Chain adjuster POS?>banshee!

Im about to buy a quad and the banshee looks sweet and i want one, but I was wondering if the chain adjuster was a POS.

Questions:
Does it strip nuts and bolts a lot?
Is it easy to strip them?
Does it align the axle right or do you gotta close an eye and guess

Iv heard the front shocks are harsh, what do you mean? Are they too soft and they bottom out easy or are the hard and have good bottoming resistence?

I ride a lot of backroads, trails that require stopping and walking ahead to see if there is a mudpit, woods that require 1st gear slow going only, open feilds, and ill be jumping max. 20 footers.

Whats the reliability like on a shee if you change the oil, clean the filter, wash it after every ride and adjust the chain when needed?

What is a con of defect in this machine besides the bottom end?

ps biggy - is the chain adjuster a POS?
If it is, ill probobly either get a 400ex or 300ex or mojave, do you know what the chain adjusters on those are like?

im guessing that the Banshee and Warrior chain adjusters are the same..... My Warrior adjuster was easy as **** to adjust -- loosen one bolt and then tighten the adjuster. But being an 89, the threads got all rusty and the bouncing around without a skid plate took its toll on the bolt and it stripped -- i couldnt tighten it any more and the chain kept on falling off. It was simple to take the adjuster off and then i had my uncle just weld a new nut to the piece and used a different bolt. Lining up was simple -- i just loosened everything up and started kicking the axle until it looked aligned

Just wondering......Why would you make a decision on whether or not to buy a quad based on the chain adjuster??

u dont adjust the chain that often so dont let that make ur decision.

yup if its the same as a warrior its easy no problems

On my dirtbike i strip nuts and bolts all the time and it gets incredibly annoying. thanks.

Im deciding on these quads: wolverine, 400ex, 300ex, banshee, warrior

My cousin hated his adjustment at first...but he got good at it...hes puting on a lonestar swingarm(honda style adjustment)

Yea, you just have to get used to the adjustment, its not really that bad. I stripped one tensioner, thats it! Its not the best assembly, but it works...get a banshee!!!!

Adjusting the chain on a banshee isn't all that bad, granted it could be better but I have never had any problems doing mine. Just grab the handful of wrenches needed and once you've done it a couple of times it only takes about 5 minutes to do and you'll be back flying high.

You have been looking to get a quad for a year and a half now ..............

umm where is the lip on those pictures. yer just like in the air, on flat ground? lol

Posted by: bansheeguy77

the shee adjusters suck majorly mine kept braking
i have a few questions for that pic...yea wheres the lip how long is that jump? how did the stock rear shock like that jump? and 3 the most important question....where the **** is ur dam helmet!! its kinda dumb to just ride around the yard without 1 but jumping about 10 ft in the air with a backwards hat on dude real cool ur amazing

Posted by: cotttonwoody

Banshee front shocks are harsh because there really stiff. They bottom out about at the same height of a 400ex but the 400ex shocks are lot smoother

Posted by: bansheeguy77

if your referring to my post i know how bad stock shee shocks are...ive owned 1 for like a year and got stupid and got rid of it. the rear shock was really bad but yet i think better than the ex's it was easier to adjust. actually i think stock for stock the shees shocks were better most just dont like them cause they land them awquard....if u can fly its all good

nice helmet out4sand

dude, i think its a fake, either he got massive air, and is jus commin down, or he took a pic and chropped it, but thats my $0.02

Posted by: banshee-rider13

yea i didnt like the chain adjustment on mine either so i fixed that and got a lonestart round housing so that its honda style makes things alot easer but the banshee is great for reliableaty as long as you take care of it and do the small things 2 it

Posted by: out4sand

It's not a fake pic, it's from this memorial day weekend at Coos Bay, I have another 5 or so pic's of the same spot but that on this one I got the best air and I was flying farther then my buddies so none of them show the lip, if you look close you can see the shadow on the ground; don't know how I could fake that. The lip is ust outside the left side of the pic. The stock rear shock is starting to sag and it needs to be rebuilt or replaced very soon. As for the helmet, I won't even go into it because your right, should be on but as you can see it's not. Here is a pic from the weekend before that shows the lip.
