RMZ 450 motor for hybrid?

Any educated thoughts on using this motor for a swap into a 400EX frame? Does it make good power and have reliability? Any reason why this would not work?

You can def. make it fit into the frame, but I don't think it would work well for a quad application due to the fact that it is a 4 speed. The gearing would be very weird and you would probably run out of top end. Good for arenacross probably but I don't see that motor working well in a national.

Thats a really good point. I had forgotton it was a 4 speed. I think that was due to strength issues with a 5 speed? Probably not a good choice at all if the tranny is a possible weak link.

The 4 speed is an obvious weak link, but the RMZ450 doesn't have hardly any bottom end. Too me thats bad. I like having bottom end because I like riding on the torque curve.

many guys used the yzf426 motors with the 4 speeds. Some liked it even better.
