Well..i was at St. Joe and put the defintion of SPANKING on two ltr's with baffles out and one had a cherry bomb and was running 20 inch tires, and i thought the person with 20's must of had off gearing but he said he dropped a tooth in the front....just wanted to let you guys know that the z400 can be made in to a yfz/trx/ltr eater..

Amen, but atleast hes banned now, but I'm sure he'll be back

The funny part is......he's right! I've seen a Z/KFX's that will eat them for lunch! Buddah's 435 Dab ported bullet, and Hanson0429's 510 rocketship to be exact! That's in a straightline though. Not on an mx track.

Quad magazine had nothing but praise for the LTR. It actually won their 450 shootout and dominated in almost every category. Whether they are objective or not, I don't know, but I have really liked their mag the best.

Every magazine shootout had the Suzuki winning.

he may be right and he may not be right but i saw a piped yfz beat a ltr in a drag race down in waynoka a couple weeks ago. but you never kno the guy on the ltr may not have know wat he was doing.

as far as the ltr450 goes what ive heard is performance wise they shouldnt be much faster than a yfz or a 450r, the thing that is the best about them is the wider wheelbase, race ready suspension, lower center of gravity, and fuel injection. they were never meant to be able to blow away other 450's in drags, but they blow away other 450's stock v. stock on a mx track.

If I remember currect in my dirtwheels they rated very fair. As in none was a clear cut winner of a quad. I know the yfz they said had much better and more overall power. So that was a fair rating.

I Have the dIRTwheels Mag and Everyone agreed that they would choose the LTZ-450 Over the YFZ and Honda 450....Same in Quad Mag! ThE SUzUKI WAS the clear cut winner in both SHootouts. I have Both Magz!It was a Unanimous Decision!

My DAB Racing Athena will lay the smackdown on an LTR. Buddahs DAB RAcing Yoshi 450z will smackdown his own LTR in the weeds.. It's so not even close we don't even bother making a video. I could though for all the non believers as we are unbiased.. The gearing for the LTR is aweful for dunes and paddles, but that will change as sprockets become avaliable..

I am tapped in 4th on the Athena w/ stock gearing.. I have the Cannondale shirt..

Use a little common sense. I'll admit I don't know too much about motors, but have been learning about it and the kinds of 4wheelers over the past year. They aren't saying it is a dune machine. So don't knock it down for something it isn't exactly designed for. They even say its a mx ready machine. Once again not a dune ready machine. I'm sure it could easily be made into a decent duner though. But all these which is faster is all worthless. Find something you like, don't always worry if one beats it by a second, who cares. Ride have a blast and be happy you have an atv.

competition will live forever.............
its what drives everyone to the next level.
its why suzuki made the ltr450 (to compete with honda/yamaha)
honda/yamaha are not "claiming race ready" but you will have a hard time finding a mx/xc race with out them in it.
its the reason they have bracket drag races, so slower ones can
compete also.
most people know that their going to lose sometime, and most know they will win sometimes also.
we have all seen utilities drag race, they even tt race them
I think that anyone afraid to use their machine for something its not specially designed for is robbing themselves of a possible WIN. (you think the mini 50's where designed for adult mx)
I say drag race that 250r, jump that utility, mud bog that sport atv
and dune that ltr. And have a good time.

let get one thing straight....

z435 vs yfz450 vs 450r vs ltz450 in MX ... the better rider would win no matter what bike he's on.

and people that dont know how to ride fast/drag race, WILL LOSE EVERYTIME.

So, don't forget to factor in the rider at least 50%

sounds like you got yourself a firebreathing 435 tho, nice!

I have a full MX CT Racing z453 and have raced all three 450's out there. On a MX track, its not always power that wins. You have rhythm and comfort, etc... Obviously in drag racing, given two equal riders though, powers the winner. ANyway, since this is about the LTR, I've beat them and lost to them. What people notice and are shocked about is when they go over my z to see the set up, they notice i run the same 14/36 gearing on 18's as the LTR. I have just as good bottom as them and pull just as hard on top. I love the power curve. It pulls and never stops. I use second the whole time on the track I race at with gettin into third only on the holeshot. Its great not shifting so much, but still being able to come outta turns hard. Well instead of writing a long rambling post, I'll leave it at the Z450's still aren't dead and can still compete with the rest of the 450 class!

Posted by: 450rJam

what is the z435 or z450? are we talking about z400 with big bore ?
TMSmx47 has good point, not always the most hp wins even in a drag race there are other factors like suspension, tires, gearing etc.

Posted by: TMSmx47

Thanks 450rJam.. But to answer your question, z450 is a z400 with a big bore and sometimes like the YOSH z450 is also stroked a little bit. Like my CT Racing z450 is all bore. Its equal to a 06 450r. I have 96mm bore and 62.6mm stroke. 12.1:1 compression. Most or All the power comes from the head as with any 4-stroke. 450r is the same. 96x62mm and 12.1:1 stock. those are just a couple examples real quick that show that the Z's are still alive in competition.
