So what does everyone run? I want something durable and lots of clearence.

Durable and clearance don't go together in the world of aluminum.
PRM has a .25" thick XC skid that is very nice but very heavy, and it does cut down clearance a little. If you don't want something so beefy maybe look at Lonestar's stainless skid?
