Am I an idiot?

ummm...ok, don't answer that...

My question is...does the 250EX have an oil filter? If so, where is it? I can't seem to find it anywhere and the manual doesn't say anything about it. I don't remember ever seeing an engine without an oil filter. Seems kinda odd to me...

it has some sort of screen i believe. It has no oil filter that you change. You may be able to clean the screen thing. im not sure though.

Alot of smaller engines don't have them. There is usually a screen someplace in an oil line or part of the oiling mechanism. Not sure where it is on the 250ex but if you do decide to clean it I doubt there will be anything in it. I cleaned it once on my ATC70 and there was nothing in it and that was probably the first time it was done in its 17 year lifespan.

its at the bottom of the engine, where the case splits in front. i would'nt worry about cleaning it unless you know you have gotten a lot of dirt in there recently. i would think about every 4 years would do as far as cleaning.

the reason most people dont clean it often is, you got to split the front case cover to access it.

Thanks, everyone! It's good to know I wasn't just going nuts! I really didn't need to clean it, because the quad is only a couple of months old, I was just curious and wanted to know for future reference.
