the use of th the ytx9bs in the part number but is it going to hurt if i use a different battery. in other words would it be ok to use a battery from another bike, as long as it wasnt to small.

If you want to use a different battery, get a Hyabusa battery. Same size, more cranking power. YT12A-BS I believe is the #.

it wont hurt to use another battery as long as teh polarity is the same and it fits in the battery box. The hayabusa battery is a high performance battery that is the same size as teh stock battery, but it is more expensive. also the YTZ10s is another high performance option, with even more CCA's than the 'busa battery for about teh same price
