We used a 400 ex durablue axle in my 04 450r for one race while my lsr was getting straitened... It seemed to work good..
Wheels and shocks will work also.

i know for a fact that front bumpers match up fine, and that steering stems work fine also.

the wheels will work.i installed front shocks from 450r to 400ex check the searches.there r of few different ways to installed them.i installed them on my buddies 400ex and didn't revalve them.he loves them like that soi don't know if it is the weight for revalving or not. he's weighing in around 180 or so.plus it depends on the terrian too.

Yep only a few nerfs will work, most will NOT, I dont see how the steering stems will work as they appear to be different lenghts, the 450R one is way more laid back and the 400ex one is more straight up and down. Wheels will, bars, bumpers, I've heard of some durablue axles working and then others working if you use a 400ex carrier, I've tried this setup to no prevail do a search, I showed the differences in the two. Also I wouldn't recommend exchanging shocks. The only setup that seems OK is 450R fronts on a 400ex. Other than that I wouldn't switch any of them. The 450R fronts are longer than the 400ex fronts, and the 450R rear is shorter than the 400ex rear.

the stem works you just have to swap out the bushhings also.
Burgard doesnt makew a stem for the 450r they take a 400ex and give you a neww bushing. quick fix
