well I just got my 416 put together and I have changed the oil in it a few times already and now it has a loud ticking that i can hear over my white bros exhaust which is pretty loud. Is this normal bc i have checked the valves and they are in spec so i have no clue, any ideas anyone?

Did you check out the bottom end before you put your 416 together?

When do you hear the tick? All the time? Only under load?

well actually I didnt do it a race shop near to where i Live did it all for me, so I have no idea what it was like

do you have a stock cam? if not ticking can be normal, mine always ticks.

mine is brand new and it has ticked since the 1st time i rode it.....can hear it over my exhaust also(its pretty loud), but i can't always hear it like in high revs

The OP needs to tell us when he hears the sound, what compression his piston is, and what fuel he's using. I just don't want him to think it's normal cam noise and dismiss the sound as harmless if it's really detonation he's hearing from not using the right fuel for his engine....

it may be the cam chain if its not valves

I have a stock cam and I can only hear it when ever it is at a idle. Im pretty sure that Im running the right fuel bc its still at a stock compression, but alot of people have complained about how loud the motors are in these things but I just hope that its nothing that will really hurt it.

i'd say its your valves buddy re check them

well it must have been my timing chain bc today i was riding and the motor made a clucking noise and then died and hasnt ran since, Im scared to take the valve cover off at this point any one have any idea if it was the timing chainthat broke if its hard to replace? I hope that its nothing to major in there but it does sond pretty lose in there.
