in fact it is hard to get it to wheelie. But the thing handles like it is on rails!!! Thanks to Laz at GT Thunder.

Also I can ride my 400EX hard all day and not get tried!

It definitely could use some more power, but on tight, twisted trails, I can hang with about anybody!

My words exactly .

With the 450 Shocks installed i have taken away a bit of the "play factor about it , but as far as cornering now goes -man , its nice .

Still FLIPS like an Ordinary Quad though(!) , as I experienced in a moment of complete stupidity the weekend , by locking the brake and breaking my wrist and Bendin the bars .

Wheelie machine yes it is , wheelies like it was born to do so , more than any other quad i've ridden .

The most versatile all-round Quad on the market .At Any price bracket. Period .

Well i dont like a stock EX. I like the way they look modded. To me i think a modded 400ex is the best looking quad ever.

Definately alot different feel to my '05 400EX than my 88 250R. Getting the wheels up is too easy on the 400EX. I had to really watch it when I first started riding the machine.

Though I do really miss the feel of the 250R engine, but the 400EX is alot better for me now with putting around with the kid on his Desert Cat 90.

I could go on forever about what I like about the older 400EX's (before they switched it to look like a 450R).

But mainly it's looks (the old looks), reliability, easy to work on, parts are cheap, handling and feel, smooth power with plenty of torque, and I absolutely love the look of modified 400EX's.

I dont own an ex but i know nearly everything there is about them, ive rode with them for years now, and they have surprised me many of times..you can put it through just about anything, if the terrain is enough to make it die you get it out and she starts right back up. I havent seen one that has any huge problems with the motor, the motor is definatly a +. Even if the 400ex is old and outdated, its still one of the most reliable quads out there. To tell ya the truth, im glad honda didnt modify the ex yet, its like a legend that had its time to shine, now its the 450r's turn. But like the 250r, i belive the ex will always be a legend

My fav part about the 400 is it's awesome handling and balance (both on the ground and in the air). Most other quads (besides the 250R) can't match the 400 in that department

I'd even give the EX an edge over the 250R in the air. Its actually prolly smoother power delivery on the jump face, but I like jumping the EX better than the 250R.

Definitely no payment is a factor, it's electric start, parts are available, ebay is a goldmine for us, if you dump enough money into them they actually do run fairly well, and they already are probably the best ATV frame ever made. They are a tough bike, there are problems like the spark plug, the battery location is kind of wierd, but I have ridden just about every sport quad out there, and comfort is 2nd to none. And if you ask me, put a hood on them and cut the fenders they look way better than a 450R. And when you suck everybody gives you a pass cuz your on a 400, but you look really good when you're fast, lol.

take care of it an it starts every time, cheat mods, handles the trails like no tomorrow, very dependable never left on trail for dead, when I want the power its there. An last butt not least its a freaken HONDA for gods sake. Peace an ride like theres no tomorrow boys an girls
