If you take a Motorcycle Engine and put it on an ATV Frame it becomes a hybrid, which is not legal for GNCC Youth.

That is why I must wait for the Typhoon 125 or another 125cc ATV, in order to be legal.

Sure, I know some people cheat and protest are pretty rare, but I want to stay legal.

converts them from a 2 speed to a 4 speed. different air intake, different main jet and air jet for carb.

you can't just swap the top end, the crank has to be changed as well. It's not a simple take one off put one on deal. Also the pins come wih the quad to change it to a 3 or 4 speed depending on model, it's not a big conversion kit.

i'll let you know on the typhoon 90 soon. a friend of mine is picking his up from wrh racing tomorrow and it will come straight to my house. i am putting the wrh 105 big bore kit on for him.

Where is the airbox on them. Looking to build the 125 into a GNCCer if there not to wide. At 42" it's not much wider then our Honda.

No air "box" just a foam filter.

We had our Typhoon out for some testing. I will say so far it is definitely the best out of the box mini I have seen yet, in its price range. No its not up to the Cobras performance out of the box but they are way better than any of the others are STOCK. I am working on A-arms, swing-arm, exhaust, an air box and a few other items allready. The engines are very similiar to the Honda motors I have been building allready so I am ready to go with making some very good power out of them. I will have it at the NEATV-MX race at Capeway this weekend if anyone would like to come bye and check it out. Only the 70s and 90s are in, the 125s are not available yet but are coming soon. They tell me another few weeks before they are here.

I'm in Australia and already have the 125.....we dont have the 90 yet???? it came with a ton of literature. Searching through the documentation the motor is rated at 8.4hp @ 7500

Hey got a question on the 70cc 4 stroke Typhoon . What class is this quad going to have to race in . Are they going to be able to race in the 50cc class ? Just wondering cause most of the classes are set up for cc limits on the 2 strokes and this is a 4 stroke . The 70cc 4 stroke should be equal to the 50cc 2 stroke just like the 90cc 2 stroke is to the 125cc 4 stroke . Have yall heard anything on this

The 90 will have a tough time running with 50 2-strokes, it's going to take a bit of work to make them competitive.

well i havent had much time to check it out. the suspension is good, goes where you point it, stops on a dime with the front and rear hydro disc brakes. didnt get to see it in action much as we have had rain for 4 or 5 days now. i will see 3 tomorrow. i have my friends in the back of my truck and am headed to billy holts in the morning to check his sons new one out, his is blue. still havent put the 105 kit in the one in my truck as he is having the head ported right now. as far as being slow they are pretty fast, not a built 2 stroke. all the doubters need to remember this motor is a honda copy so you can make it run just as good or better than a honda trx 90/125. also you already have the dual a-arms, good brakes, nerf bars and tires and rims. will keep you posted, billy and i plan on doing a little playing with these 3 this weekend.

ok had fun with the typhoons today. i like the blue over the orange. all 3 are 90's. the 70' s are hard to get.. we put the pin for 4th gear in 2 today and put in hi volume oil pumps. finally rode one, the suspension is good expecially the one with the rear fox shock but stock shocks are better than on any other mini i have seen. lots of travel and adjustable caster and camber on the front a-arms. pipe sounds good, deep throaty sound, pretty quick for a 88cc 4 stroke, but like i said not a built 90cc 2 stroke. remember these are stock motors but big bores and porting will be the next step. i will make sure i take my camera tomorrow and take lots of pics.

the only thing in concrete right now for atva is the 125 and 90 can run in the 90 junior and senior class just like the honda trx 90 or the honda built 90 to a 125. nothing on letting the 90 run the 70 class or the 70 in the 50 class. i would imagine that will be addressed after this years nationals and rules for next year are being discussed.

i will say this. this is the best bang for the buck out there, no $7000 cobra but from what i have seen so far there is nothing else out there that compares in the suspension, frame, tires and wheels and extras you have to add to other minis.

I have the Oz evail unit and our 125 stock is "in transit". I also have a bunch of schematics and other doc's that came with the Typhoon. Heel guards are not mentioned anyware; they also look like a last minuite add-on...........delays???????

P.S. mine also came with a twist throttle but I think our "stock" will be like yours whenever it arrives.

How is the rear shock on there i dont understand

if you look under the silencer you will see the bottom of the shock. the top mount for the shock is under the seat. it uses a 10 inch shock. 2 of these quads had a fox rear shock on them. they also have a fox shock for the front. the front shocks are 12 inches and the fox shock is 10 inches but the shaft is 3/4 inch longer than the stock 12 inch shock which means more wheel travel. brackets to put the fox shock on the front are on their way.

We got to run the Typhoon 70cc quad yesterday against the DRR50 and they are a pretty even match out of the box . The Drr 50cc actually was a little faster off the line but unmodified they are pretty even . It is a sweet little mini quad and it looks to be the most race ready mini out of the box for the money . Lots to work with . I have been talking to the local dealer here in Texas and he has lots of things you can get to modify this quad . The 70 cc you can get a 88cc kit to make it a 90cc and the 90cc has a kit you can make it a 107cc . Also you can get 125cc a replacment engine and all of the quads are the same frame so any of the engines 70cc, 90cc, 107cc, 125cc will fit . This is great so you can run the same quad for severel years and classes if they hold up . This means you don't have to buy a new quad every time you are ready to move up to another mini class

Yeah....because it's a pit bike motor there are so many parts available, Hi comp piston, 3 valve head, 4 valve head......you name it.

Hey everyone,

my name is Rey and i am an Xtreme Dealer in AZ. I have just started to carry the Xtreme line and it is because of forums like this where i hear the truth about the products rather than the projected performance of the Typhoon.

Based on the information obtained here and other forums i will be personally purchasing a 125 typhoon for my daughter (Liz 10yrs old) who turned out to our amazement to be a good little rider. she is very excited about receiving her 125 typhoon at the end of August. She sits and read the specs and compares it to the other products out there.

Pre-orders are going fast for this month. however, for next month they are good (125cc)

I contacted xtreme yesterday and they sent a reply that the sales department would get back to me in a few days. But so far no info. My local dealer doesn't seem to know anything either.

Xtreme has several containers with the 125 on board and i was told by the distributor that the containers arriving at the end of August are dedicated to pre-orders made by dealers to fill for their customers. another set of containers will be arriving early part of september which, depending on pre-orders will be available to dealers to floor.

I hope this information will help out. oh, and last time i spoke to Xtreme on Friday i took the last units off the first container for customer pre-orders.

Racing breaks things. Parts availability is very important.

kenny at k-fab said he is already working on a-arms,nerf bars, ect.

with any of my products i usually carry 10% replacement parts. i carry all the wear items first and what I think or my customers think I should carry.

I did not ask Xtreme when the parts for the Typhoons would be getting in. However, when i was askeing about another product line i was told the parts container had arrived before the units got to the warehouse.

I am happy about working with Xtreme and my experience, although limited at this point, has been impressive. i feel this company has proven to me and their customers that they intend to stay for the long haul and not just try and make the fast buck. I am impressed that they have been in the same business for 15 years.

I am highly reputable, it has taken me a long time to earn the trust of my customers. i will always be straight forward with people.

I have a few questions about the 125's. How tuff are the engines? I know there a Honda knock off but I don't believe they will be as dependable as the Honda. Also where is the airbox located? We are considering building a couple for XC racing. But I was also hearing thet the tranny's are weak. And Mikey really rips the gears hard. Just wondering if they will withstand the pressure.

I just talked to Xtreme and they said at the best Aug. 20, at worst like the 2nd week of Sept. It seems like empty promises, but im sure it will be worth it.
125, bigger, badder, faster, and tougher. At least that is what Pete said!

I wonder if they will need the same mods like the 90's?

This is a misconception many people have about the Honda engine vs. the "Knock-off". please do not get me wrong, Honda has an excellent quality control program to have earned this type of trust. I argee with you, in fact i have owned several lines of honda products myself. this is all due to their reputaion and my experience.

I will say the companies I have been fortunate enough to work with have proven that they do have dependable, reliable, and great quality Honda "Knock-Off" engines.
If anyone is upset with the disposable Hoinda "Knock-off" engines it is me. this is beacause i have had people come up to me and told me the Thumpstar, SDG's and Xtreme pit pikes I stock are cheap poor quality disposable bikes.

the above listed companies have worked very hard in maintaining a high level of quality and dealer support. unfortunately it is difficult to undo the damage caused by those who imported and took delivery of low quality bikes.

I do see that there are some real top of the line quality products coming out of China and I see the Chineese companies in the same possition as Japan was in their motorcycle infancy. I feel that distributors will search out the companies that practice quality manufacturing and the other low quality manufacturers will fall to the wayside.

If the engines are anything like the ones on the Xtreme pit bike and are of the same quality, then you and I have nothing to worry about. they have proven to be a consistant performer.

I love the fact that these engines are going to be compatible with XR50 parts. just look at the mini pit bike racing that has taken the country by storm. You have riders like Mike Brown, Mike Levitt, Ricky Carmichael, and Jeremy McGrath. these proffessional riders and commpanies have made these machines into some wonderfully powerful race winners.

With this type of engine the tuning combinations are endless.

on the topic of the transmission, I did hear Xtreme has outfitted the typhoons with the Cooper transmission. The airfilter is located right over the engine mounted on the carb itself.

You might be able to locate a remote air filter in the battery box and do away with electric start if it comes with one.

Rey, Thanks for the info. Helped me out. On the airbox thing I built one for our Cat that is bulletproof so I guess I can do it again. I just don't trust the outerwears all by itself. If you can't hit a creek pinned wide open then it's not race ready. In an hour woods race with waterholes a foot deep and creeks a foot deep is a different thing.

I'm sure these mini's will be worth sinking some bucks into. Just wish they would get here.

This is why I was wondering where the air box is. This would kill a carb with just an outerwears for cover!

Well, there is little accurate information lately. I have been told they would arrive the end of July, but with the experiences that I have had with other companies, I always add about 4 weeks on. There always seems to be some hang-up that happens. I just don't want to say that "they will be in next week", and next week say "Oh, next week". It really wrecks your credibility. I would much rather give a longer date and be able to call and say "they are in"! In a small town like ours, if you put people off, bad news travels really fast. I realize that my answer is about as clear as mud, but if I hear anything, I'll post to let you know. Remember that there are differences in ship time too.
