2006 ATVA MX Nationals Round #14 - Ballance Moto X - Live Coverage

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Admin

Bowling Green, KY - The final day of the ATVA Motocross Nationals will held today at the Ballance Moto X just north Bowling Green, KY, and the track is picture perfect with many claiming it is the best track for ATV racing yet this year, which is no surprise with Bill Ballance involved with its layout.

The weather was overcast yesterday with temperatures only rising up to the low 70's, and it appears the weather will be almost identical today to wrap-up the mx racing season.

The Live Coverage will begin at 12PM Central Time

Can you give us any other results for the amautures?

Posted by: Johnny & Monica

Byrd and Gust will be battling hard for the win this round to take the championship for the year.

Posted by: Johnny & Monica

Natalie will be racing today and right now he is sitting 5th in points for the year just 8 points out of 4th behind Keith Little.

Jeremiah Jones is attending the race today also to cheer on his atv family! So good to hear he's feeling well enough to attend a race!

Byrd will win the tie..He has won more races than Gust

Posted by: LT80

WTG DOUG!!

Posted by: LT80

If Gust wins, they each will have 3 wins.
the tie breaker could be confusing tho.

Posted by: Johnny & Monica

I thought they said as long as Byrd finishes fifth or better overall he will win the championship.

Posted by: BlueZ440

I wonder if Jeremiah can still take 3rd overall. The only one close to him is Little...

you beat me to saying this

I agree..5th is 16 points.

Posted by: BlueZ440

was byrds motor smoking?

thats cause 5th pays out 16 points

EDIT: nevermind, LT80s fingers are much faster than mine LOL

Posted by: Johnny & Monica

Hey there Porp. Some of don't like thinking so much on Sundays so it's easier to say places than points

Posted by: LT80

If they start comparing 2nd place finishes, Byrd will take it.
If they go by the lowest score points, Gust will (Byrd 8~Gust-9)

Posted by: crazyaboutlsu

Little is 12 points behind JJ. Basically, if Keith finishes 8th overall, he will take over 3rd. 9th place = 12 points, which would put them in a tie and JJ would win that.

Posted by: alex1212

what time is the 2nd moto

Posted by: BlueZ440

Thanks

It would be cool to see JJ take 3rd

Posted by: Johnny & Monica

Pretty sure next Pro moto is at 3 central time.

Posted by: BlueZ440

tie=

1. The rider having the most 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. will be the winner.

2. If the tie still exists, the points accumulated in the events previously not counted (i.e. throw out points) will determine the winner.

3. If the tie still exists, the rider who had the better score when competing against the other tied riders will be the winner.

4. If the tie still exists, and the riders did not compete against one another, the rider who competed against the most entries in that class in that round will determine the winner.

5. If the tie still exists, and the riders competed against the same number of riders, the rider competing against the most overall entries in that round will be the winner.

6. In the event a tie still exists, the winner will be determined by ATVA staff.

i have heard your excuse, and i for one think it is valid LOL

Posted by: LT80

It amazing for JJ and Natalie to finish as far up in the points with the amount of races each missed.

Posted by: LT80

"Some of don't like thinking"

Some of??
At least we know who.

BAHAHAHAHA
Gust states "he won the OTHER series"

No politics involved . LMAO

*cough cough* It's WPSA Doug..

Posted by: mscottiel

is the feed working?

Posted by: LT80

I was going to ask that also.
They were late in starting the first moto, so we may have a while to wait for moto 2.

Posted by: LT80

While we're waiting,,,,

WTG Angela!!!!!!!!

7 GNC race wins in a row.

Thanks for the early report J&M.

Posted by: kfx008

Posted by: Johnny & Monica

Yes she sure is one awesome racer! My girls got a chance to say Hi to her and get a picture of her autographed at Taylorville. Needless to say she really made their day!

what is the time at the track now,and how long untill the next moto ?thank you. South Africa

Posted by: hondaracer31

Posted by: frankenstein

After all these years, Byrd's finally earned the top spot. Doug's just as good as Joe, but I think that anyone who puts forth as much time, effort, training, and dedication as these guys do deserve their 15 minutes of fame. I would like to see all of the guys who have a real heart and hunger for this sport get a chance to win a title, but right now, it's Joes turn, go on Proffessor, take 'em to school.

Lost the feed but the top 3 overall today should be

Gust
Lawson
Byrd

Posted by: crazyaboutlsu

so, overall should be

1) gust
2) lawson
3) byrd
4) wimmer
5) Little

If that's the case the overall for the year would be

1) Byrd
2) Gust
3) Little
4) Jones
5) Natalie (don't know where he finished, but Wimmer needed to make up 17 points. If he finished 10 or 11th, he should be here).
6) Wimmer

old news

Posted by: Prey

last time ballance took to the air during the break he ended up with a fairly significant injury

with the gncc resuming less than 1 week from sundays moto's, a 16 point lead over a blazing fast chris borich, and a barry hawk tying 7th consecutive gncc championship all in the air, it was probably just not worth the risk

Posted by: itlnstln

I wonder if it's a clause in his contract with Yamaha, ha may not be able to race any other event other than GNCC, while the season is still going. I think that is what stoped some MX pros from racing WPSA this year. Rumor has it that they could not break their contract with sponsors and their comitment to the GNC's.

Posted by: hasbeenttduner

Bill Balance did not race because he is not a idiot. He has a few races coming up that he might want to try and do well in and did not need to take a stupid chance of getting hurt.

They are up on www.atvaonline.com

This was definately a crazy year with all the injuries, politics and of course 14 races worth of fuel expenses It was not easy for anyone to come out #1. Congrats to all the class champions for a hard earned win!

GREAT pix in the gallery harlen!!! thank you!

Congrats to Joe Byrd!! If John couldn't win back to back championships, then Joe was my next choice!

I'm glad the new Zuk didn't win a championship right out of the box....Wimmer is going to be a force to reckon with next year. I have a feeling he's going to be running the Zuk and will be a contender for the title.

Posted by: Cindi

UMM! Suzuki did win the championship!

They won the WPSA. Not only did Doug win the championship. Suzuki won the Manufactures championship.

Also If the whole Birch Creek thing was taken care of Suzuki would have won the GNC championship also. There was a 13 point difference and at the end it was won by 6. But that is racing and Doug was a TRUE champion by congradulating Joe on his championship up on the podium. He always said if he couldn't win he would like Joe to win.

39 years old and still kicking *****.

You said that right!!!! Joe has been after a championship a long time, but he did not win it. It was given to him. Did Joe run any ESPN races???

Posted by: STEVENJANNA

I would probably guess that Joe didn't want to win the championship this way but I'll bet deep down in his heart he knows that the misfortunes of others led to his victory. I'm not saying that in any way is he a lesser champion for it because out of every person who posts on this forum (or any other for that matter) and has thrown a leg over an atv this year only one rider is the ATVA MX Champ. I'm not a Joe Byrd fan but I have the common sense to know that winning a championship at the top level of any sport is a worthy accomplishment. Congratulations Joe and to all the other class champions this year. See you all at the WPSA next year
