I own a 2002 400ex and its bored 10 over and i use either honda 1040 engine oil or KawaChem1040 engine oil. Depends on how much u use if the motor was apart or jus an oil change. Let me know what ur doing cause i have the manual and it tells how much to use.

It still amazes me the amount of people who STILL won't buy a $20 manual for their $5000 quad. It shows and tells you everyting you could possibly want to know about your quad.
I've tore mine apart 3 times top to bottom......all from looking at the manual.

LOl... I do own a manual but I was just asking becuase I wanted to know what people use..Dont get all worked up
and i wanted to know how much because my quad always seems to get over full due to the wet sump.

OK, so if you read the manual and it says 1.9 or 2.2 after dissassebly, I doubt your 400ex is any different than anyone else's so I have to believe your'e just putting too much in.
It's that simple. The ONLY way you can use more is if you have a secondary oil cooler.

It's in your manual. As long as it doesn't have "energy conserving" on the api circle label then you should be able to use it. Most synthetics ARE energy conserving and allow too much slippage between the clutch plates. You just have to look at the labels.
