anyone really know? I'd assume the R after 450 stands for race but not sure about that either? and have no clue what trx stands for.

Not really sure what the trx is for if anything. It's probably just the model number. As for the R, if I'm not mistaken, it just means there are 450cc. Like the yfz for example has 449cc. The old 250r had a stock 250cc engine. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that is what it means.

wasnt the 400exs like fourtrax400ex, or trx400ex. My guess would be fourtrax but that dont sound right

i think it came from fourtrax....but they shortened it down to be the same as most other bikes. crf, yfz, ltr, etc.

If im not mistaken:

TRX means SporTRaX
R means Racer

im prob wrong on thins but Fourtrax are hondas utilites and Sportrax are their sport models so i think it came from the shortening of Spor(T)(R)a(X). and the R deff came from Racing. honda only made three things that ended in R: ATC250R, TRX250R, and TRX450r. but thats just the atvs. the steet bikes get two R's

trx is from fourtrax. the 250r were fourtrax 250r and they shortened it and it didn't change to sportrax until a few years ago. the first 400ex's were fourtrax also.

what about the raptor 660r? the xr650r?

r usually means racing. they use it in cars too. SE-R, GT-R, etc.
