i have a rolling chassis of an older trx250r and was wondering what bigger 2 stroke engines i could put on there, and yes i can weld

the only thing i would attempt is a CR500 engine. but hoestly me and i have a feeling the vast majority of peeple in here are gunna tel you to put a 250R engine in it.

if u hav an 86 87 style chassis the cr500 bolts in other then having to make front motor mounts but you can do that out of a thicker gauge sheet metal, you will wand to make some delrin/polyurathane/brass bushings to absorb some of the ViBrAtIoN......

Dirt Wheels did an article on a trx250r w/ a cr500 engine, the Cafro brothers doing the change over. If I remember correctly Duncan detuned the motor abit to tame the vibration, plus balancing the crank as best as possible. The bike had a Schoonmaker 6 gallon tank and was set up for Baja racing, and was set up w/ Doug Roll Design & Development suspension (DRD&D was the precursor to Roll Design).
The only other candidate wouild be a Suzuki LT500 engine imho. Mike McGee/Charlie Lamson had either a DRD&D or C&J framed LT500 that was basically a rolling honda in the late '80s early 90's that raced Baja & HDRA.
