Had a weird problem

Well i had just rebuilt my new engine to a stock sleeve with a bore of 50 over. I was running a boyseen rad valve with a 38 non airstryker carb.Well anyways i was able to start and idle but once i got to 3rd gear it was bogging down. So i changed the jetting on the carb and could not get it to work. Then i changed back to a stock reed valve. That still didnt work. So out the blue i disconnected the factory kill switch and it worked. I just thought that was kinda weird that it had nothing to do with carb or intake just electircal. I just thought that was kinda weird l must have a short somewhere. Damn 20 year old wiring lol.
