anyone know where to get dual exhaust for a 400ex?
Posted by: ride hard man
Sweetquads.com sells LTE dual.. Dunno if its for 400ex, but give it a try or call em up.. They have a lot of stuff just not much on their site.

LTE does make (or did) make them for the 400ex. I haven't got the motor tuned correctly yet but they sound nice

Dang those look awesome, how much did they cost.. About 700? Looks good though man, I can't really see the point in em, but they do look awesome.

I bought them used for much less than retail which I think is a bit over $700. I had been interested in these for awhile and had some money when the deal came around
With my income I would never buy a new set.
IMO the benefits of this system rank:
1. Looks and uniqueness.
2. Sound level. The tone is great but i'm not convinced on the db level until I get them tested on an official db meter)
3. Performance. Like most motors the pipes should fit with desired performance desired.

Ya I can't really see spending 700 on em, bu if you got em for around half of that or so, then thats a good deal.. The reason I don't really see going with a 700 dual pipe, is because you could just go into the motor and prob. get alot more out of it then you would from pipes.. I'm not sure, but I wouldn't want to pay to much for a pipe... But it sure does look awesome.

actually somebody dynoed the duals against some singles and one of the singles produced more horsepower and torque than the duals. if i had the money to burn i would get the duals.

Ya, I'm not saying that your not going to notice anything dif. But I'm saying that I would much rather drop a cam into it, and maybe bore it out for that price..

I got the LTE's on my 416. They sound great. I did all the motor work in my sig at the same time so I don't know if the dual made a big difference. I had a full fmf titanium exhaust w/ a power bomb header before the duals.

Where do you relocate everything that's on the L side of the subframe of the quad when you install the duels? Do you get a relocation kit with the exhust kit or do you just have to find room to move everything?
Posted by: 450Rchaser
No the kit comes w/ a new airbox to relocate everything on the inside of it.

the duals are for looks . dirtwheels and atvriders did a test on it and they dont improve power.
Posted by: 450Rchaser
Probably no more power than a single exhaust.
Posted by: jdboy
Not really looking to improve the power, just thought they looked great!
Posted by: 450Rchaser
Yeah that what I thought when I got mine. There look bad@$$. They have to help performance out some, too. I think its like 6 hp, but you know how companies overrate ther products.

I'm sure it helps out quite a bit more than a single... 6 hp maybe right, but IDK..

hey 450rchaser i noticed in your sig that u have an icat spark enhancer and i was wondering if u noticed any difference in power.
Posted by: 450Rchaser
Yeah the iCat mad a diff in throttle response and torque throughout the power band of the gears. I think it is worth it
Posted by: eganracing
ok thanks
Posted by: ilpadrino113
ya the dulas look and sound great, but the singles definitelt get more power
Posted by: 400exrider720
wouldn't it be about the same price because the dual comes with the airbox that costs about $200?

the dyno says different.

Got any dyno sheets to post?
Posted by: eganracing
sorry i cant find them. ive seen them before in a magazine or on the web before. im pretty sure the difference was one or two horsepower. i feel kind of dumb because i cant find them but maybe someone else can.

Not a problem but it's good to have something to back up what is claimed
I'd like to see some real dyno runs from a motor that was built and tuned for the LTE's

Assuming you're asking how much torque the pipes add I don't know, I haven't been on a dyno

You guys should let mobile dyno test out your duals and solve the age old question "Is 2 really better then one?"
Posted by: 450Rchaser
I e-mailed them awhile back to see what upcoming events they were gonna be at, but I never got a reply.

That was on the YFZ. They make quite a bit of hp on the 400EX. I think the fact that the 400 has 2 exhausts ports and the YFZ has only one, makes all the difference. The set for the YFZ uses a "Y" pipe at the head. I had a set on my old 400ex, and they pulled much harder than my old C. Sparks X-6. Mine were not that loud though. They had a nice deep tone to them. For $700 you get an aluminum airbox also. That would put the price right around the same as others, if you subtract for a $200 aluminum airbox!
I think they're well worth the money!

Just a quick question. Does the air box come with a lid and does it have a hole for the stock snorkel?
Posted by: 450Rchaser
No, lid or place for snorkel. It has the drain plug for the airbox.
Posted by: dragracer101
dude those pipes are awesome...where did you get those
Posted by: boricua
they do look cool....much more of a sinister affect.
but that just might be the biggest difference.....looks.
maybe they work better on bigger motors who could benefit from pushing out larger volumes of air.
Posted by: 450Rchaser
sweetquads.com is where I got mine at. There are a great set of pipes.

I believe that on the dyno, I was able to put down I believe 28RWHP and 21LB/ft of torque. Gosh it's been a while, but I do know that of all the systems I have ran on a stock EX, this by far has the best pull. Torque off the bottom is great and I believe that if it were attached to a motor built with more top end and needs to breathe that it would really rip.
Want to drop a Hotcams into it with more focus on the mid-top end to see how much the exhaust will compensate for the loss at the bottom. I think that it will feel somewhat like a stronger version of the stocker's power curve.
