hunting and farming on sport quads?

I do some hunting and have always used a friends foreman with a winch (wich has come in real handy) We usually ride in to a spot and then chain the quad to a tree. I was at the news stand today and saw an article in a magazine where they put a winch on a yfz450. That got me thinking. I want to purchase a yfz450 or 450r anyways so why not use it for hunting? I also have a old yamaha 350 4x4 that is about to take a crap that we use on a horse ranch to feed and haul crap. I was thinking that with a hitch and a rack on it that i wouldnt even need a 4x4 utility quad since I never really use 4x4 anyways. Has anyone ever done/seen/heard of this? Do they make things like racks and stuff for sport quads, or am I living in a dream land?

i seen that article.im lookin into the winch for my 400ex as me and my buddy love playing in the mud and without a 4x4 with us it sux trying to get them unstuck.i usually have a tow rope or chain on mine for if we get stuck one of us can yank the other out of the mudhole.there are cooler and gas can racksfor sport quads.i see them on ebay all the time or you canmake yourown.

I have a 400ex and am buying a rear rack to mount my bag off my old atv on and i have a set of gunracks that can mount to my handlebars. I personally think you will be fine hunting on a sport quad.

I have a old friend that does hunt with a 400 ex. He made his own rack out of round tubing and plywood. I have an atv magazine picture of a sport quad wit a winch on it going through water.

sounds like a good idea to me there are companies that make racks for sports quads like what u would find on a 4X4 not just the cooler racks

it woudnt be a bad idea as long as you dont have any exhaust upgrades, that'd be a deft. morning ender.

well, if ur going to buy a sport quad, buy anything but a yfz, those bikes are made specificaly for racing, my friend was talking to a guy about em, and if you plan to use it for anything but racing its not going to work, and i suspect the same thing with the 450r, so if you want sanything, get like a 300ex or like a 400ex, theyre made for all around riding so that would work way better than a yfz

Even though the yfz is more focused towards MX I dont believe that makes it a bad trail quad, its just not its strong suit. I am looking at buying one cause everyone I ride with has either a yfz, 450r, or a z400. I plan on taking whatever I purchase to the track and also to the sand, so the 300 and 400ex are just not enough for my all around needs. Also I have never been on a trail where a 300ex would be a better quad to have then a yfz or 450r.

if you go to rockymountainatv.com there are atv racks for 88 dollars and are made for most sport atvs.
