Jeremiah is like my favorite rider. He was always my favorite, ever sense I saw him in Huevos 7. He is such a good rider. I have a poster of him on my wall in my room and I even have him as my wallpaper on my computer, I have had them there for a couple months. I am praying for him. Get better Jeremiah.

JJ's update
I was asked to post this information.
JJ went into surgery sometime after 8 pm. The operation is expected to last 5 hours. The damage may not be what they expected and he does at this point have what seems to be a chance to walk again. While we pray that this is the case, no real information beyond what I just posted is being released from the Jones family, however they wish for your prayers and support through this tragic ordeal.

You always hate to hear stuff like this. Whether you're a fan of that person or not. I talked to JJ in May before the Muddy Creek race at a autograph session at a local bike dealer. And he seems like an awesome person. A really nice guy. Not to mention he's a top notch racer. I watched him and Gust dominate at Muddy Creek. I really hope its not as bad as the first reports. The racing thing is not that important any more. I just hope he can walk again. But hopefully not only will he walk again maybe at some point he can return to riding the #2 Zuk. I know this will motivate Digger. Like z rider2 said he will be a man on a mission. Go Gust!
My thoughts and prayers go out to the Jones family and team Suzuki. Get well soon J.J.

Update 1:35am
The latest update we have from the Jones family....
Jeremiah Jones is in his fourth hour of surgery, and everything has been coming along fine as they have secured the fractured vertebrate in his back, and there is still no word on the extent of damage to his spinal cord, but Jeremiah's family and friends continue to wait and pray for the best.
Posted by: Webopper
Thanks for the update Pappy...
Last week my buddy called me up on the phone and was like "Hey man, 2 words for ya", and I said "Yea?"..."Jeremiah Jones" was all he said and I knew he just bought himself a new LT-R.
Jeremiah was poised to be so much more for this sport than just a rep for a particular manufacturer though, he seems like the type of guy poised to be a representative for the entire sport...
My thoughts and prayers are with ya Jaramiah...

Shortly after 2AM, this Tuesday Morning, the surgeons completed the nearly six hour long operation on Jeremiah Jones. Unfortunately, his spinal cord was found to be seriously damaged as anticipated, but it hasn’t been announced whether it is damaged or actually severed, which would be the worse case scenario. As of now, the odds are not in favor of Jeremiah ever walking again, but as anyone who has been fortunate enough to know and meet Jeremiah will tell you, he will give it everything in his power to overcome this hurdle.
The surgeons applied a bone graph and screws to Jeremiah’s damaged vertebrate, which has set the stage for the healing process to begin. All we can do now is pray for Jeremiah Jones and his family during this very difficult time, but as Joe Byrd’s Mechanic, Dan Lamey, told me today, “Jeremiah still has the use of his arms, and he can still do almost anything he wants.” Dan should know because he was paralyzed from the chest down in 1983 when he went through a fence at the start of a race on an ATC, and he has since become one of the most respected engine builders in the ATV Industry.
Jeremiah’s Mom, Brenda, has been overwhelmed by all the support that Jones family has received from the ATV community, and the Jones family thanks everyone for their thoughts and prayers.

Thanks for the update....
again...all we can do is hope & pray that the damage, while severe, is not permanent !!!
Continued prayers for JJ and his entire family.

Thanks for keeping us up to date.

Hi all,
I spoke with Jamie about a half hour ago. JJ's surgery went from 9pm est to almost 4am est. He has not severed his spinal cord, however it is severely damaged. They have told him he most likely will never walk again. However, Jamie, JJ and family have a different outlook and say that he will!!
I was one of the EMT's that day that treated him and took him to the hospital. I have never really followed ATV racing, but since Sunday I have done nothing but read about it and about all he has done with his racing career, along with his wife Jamie. My heart, prayers and support are 110% theirs while they get through this. They are already doing support bracelets, fund raising etc. If you feel you can contribute, I will get more information on where to send the donations and ideas from Jamie and JJ tomorrow.
I plan on going to the hospital tomorrow to see him and the family and will update you once I return.
Please continue the support on here for him as I plan on printing out the love and support on here and taking that to him tomorrow to read.
Prayer, faith and positive attitude!
Deb

Hang in there JJ. God is the Ultimate Doc and can heal you. Isiah 53 says "by his strips we are healed" He took on any and everything we would ever endure. Believe he will heal you and accept it. It may not happen over night. Don't give up! My family and I will be praying for you. Have faith my brother!

We have ordered Blue Silicone bracelets with Jerimiah Jones #2 and we will have them at Loretta's for $5. The money made will go to the Jones family. I'm sure they will be announcing more at the races.
I talked to Jamie a little while ago and she said they were waiting to go in for the MRI and JJ was is good spirits. Lets pray for the best.

I stopped with my son today and visited with JJ, Jamie and their family. They are very thankful for the great support they are getting. I printed off all of your good wishes and took them for JJ to read for more inspiration!
He was going in for an MRI and that was going to determine when he could be heading home to begin therapy, possibly in Atlanta. He needs to be able to sit fully upright without feeling ill or dizzy. Remember, this is only the 2nd day since his surgery, so he is still weak from that ordeal of 6 hours. JJ's spirits seemed good and his attitude is that he plans on fighting this all the way through!
The family as stated above will be having the bracelets done and will also be having stickers showing his number and signature. I let them know I can also help sell this items and all money will go to help the family during this time. I know they are having auctions and raffles at the next race as well. Please consider submitting an item(s) for these auctions/raffles to help JJ and the family out.
Please keep up the positive posts, prayers and encouragement. JJ does have a hell of a battle in front of him, but with all our support, a positive attitude and faith in God, he can and will get through this.
I plan on returning to visit later this week if JJ is still in the hospital. Until then, please again keep these positive postings coming and I will bring him another bunch when I get back over there. FYI it was like 20 pages once it was all printed on my microsoft word. On a side note, I also printed the photo of him that was put together showing 3 different race events and framed it for more incentive and told him that he would be back doing that in time!
Keep in touch - keep the prayers and keep sending encouragement!

I have been praying for JJ and is family ever since sunday when I heard the bad news. JJ is my favorite rider ever since I saw him in Huevos 7. He is also a great role model for the sport. I never hear anything bad about him. He always races clean. It is always cool to watch him ride, he has a great riding style and is not afraid to charge and ride hard. Get better JJ.

My thoughts, prayers, and wishes go out to JJ and his family. I hope you overcome this obstacle and pull through for the future.
On my second thought, it kind of concenred me seeing the (rookie) pro riders this weekend. Greg Gee just made his pro debut. Richard Pelchat and Jasmin Plante made the qualifier . it concerned me because the pro (main) pro riders have seemed to had a groove so far this season. There hasnt been any accidents in the holeshots or anything. Yes i know the espn's have been taking some pros out of the gnc's. It just seemed more people have been coming up without being established pro level in the begining of the season. It sucks seeing a great rider with championship material go down liek this.
I know accidents can happen at any given time and they are freakish at some points.
Just my .02 cents

JJ will pull through this just like he pulls through all of those races he is a very strong guy. I hope everything goes well for him,and he is able to be in front of the field of atv's once again. JJ is the man My prayers are to him.
Posted by: 400exBro
Just to clairify Plante, Pelchat and Gee have been racing pro in Canada for a while now so they expeirenced at what they do. Yes they might be well know in the US, but in Canada Pelchat is the number one plate holder, and Plante is running second right now behind Pelchat.
I don't want to take away from JJ's thread, i just wanted to point that out.
We are praying for you JJ, we know you can pull through!!!

Jeremiah Jones Update: 8/3/06
JJ has been in great spirits, and he is determined as ever to overcome his paralysis one way or another, and on a very positive note, JJ has responded to some of the therapy, and he was able to sense the pressure of a cold cup and pin applied to areas below his waist. He still doesn’t have any feeling or movement, but he could sense the pressure, which is one very small but promising step to recovery.
Now for the bad new, JJ received a MRI and a CAT scan today, and it revealed that several of the pins inserted into his vertebrate were actually affecting his spinal area, so he went back into surgery tonight to have the pins relocated. If all goes well, JJ is expecting to be released from the Hospital sometime between Sunday and Tuesday, and he will be transported, as of now, to a rehabilitation facility in Atlanta, GA where he will stay for an extended period of time.
The trip from New York to Georgia will require the use of a medical airplane ride, which will be a costly trip and exceed what will be covered under his insurance policy, so in the first phase of raising money for JJ, we are making available for purchase online, blue Jeremiah Jones #2 bracelets, which can be purchased for $5.00 Each along with a Flat Rate $5.00 shipping charge for any quantity of bracelets ordered. Also, for those just looking to make a standard donation, a field is available for this as well through paypal. For those without paypal accounts, you can also mail in your orders or donations to Debi Bartosek, and the order information is available online at Jeremiah Jones Bracelet & Donation Link.
Bracelets are already on order, but they haven’t arrived yet and more will be ordered, so please allow up to 4 weeks to receive your bracelet via mail. Bracelets will also be available at the remaining ATVA MX Nationals and WPSA events. Also, several regional race promoters have also requested bracelet shipments, which will only help expand the reach for raising funds for Jeremiah Jones.
Here is the link to place your order or make a donation:
Jeremiah Jones Bracelet & Donation Link
The Jones Family thanks everyone for the incredible outreach they have received from people from around the global, and I personally thank everyone for posting all their great words of encouragement for Jeremiah and his family.
God Bless,
Harlen

Hi all,
JJ will be flying home today to a re-hab center in Kentucky instead of Atlanta. I spoke with Jamie today and she said the last MRI showed that everything was in place and now it was time for healing. JJ still has swelling in the back area due to the injury and surgery and that will take time to go down, however, his spirits are still good and his determination is strong!
Please continue to let JJ and his family know that all are rooting for him 110%!
He will be flown by a medical flight and the family will be returning via the RV. Keep them all in your prayers for a safe trip home.
JJ, keep up the good work with the positive attitude and spirit! I have to say it was a pleasure meeting you , but I am sorry it was under these circumstances. Keep your head up and know that there are a bunch of people pulling for you!
FANS and supporters - Please also remember the fund raising bracelets, stickers and donations on the page link in a previous post.
A special quote from my late mom...."Always give 110% in everything you do, because then even if you fail, you will have succeeded!" JJ - You WILL succeed!
Take care and God Bless you and yours!

JJ there is no place like home!
Keep your head high and work hard.
I have always been told God has a reason.
Believe and trust in the Lord!
I know you are going to do well!
You have so many people behind you, even people like me you don't even know???
Keep a smile, God bless you and your family.

Where and when will the braclete's be sold at Loretta's?
My family will be there and we would like to get some.

i guess it took a serious injury for these current crop of pros to finally realize that they need to quit riding like asses when it comes to the first turn. Man, some guys just dont know when to let off and take a mid pack start. I guess thats the only way some of these guys think they can win a moto! Too bad jones was the recipent of overzelous riders. Glad I dont have to ride against these guys! I think its time to retire.
Posted by: racers
I feel the same way ,but your waisting your breath telling riders to back off at the start. All the top riders have the ability to start 10 seconds late and still win. How many times after a bad start has Digger , Jeremiah,John,Cory, etc, come from near last to win . Some guys ARE fast and some guys just think they'er fast.Using other quads as they'er brakes . Banging quads on the jumps.Desperate moves come from desperate people. It's like Nascar without the roll cage !Ya the aggresive racer can win but can he win without intentionally touching another rider and ,giving him room to pass you if he can , proving who is the better rider on that day .We know how good it feels to win CLEAN . Way better that bashing and smashing and blocking your way to a win...................I guess I just waisted about 50 breaths !!! ...........Get well JJ

Hi all,
I heard from Jamie the other day and she stated JJ is doing very well in rehab. He sometimes feels like his right leg is sleeping and numb and then loses the feeling, but it is something!
Jamie said JJ is doing wheelies in his wheelchair and if all goes well he will be home next week and continue his rehab there.
Please continue to post support on here for JJ and the family. I know he really enjoyed reading the posts I had printed for him while he was in Cooperstown after the accident.
Keep your faith and strength JJ and know we are all thinking of you and pulling for you!
Posted by: MAD450r
Im very happy to here JJis still in good spirits and I hope all goes well for him.
Keep up the good work JJ we're all pulling for you.
