Hey Im lookin at either a 1987 or 1991 Honda 250x for my wife and i was wondering how good they are for a begginer rider.

depends if she can ride a manual clutch or not.If it was for my wife i would probaly get a 250ex,probaly be more of what she would like unless she is just a hardcore rider.250 ex doesnt have a manual clutch. But as far as being a good bike, it is.

well that really didnt tell me too much, my wife rides my 300 but wants the smaller engine for less power. So I guess I should have stated she knows how to ride with a clutch. Now to ask again how are the 250X's not the 250EX's.

they are acually faster than a 300. They are the same thing, expept the 250x has a shorter stroke (better for racing. It revs faster, which makes it overall faster.)

Ok I went with the 1991 250X, man that thing is a little faster than I had thought. It is all stock, bone stock, wat are some mods i should go with for it? I will try to get some pics up of it soon.

well i just bought an 87.. and before i bought it i had planned to get a pipe/kit and mod her all up.. i went riding yesterday on the trials where i live (i just moved here a week or 2 ago) and the trials are awesome, and i never even got to rip her wide open till i got on the highway. 3rd gear through the trails is perfect... you can whip around corners, climb pits, catwalk and jump in 3rd.. its like the ultimate gear lol.
i dont think i'll do any mods to it, for a while at least. after a whole day of riding i do need a front sprocket, but it was worth it.
