Weld in Grab Bar Kit???

Has anyone used a weld in kit for the subframe of the 400ex to change the grab bar to the bolt in 250R style. I was told that these kits are out there. Anyone know who makes them?

I have the bolt on type of grab bar on mine. I didn't buy a kit though, I just welded two pieces of 1/4 steel to the subframe after a test fit of my rack. Drill the holes for it and you are all set.... of course a paint job on the steel is needed to prevent rust.

OK, this may be a dumb question but does anyone make a straight bolt-on grab bar? I've been having trouble finding one.

PRM makes a bolt on grab bar

I am not aware of any kits that are weld on, but any competent welder can do the job of making the needed changes to allow a bolt on unit to work

Ahh, those PRm ones are OK, they mount to the stock grab bar with U-bolts. Kinda cheesy. This is a new concept for me, as putting a grab bar on my Blaster was a 2 minute affair with about 100 to choose from. The stock bar on the 400 just looks all spindly and incompetent. I want some beef back there to save my arse if I catch too much throttle or a hill-climb decides to toss me off. Know what I mean?

Technically the 400ex has no grab bar. And usually a bent subframe is the result of too much throttle on the 400, why they didnt use conventioanl grab bars is inknown.

The PRM units work ok for a bolt on, but I prefer to cut and shorten the subframe, weld on bungs and use a 450r grab bar.

Yeah, that would be great, except I don't have access to a welder. I guess I may have to put a welder on my shopping list and head over to Harbor Freight. Then practice with scraps until I'm confident enough to weld on my quad. Any close-up pics of what you have done to make the 450R bars work would be most excellent. Thanks, Pappy.
