ok i have a 2004 400EX with a wb exhaust, jetted, holeshot tires and pro taper bars. My friend has a STOCK 2001 400ex. we went ridin today and i was ridin his and i could get a wheelie up in 4th gear. On mine i can only get them up in 2nd with out clutch. I can get them up in 3rd if i hit a bump or somethin and pull it up but how is this possible???

Your friend can have a smaller front sprocket on his EX and that would cause it to come up easily.

Delete two posts, Quad_King.

Use the clutch, lean back, and PULL HARD.

Yes, this will make a difference.

I can pull a wheelie in 5th gear pinned down the rode. Stand up and pull hard it will balance out. Make sure your foot is ready to hit the rear break.

You can pull a wheelie in 5th gear on a stock 400. Practice makes perfect. he will get there

i can pull beter whelies on my pred then my buddys 450ex.but i could pull better wheelies on the 396 then with the pred.the wb pipe should give you more bottom end pop.so im lost there.and the other ex is stock so if you could do it on his and not yours im lost there to.all i can say man is i have been riding quads and snowsleds for d a m n near 16years and it takes practice.what you do is find a flat field with alot of grass and all you do is wheelie all day till shes out of gas.sorry for a long paragragh.practice makes perfect(but not as good as me) jk.good luck
