Valve adjustments on a Eiger!!!

I need to adjust my valves on my Suzuki Eiger, but i have never done so before. I can figure most things out, but in my repair manual it states i need a Thickness Gauge and a Clearance Adjuster Locknut. Do i need hotse exact tools, or if there another way to adjust them. If anyone is in my area i will gladly get a 12pk and a couple steaks for someone willing to come help a guy out. I really need to have this done by July 20th
