New Berlin, NY - Boy does time fly because it seems just like yesterday that ATV motocross racing was making its debut at Unadilla Motosports, which has become of the holy grail of the AMA Outdoor Nationals, and a new legacy has begun for ATV motocross racing with it becoming an annual stop on the ATVA National Motocross schedule.

Posted by: Admin

Unlike the picture perfect conditions in 2005, the area received heavy rain Thursday night and into Friday Morning, which delayed the start of practice, and only a few die-hards even ventured out onto the track to be completely covered in mud, but the mud didn’t deter Michelle Reiser as she continues to gain momentum against Angela Butler and Heather Byrd.

Posted by: Admin

Only a few Pros riders also decided to gear-up and take a few laps in the mud, but Trent Kandel didn’t seem to mind as he even had a little bit of fun.

Posted by: Admin

It appears there will be a new face on the Pro starting gate this weekend with the Canadian Greg Gee deciding to make his Pro debut, and he won’t be the only Canadian on the line as Richard Pelchat and Jasmin Plante has made the trip down to the US once again.

Posted by: Admin

Unfortunately, only a few classes were able to get in some laps before the skies opened up again and dumped easily over an inch of rain on the Unadilla track, but some racers still went out for a few laps in the pouring rain.

Posted by: Admin

As the rain steadily intensified, practice was eventually cancelled as the staging area turned into a pond.

Posted by: Admin

Ponds began to form all around the pits, which forced Josh Creamer to move his pit to higher ground.

Posted by: Admin

Once the rain stopped, the track crew attempted to drain most of the puddles including Lake Yoshimura.

Posted by: Admin

With nothing else to do for the rest of the day, many just drove around high and dry to avoid slopping through the mud.

Posted by: Admin

These girls weren't afraid of getting dirty as they were almost completely covered in mud from head to toe.

Posted by: Admin

Once the sun sent down, the lights came on and the track crew worked through the night to prepare the track for racing on Saturday.

Posted by: Admin

With the fog and lights, it was a perfect time to get some cool night photos.

Posted by: Admin

By Saturday morning, there was a steady breeze, which worked awesome in drying up the track .

Posted by: Admin

Amazingly, by the time the first motos began, the track was already dusty in sections and the track was barely even muddy.

Angela Butler and Heather Byrd put on an incredible show as this pair continues to battle for the women's championship with Angela Butler taking the advantage with her 6th win of the season at Sunset Ridge, which moved her past Heather Byrd with 5 wins.

Angela picked up where she left off at Sunset Ridge and took the first Moto win, but Heather could still claim the win if she wins the second Moto.

Posted by: Admin

Brian King was right a home at Unadilla as he jumped out to the early lead in the 16-24 Class.

Posted by: Admin

With 629 entries, many of classes were broke up into divisions and there were going to be several LCQ events, and for the first time in several rounds the Pros out of the top 10 in points were forced to qualify.

One of the new faces in the Pro Class is Josh Upperman, and he grabbed the Holeshot in the Pro qualifier.

Posted by: Admin

Josh Upperman maintained the lead from start to finish over Josh Creamer in second place.

Posted by: Admin

Several Canadian’s signed up for the Pro Class with Jasmin Plante, Richard Pelchat, and Greg Gee all earning a spot in the Pro Main.

Posted by: Admin

#52 Dana Creech also made a surprise appearance this weekend and also qualified for the Pro Main, but later he decided not to race.

Posted by: Admin

Unfortunately, Jason Dunkelberger would have an early collision with Richard Pelchat, which dropped him back in the pack, so he would need to go to the LCQ to earn a spot in the Main.

Posted by: Admin

Shortly after the Pro Qualifier the skies opened back up and it poured for nearly an hour, which forced racing to be put on hold until the storm passed.

Posted by: Admin

Once again, the track and pits turned into a muddy mess

Posted by: Admin

Regardless of the rain and soupy conditions, 6 Pros were forced to the line for the LCQ with only the top four making the big show.

Matt White was lucky enough to grab the Holeshot with Greg Gee holding the inside to avoid the mud shower while Dunk was being sprayed down by Matt White's roost.

Posted by: Admin

Matt White wasn't immune to the mud as he was covered after the first lap, and he would go on to take the win with Trent Kandel, Jason Dunkelberger, and Greg Gee all advancing to Sunday's Pro Race.

Posted by: Admin

The Pro First Moto is about to begin in about 30 minutes and the Women's Production Class is on the line

well i can tell ya that jones drop back to third and gust moves to second with byrd still winning the points

Well Jones didn't finish either today. This may put Doug within 10-15 points of Byrd.

Posted by: Rafikie

anyone with the overalls for pro class?

Posted by: crazyaboutlsu

without knowing where Byrd finished, I can't tell you.

However, let's say he finished 15th overall. Gust would be 5 points behind him, now.

Going into this round Byrd had 246 and Gust 217. Gust won today, so that's 30 points, which gives him 247. If Byrd finished 15, which I'm assuming that he would finish out of the top 10 with the DNF, he would get 6 points, giving him 252.

For the offical point, see http://www.atvaonline.com/race/resu...s=501&year=2006

Also, points go like this

1) 30
2) 25
3) 21
4) 18
5) 16
6) 15
7) 14............

20) 1

Hope this helps...............

I dont think that second overall in the last race would be considered not dong so well. Does anyone know what happened to Byrd's quad and what is finish was?

We went today and JJ was probably the one guy we really wanted to watch ride. After his crash in the first moto he was really moving even though he was last, picking some fast lines. Looked like he would be a force in the second moto. I'll pray for him tonite.

Crazy Ken Murphy, dont know if he broke it or not. His old record was 176ft I beleave. Ill ask him and let you know. I dont beleave he did though

Posted by: JDMXKID

Okay I have a few things to say. For starters my prayers go out to the entire JJ family. I am really heartbroken and wish him luck through surgery. Hopefully this gets turned around into something positive. Stay strong!

The snowmobile guy is freaking crazy! I'm really pissed I missed that. -LoL-

As for Byrd using Maxxis and not Kenda. Hum, maybe because Maxxis work?

It was said Ken Murphy Jumped about 193 feet

My prayers and wishes go out to the Jones Family. I hope his brother comes on here and gives an update.

I know Jone will be ok and back next season strong. I just know it.

Get well soon Jeremiah!

Posted by: Ralph

Its extremely sad to hear about these things happening. I was also really surprised how seriously he was injured. Last i heard at the track he was starting to get feeling again in his legs but i guess i heard wrong.

I think Jeremiah is one of those people who will be able to beat the odds and have a good recovery. My condolences go out to Jeremiah and his family.

dude get well soon jj

Posted by: USAMoto00

Man, that wreck had to be horrible. I hope JJ a very speedy recovery and hope things work out for the best for him. That just happened to Anthony Mastrocola at Steel City, and it will be a life changing experience for sure. I pray that will both make a full recovery and be able to walk again before long. I also want to say that Upperman is going to be tough to beat these last few rounds! Go Josh.

ERIC HAYES

I just can't believe it! I watched this kid grow up loving this sport. That first new warrior got him hooked. You could go by his house about anytime and he would out there crafting his new hobbie. I have seen Jeremiah make a lot of comebacks. I can't help but believe that with the Lords help, he will walk again. I ask that all of you take some time and pray for Jeremiah, his family and the medical team that is caring for him. GET WELL SOON JJ! WE LOVE YA!!!!!!!

Heres a thought....
Maybe if we shortened the hole shots, the severity of the crashes may not be as harsh.
Even with shorter holeshots there still will be rubbin.
But that first turn won't be 5th gear pinned.
Just a thought for the WPSA and ATVA.
I personally would like to see that.

I agree, and this issue was discussed last night here. I hope and pray that Jeremiah is ok and that no one every has to go through this type of injury again, but sadly I think it is going to get worse as the sport grows.

All we can do is pray.

i was there since thursday, and I must say, that track is amazing...I had the chance to meet Harlen and I must say he is a great guy, even with his motor home bouncing off the rev limiter as he goes down the highway at 95MPH (LOL!)

Watching the pros for the first time was the most amazing thing ive seen in a while, after i heard jones went down...it looked like he just got stunned as he was out jumping everything and not even caring about yellow flags, it sucks about his injury but I do hope he gets better

Posted by: frickle400ex

kenny murphy is a buddy of mine i watch him ride snocross and i went to the AMA motocross race at unadilla a few weeks back there and i got to go in the track with him and yes at that time his coller bone was brokin it was stickin out of his skin you could ssee the out line of his bone and im realy made i didnt see this one i was sick so i couldnt go his sholder must be healed bc the last one when i saw him jump when he was landing he was favoring the sholder....it was kool to be in the track and feal like VIP lol yeah hes a kool guy and crazy...he was on a polaris but he didnt like the sled so he went back to Ski-Doo that was a 800 MOD sled he was jumpin, i think Pappy might of knew that but just to tell everyone that thing rips *****...yeah i know i had a lot to say but i wish i could of ben ther!!!!!!

Any chance you can fill everybody in then on a more discriptive note. Everybody seems to have mixed stories cuz no one really knows the exact truth it seems. If you saw it, just let us know what really happen like if he hit a wheel and started flippin or got run over... I'm just tryin to help us all out that were not there and sending our wishes to JJ! Thanks!

JJ you are in my prayers man. I wish you best of luck in surgery and hope you have a speedy recovery.

In moto 1 he went down but got back up and racing again, I am not sure what part of the track that was on but I did hear he landed in a big mud hole.
In moto 2 going into the first turn Jones was WAY on the outside. 2 guys to his inside got together (looked like Brown got into Jasmin plante) sending Plante HARD into jones which ejected him off the right front of his quad and underneath it (it even looked like Plante may have landed on JJ) and then Brown slammed into JJ and his quad which jammed him under his own quad even more. I dont think anyone realized he was under his quad for a while, even while they were pulling everyone apart. It was about as brutal as it gets.

Here is a pic my friend took.... we can see why JJ is hurt now...

Posted by: 400grl

I can see why he was hurt so badly - it looked as if the grab bar of Plante's quad hit Jeremiah square in the lower back........

I am not a super religious person, but I will be praying for JJ and his family like crazy.........I couldn't imagine if something like that happened to Jason......one of my worst fears about this whole racing thing.......my sincerest hopes for a miracle, or at lthe very least, the strength to get through this life altering event.......

Posted by: 450r51

i was standing right along the fence there when it happened, it was the nastiest crash i have ever seen, i hope jeremiah will race again. and yes they didnt even realize he was under the quad for like a minute, then they frantically got it off of him. he never did a lap of the second moto.

on a side note, i had a good time i crashed hard in my lcq and got my bell rang pretty bad.

i was standing right next to creech and wes miller during moto 1 of the pros and they were commenting on upperman, saying how he's riding how farr was 5 years ago, so smooth is what they said. he should be a champion in a few years if all goes well.

Posted by: badvox

Thoughts n prayers to the entire Jones family and team suzuki.
All must be hurting inside and extremely concerned and I feel for them.

Posted by: JRP

"I spoke with Jamie this evening, as of 1:00pm JJ had not gone into surgery yet. They are checking out a heart murmur before he goes into surgery. The surgery will be probably 5 hours once he is in. She says there is only a 1% chance of him walking again. With the power or prayer maybe enough of us can help his chances. PLEASE PRAY FOR JERIMIAH!"

quote from another site.

Posted by: Cindi

Nobody will know for sure until the surgery is over. There is a chance that the spinal cord is pinched and not severed. Please be postive and keep praying.

Best Wishes go out to JJ and hopes for speedy recovery. I saw part of the crash from across the track. I have one pic of the medical staff and team members around him. Its zoomed in because I was takeing pics of the riders coming out of the Gravity Cavity. I was not aware the extent of his injuries till later.

Also I have a video of the hole shot from center field of the production C race for those of you who want to see what the hole shot looks like.

I have more pics of the races that I will post later
