i've got a 400ex with a yz400f motor and i finally cranked it up last night and i have way to much oil pressure, because it flared out the entire tank, even started leaking out the cap threads, then when installed a breather tube and its blowing out of there.
i may have a design problem or something any info would be appreciated

It should return to the tank.
Did it do this when the oil/engine got warmed up?
Sounds like you have too much oil in the tank.
Try draining 1/2 qt of oil out of the tank, for expansion room.
Also you should have a vent tube that connects to the top of the cam cover from the oil tank.
Keep us posted.

I had some what of the same problem and I still have a little weap out of the filler cap ,I have backed the amount of oil off a little bit and it has helped and the breather that ss440 was talking about I ran it back to the oil tank because if you don't it will pump oil all over the place,so you will need a little room in your oil tank for that oil.
