An inspection of my frame reveald 2 cracks in the upper frame motor mount. Those brackets that are on the frame under the gas tank each have a crack in them.

The 2004 400ex has about 400 hrs on it and I ride the dunes. I am somewhat aggresive but not nearly as much as some. A typical jump is 3 feet high and 12 feet long (My max was 6 feet high and 35 feet).

Is that too much for the frame to handle? Or... are those mounts just a known weak spot? I'm having the thing welded.

stock shocks i suppose,mine cracked there from HARD riding also in a couple of other spots.check by your footpegs,front upper shock mounts.that is other places to inspect. get it welded and powder coated.ya might want to check into getting a gusset kit for it.

common problem. i have had mine welded, need to be rewelded.
