my friend has a 06 GNCC predator. hes just got his 3rd motor built and thats the last one. yesterday he was just riding along a path and the motor locked up. he thought it was because polaris air filters suck so he got and aluminum airbox with dual uni air-filters. we see now that wont the problem. he changed his oil every 5 hours. he didnt really get down on it or nothin. its out of warrenty now so hes gonna get an 07 yfz 450.

sux for your friend............

But, have him do his research. YFZ's aren't known for their intact motors.

When you say blown up, what do you mean. Hole in cylinder, hole in piston, broken rings, bent valves, broken valves? What is wrong- I am curious as I race a 05 preddy and haven't had any internal problems yet.

Is his jetting really lean?

Posted by: WhtPrd09

this time his crank locked up. but his first time it blew up his head was worped the valves, cylinder, piston. all of it was worped. he was told the first time that the motor went he should start changing the oil every 15 hours. but on this motor he changed his oil ever 5 hours. so i no it lubing rite. but it cant really be a lemon because hes gottin 1 whole new motor. 2 times rebulit. so i just dont no. and yea his jetting is perfect.

Posted by: Blue250X

Did he put the right amount of oil in it? It sounds like it is getting pretty hot.

Posted by: WhtPrd09

yea he did the thing ran perfectly every time. it just goes. yea the first motor he ran the piss out of i mean come on its a for wheeler i run the crap out mine and no problems.

Posted by: scramblerracer

Was he priming the oiling system each oil change? If it was warping the head, and damaging top end parts because of heat- along with the crank locking up this is all heat, no lubrication caused. Did warranty pay for the first few motors? Anyone check the cooling system?

Posted by: WhtPrd09

thats what i was thinkin that the anitfreeze wont flowing rite. yea warrenty did pay for the motors.

Posted by: Scotty7304

I dont think you have to prime the oil pump unless it sits without oil for over an hour.

Posted by: WhtPrd09

come to find out he broke a couple valves. its just nasty. hes gonna take some pix for me. and when i get them ill post the on here.

clearly this is not the quads fault, who ever rebuilt this motor or the owner had not a clue in the world what they were doing period

HE WAS BUYIN JUNK

Posted by: WhtPrd09

yea thats what i told him...but hes gonna get the 07 ltr450.

It sounds like there is more to this story.
The experinced I've had with Predator/Outlaws has been great. Including last years 12 hour shootout on an 06 Predator, the thing went the entire 12 hours without turning a wrench. Both the Honda and Yamaha had to pit for repairs. These bike were rode extremely hard by pro level racers.
I'd be looking at the people that rebuilt the motor.

Posted by: WhtPrd09

i said the same thing. he dont ride it hard tho. and the guy that rebuilt it is awsome. he knows what hes doin.

Posted by: WhtPrd09

he got it back...but this time its different polaris said because he put the 18x10x8 tires on it they said thats the reason y. so there lettin him get a test run. there payin his last payment to see if thats the reason y...they want him to run the piss out of it to see if he can blow it up but hes changin the front sprocket to get that difference back. but its goin no matter what...07 ltr 450 is coming
