what in the hell is this about?
Posted by: Tri-valleyracin
im just saying that i started a hybrid in volving a z400 witch there isn't much of. i know a z400 would be a better choice but i wanted some thing differnt and i started building some thing no one has very seen before.

It looks like the rear of a 400ex with wooly boogers on it. You should tell us what is going on, then post the pics. Good luck on the build.

ok here it is. Its a lt250r frame with a blown motor. Im putting a z400 motor in it. The tires are off a old lt125 just so it can be rolled around. The rear plastics are off my 300ex so they can clear the pipe. its in the early stages. Its going to have a lot of custom parts.

That things prolly gonna be insane..... good luck on the build

Ya Im hoping it will be nice. Im still debating what to do on the front a-arms. Its goin to have a stock motor when i first build the motor. I rather put a real nice suspension on it and have a stock motor than stock suspension and have a sick motor. i have to build a custom air box and i may have to mod the frame to accept a-arms from another quad.

No offense because i applaud your willingness to think outside the box but them old LT250's don't handle for crap. Even with wider arms and good shocks the geometry just plain sucks. The have boat loads of bump steer and do not track well at all. They make a decent flat tracker but that's about it. I don't type this to offend you by any means, i just hate seeing someone put that much effort into something and end up dis-satisfied with the outcome.

no offence taken. I know they dont handle as good as some of the other quads out there. I can handle not having the best handling quad out there. i did it for years when i was riding my bayou 220.

Update
The motor is out and im looking for a motor but from the measurments i took off my dads z400 its goin to fit with room for play. Im still tring to see what way is the best for the plastics to be held on. i might make them unlach with the seat or have them bolted to the frame.

IMO,You should go with the stock plastics. The old 250 quadracers looked pretty good back in the day. You could probably get a killer set from Laker. I agree with Peewee, they dont have a very good suspension setup. A lot like the Banshees suspension. I had an 86 and had lots of trouble out of my front end. The lower A-arms would bend easily. You should look into upgrading the front suspension. As for putting an engine from a Z in it, would be pretty cool and it would keep it all suzuki.

Im deffinetly upgrading the suspension. The only reason I have the 300ex plastics is becuse the pipe sticks out and I would burn my leg. The lt250r ones it would be a pain to get them to fit. im keeping the fronts because I love they way they look. Ill get a picture of the rears and how the pipe sticks out just to show why the 300ex palstics are on there. I wanted to keep it suzuki becuase Im a big suzuki fan and i like kawasaki just as much. I own two suzukis and one honda. My sister has the kawasaki but I use to ride it all the time. For the supension i think im goin +2 a-arms and elkas.
