I am buying one or the other, which would you recommend, and why. I am upgrading from a 1987 trx 200sx (haha i know its a big step)

Yes it does, They are both so similar that it comes down to which color you like better.

Ride them both and see which one fits you the best. I chose the YFZ over the 450R because it's blue and everyone I race with has them, spare parts are very easy to find between us.

i can buy a yfz and have it painted black money is no option for me lol

Ride them both and see which one suits you better yfz owners will say buy a yfz, 450R owners will say buy a 450R, if your dealership won't let you ride one, go somewhere else then.

thanks for all your advice! I am oing to 2 dealerships buy the end of this week and riding both of them! I will post pics when i purchase, which will be by this time next week! WOO HOO I AM SO EXCITED!

be cool if you could afford one of each,
you could be one of the few to answer the question you asked.
which is better yfz or R ?
the above posts are pretty honest, they are very close in every way and the rider will make the difference between the two.
your comming off a trx, how did it treat you ?
check each and see which dealer treats you right.
just from curiosity why not toss the ltr into the hat ?
