So can you explain to me in more details that move you make with your body and handlebars when you take of a jump in order to whip hard?
Thanks

Posted by: czrider263

Step low turn high and your quad should whip sick. takes some practice tho.

Posted by: chaz#32

these are my friends robbie mitchell and dave lindsey whipping it at eachother it turned out bad ***

Posted by: Bighead1

Posted by: yellowzo3

Posted by: chaz#32

Posted by: yellowzo3

cool thanks man...is the rider on the kfx big? as in tall/strong etc...cause i have a z400 and theyre pretty big and it would seem pretty difficult to whip it around like that. theyre both awesome riders!

Posted by: chaz#32

um i don't know he probably weighs like 180 or something i ain't sure but yea he's pretty tall, but he ain't like muscle strong though.but yea i'm gana make em teach me how to do it.

Posted by: korniev

F*** guys! How do you do those whips? With me it only works when I start the whip while in the face of a jump however I see people here who can start a whip while already in the air! WOW

Posted by: rooster300ex

That right there is the recipe for landing sideways and ripping you off the quad.

that is amazing!!! i am confuses as to how to initiate a whip though, so how do u do it? and is 5-6ft of air enough??

Posted by: 8my_Cash

just try to kick out the rear of your quad like when you slide into a turn just in the air.

start small and progress.

hard to say what is the exact way of doing it, its more of a feel you get with the quad when you do it.

Posted by: pkrblaster

the guy that owns breezewood proving grounds can throw some nasty whips and try to keep up to him he gives you one hell of a work out he used to be a district7 A rider theres a picture of him three post up from this one on his 400ex

I was practicing whips a couple weeks ago, not knowing anything about how to do them I just hit the ramp at an angle and was whippin it straight for the landing. Not alot of extension, but I was flat-landin a 2" tall jump.

Posted by: 400exrider36

this was last year when i first got my yfz, so its surely not updated... cause the thing hasnt been running right since, but heres a little whip pic i got when it did decide to run right....

Posted by: Nate_450R

what is a good height to be at for just beginning to practice whips, but yet still be able to do them?

To begin practicing them, I would start out small. Maybe like 3-4 ft of air. You need to first start practicing throwing the quad around. I first started by just throwing my quad around on all the little jumps and singles on a mx track whenever I got a chance. You need to get some control of your quad while airborne (no matter how little air) before you can step up and do it on a bigger jump.

Once you get the movement down, just gradually move up to bigger and bigger jumps. You will also need to learn how to turn the bars down/up while hanging your body off the high side of the quad while extending one leg straight towards the low side...this is sort of the secret to the movement. You can get some decent turndowns with as little as 5-6 ft of air, any less and there isn't much time to tweak it out and bring it back with style

....also: it is much easier to do them on say a 3rd gear jump with a lot of "pop" to it than a 4th or 5th gear distance jump. Airtime is your friend

Whipping it a little at the dunes. Shot from the back.

just a little http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k206/blaster_99/IMG_0009-5.jpg

Posted by: ThumPIN_450R

Here is one of me getting a little sideways. I'm going ----> that direction. If you want some perspective on it that cone behind me is the landing that I somehow stuck perfectly.

Posted by: ThumPIN_450R

not nearly as huge but it still looks good I think.
