ok i was driving my bike a few miutes ago turned it off and when i wnet to turn it back on the nutral light, headlights, nothing turned on and it wouldnt start..i jumpstarted it and the headlights and everyhting came on..so is my battery dead? and if so then how do i charge it?

Posted by: waycott_259

anyone??

Posted by: ohsobad_chevy

After you shut it off the last time, did you try to start it back up. If it didnt start. your battery is prolly dead. You can use a low amp charger to charge it back up. I forgot to mention there is a 15 amp fuse near the starter solenoid/battery box that you need to check as well, prior to re-charging the battery.

will it charge itself up from driving?

how long should i have to ride it for the battery to be good for at least today?

Posted by: ohsobad_chevy

lol...Just ride it for a while...maybe an hour or so... Just long enough to let the altenator charge the batter back up

Posted by: waycott_259

alright thanks man..so if its still doing that after about an hour? probly a short somwhere?

Posted by: exrider008

maby, my old 300ex took a hold day of riding and it still didnt have alot of juce. so go for a long ride and see what it dose.

what do iahve to disconect in order to take my battery out of the bike? and do i need a certain type of batery in it? im considering just buying a new one

Posted by: exrider008

all u have to do is take the positive and negitive wires off and then what ever honds it in place.

what quad is this?

Posted by: waycott_259

Posted by: ohsobad_chevy

yes then take the battery retainer off and take the battery out. The battery will be in a seperate container, you can take it out prior to charging.

Posted by: waycott_259

lol...yeah the terminals

Posted by: waycott_259

so did u maen the bracket tho?

Posted by: ohsobad_chevy

On the 400ex's, dont know about the z400's, I just assumed that you had a 400ex. But anyway, the battery will be inside a plastic retainer and then there will be a plastic peice that holds the battery in.

Take the battery out, self explanitory.
Attach the charger to the terminals (pos to pos...neg to neg)
Put the charger on 6 Volts and let it charge overnight (not going to be ready in 2 hours, sorry)

Posted by: waycott_259

can i put it on 12 volts so it will charge faster?

Posted by: ohsobad_chevy

No, you are really supposed to use a "trickle" charger, but 6V will work as well.
