why do the motors always blow up on the yfz
my brothers blew up a couple days ago and i have heard allot of people complain about that so what is up with that

By blew up what do you mean? Did the rod come through the case? I'm just wondering I've never really seen a problem other than what was caused buy poor care. How many hours were on the quad? Just saying it blew up is no help to anyone. We need all the details.

by blown up i mean the wrist pin seizing up and then breaking the conecting rod which then wrecks the sleeve and stuff and doing damage to crank and smashing a million times back into the piston, i have heard more reports of this happening

and we did change the oil in it frequently and it was not because of poor care cause there is no way in the world it could have been.

What were you doin when this had happened? How long have you had it?

I dont know what you guys are doing to your quads for them to "Blow" up? I have an 04, and I must know atleast 10 other guys I ride with at the track with their YFZ's and they haven't had catastrophic failure.

I have heard people on the net complaining about wristpins not recieving enough oil. There is a mod that can be done for about $65.

Have you ever changed out your oil screen? http://home.earthlink.net/~supersaturdays/id20.html
This is also some of the reason why guys bikes aren't getting enough oil. This is exspecially true if you have a stock style foam filter. Those things allow grass and such to clog up that filter and limits your oil flow. Like another stated above... I have an 04 and am still riding to this day

yeah we changed it everytime we changed the oil
but how in the world do you get grass in your motor that just cant be healthy i can see dirt but grass is crazy

once a week change the oil. ever time you ride clean the filter. check oil. ever 80 hours get valves done. i forgot to clean my filter once and i blew mine up

OKAY, the yfz has a good track record so far and I don't know what the heck you guys are doing to cause them to "blow up" but it's got to be something like holding it WOT for a long time or something....

I dont think the YFZ's have had problems with blowing motors. Alot of the time a blown motor happens when you have a stock rod and a ton of engine mods.
