Havent heard from ya'll in a while! Has Josh and Bubba been racing much? I wish you the best on the hybrid, I know you've had some trouble, and those welds look horrible! If you need anything machined for the quad lmk, I can hook you up. I also have a bunch of 400ex parts around.

yea long time, been a while since josh raced, had the storm and had to move, got the quad together and then the crank went. got that fixed and went to practice at rock hill one night and he broke the frame clear through in 3 places. got the new frame all welded up just looking for a cheap place to get it powder coated. bubba raced this saturday at lamx, awesome track. he won both motos on his mini. bought him a 300ex i am building for him to run the sport class. i need some 400ex plus 2 a-arms for the 300, you got any. coll quad you ever gonna race it. LOL

Yep it came from Brian in Ok, the engine is strong. handles great. Brian met me at Lorretta's with it. Pretty sweet!

hey guys this is my first time to the site and i am sooo glad i found it. I have just built a 400ex with a yz400f motor. I am having some problems with jetting. I have a 41mm fcr carb I am not a pro when it comes to this aspect of the build. Ive tried to bring it to a few people but they dont want anything to do with it. kustomfab2003- I saw the "Athena" sticker on your quad and noticed your signature said somthing about a CRF 488. Is that the Athena 490 kit? If so, how do you like it? My LSR/CRF came with that kit and I haven't put it on yet.

Oh, and here's my hybrid. It's an all LSR/Axis 250R with a CRF engine. I'm in the process of buying up parts so that when I start my rebuild, I won't have to wait on parts. Already bought some LSR DC-4s, Fullbore, Quad Tech hood(Thanks Danbob), Quad Tech radiator shrouds, and still trying to round up some money to get a new bumper, nerfs, and HiPers. It still had the old front end on in these pics.

For one, there are VERY few Outlaw front ends in the nation. The bike is the same color, same OMF beadlocks, looks carbon copy of his bike. He had it in 04 era. And if you didnt add the DFR stickers, hes one the 2 top guys that are Rudys main riders.

Oh, I gotcha. I didn't add the stickers, they were on it when I got it. Like I said, the guy I got it from said he built it. But, he also said he had just had the valves adjusted and the motor only had 4 races on it and I found out that was all false information.

So you think the guy I got it from bought it from Jeff Spooner? I know he had an old article from "Dirtwheels" on his garage wall that was a bike just like it that had a blue frame and silver plastic. Everything else was the same. He said it belonged to Jack Bednar and that they were building them at the same time and whoever finished it first got to be in the article. It's the article where the quad has a "D-4 Race Pipes" exhaust on it. This quad had one on it when I got it. The guy told me Wes Miller was looking into making some exhausts and this was on of 2 prototypes that they built. Does any of that sound like the quad you're talking about?

Bingo.

Jack used to work for Lonestar, and now works for DFR. He was the first to get a true CRF chassis bike. Jeff and another AZ racer, Skyler Stewart soon followed where theres. They were all carbon copy except Jack ran PEP and Jeff and Skyler both rode for Custom Axis.

Wow. What a surprise, another lie about this bike.

I knew Jack used to work for LSR, he was the one me and all my buddies would ask to speak to whenever we had to call LSR. Seemed like he was the only one that knew what the hell he was talking about. Yes I had the Athena 488 kit on the quad. Motor had TONS of power, but didn't like to be trail ridden even with the larger water jackets and the AFCO twin pass radiator. I originally built the quad for chaser duty down in the Baja races of Mexico. However after having a trophy truck try and give me a bump I decided not to chase on a quad anymore!!!

I think that if you wire up a set of cooling fans you will be fine, but for trail or woods riding you may have heating issues. Also upgrade your valvetrain if you plan on running this kit otherwise the stock ones will do it no justice. Kibblewhite all the way.

AS long as you are moving and getting airflow you should be OK. I went duning with a bunch of my buddies and they weren't as fest or good as me so we had a train effect going and the quad didn't likethat. I had to be out front setting the pace or stay back far enough to keep the airflow going. I have a TRX450R fan that I was going to use if you are interested, PM me.

I run MX 95% of the riding I do. I took the stock fan off of my YFZ and it never ran hot even with the stock radiator. I may go ahead and put it on. If it gets too hot, I can always put it back to a 450. Thanks for the help man.

as far as i know that is the stock yz400f head pipe. it came with the motor. really, no b/s. the mid pipe is custom, i bent that up the best that i could, and then of course 400ex tail pipe.

ok might work (new at photoshop ) im putthing all white fenders on it houser swing arm a-arms and stering stem and like 856834 other parts i got this quad and never rode it yet (still in iraq) but when i go home im putting all the new parts on her......my dad say she runs good

What size sprocket are you using? The one on that quad looks really small. I've got a 42T rear and 13T front.

When I got this quad that was the set up on it and it needed the top end rebuilt.

Almost ready. Yeah I took the motor off for a new top end and ended up rebuilding the whole quad

Never said you used to have a cr250 Blaster? Bet that would haul ***!

Yeah my buddy had a banshee with a port job and a set of toomeys,we were side by side until he hit 5th gear,the gearing on the cr motor was low,i could blow it up in 5th while the banshee was a 6 spd

esr, I'm in arizona I just never updated my info. I live out here now. Just west of phoenix. That picture was taken, near the old canyon raceway (lake pleasant pkwy, and carefree area) went riding up there today. Smokin hot it was only about an hour adventure. I miss the east coast. There are too many freakin rocks here. I'm going to speedworld tomorrow or wed night for some track riding the only thing that keeps me going till I get to hit glamis in the fall. Burnt up the clutch in the gsxr so thats out for a few days now...

I go to speedworld for the quadcross races so ill probably see you there when I get back home.I am just here in michigan on vacation. I came up here to the wpsa this weekend which was fun but Ill be back for the itp quadcross at glen helen on the fifth which is rnd.7, there is going to be a quadcross race at speedworld on august 11th,you should try and make it up there. yeah there are alot of rocks up her but alot of nice weather and plenty of tracks.Later.
