Hi Guys!

My son just had his first race at the fair in Wapakoneta, Ohio and he got second and really enjoyed it. He is racing a slightly modified TRX 90. My question is he wants to race again but how do I find out where the local races are and also other races that might not be to far from Ohio in surronding states? Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks Dave

What kind of racing does he want to do? MX or XC

I don't claim to know much about racing. But, I was recently at the Medina Count fair in Medina, Oh and they had youth racing mini quads on (8/3/06). It looked really cool and I had a blast watching them. So, I would get on-line and check the surronding Fairs around your area and check the Scedule of Events to see if they offer a race. I know of a place called Dirt Road Cycles located in Wayne County Ohio that has a youth race team you could check them out. I think a placed called Crows Caynon in Uhrichsville, OH has a pee-wee track and they race a couple times a year. Don't quote me on this stuff like I said not an experet.

You have the CRA series in both XC and Mx.
the nearest one to Wapakoneta is Mansfield
and they run XC there.

Hey Dave, I recommend you go to a race to make sure this is something you and your child can handle (Fair races are normally local riders and first timers so the skill level is low) You will see some of these kids ride like wildmen and be amazed. There are more riders in an organization called Competition Riders of America. They are out of Ohio also. www.racecra.org

Anyone interested in MX should consider www.lakebailee.com .Sunday the 20th of August is their next race.Scott Plessinger runs the races there and does a great job( www.plessingercycles.com ).The track has alot to offer and is worth a couple hour drive or so for those in the area.

There is a AMA indoor series in the winter that I race. It goes to Wilmington, Jackson, Columbus, and Eaton Ohio.

Then there is a summer series I run that last year it went to a really nice huge outdoor track in New Vienna, Ohio called New Vienna Motorsports, then went to Maysville, Kentucky(bout 6 miles off the border on AA highway)to Earlywine indoor track. Earlywines is an awesome indoor tack. I'm not sure if the Earlywine Summer Showdown series will go to New Vienna this year but thats a series that you could run.
