Is their a way to bypass the reverse rev limiter on a 300ex or a 250x?

???

How fast do you need to go in reverse

It would be helpful because when u get stuck and try backng up the revlimiter hits right when u start moving.

Common subject.. but I honestly don't know of a way.

It is there for a good reason.. but I do agree it could be 1000 rpms higher without being unsafe and being a lot more useful. Sometimes you need just a little more wheelspin to get loose.

Actually there is a way to remove the reverse limiter completely but it also removes the forward rev limiter as well. If you PM 2muchquad maybe he will give you the details of the mod. He sent me the instructions but I haven't tried it out yet. I plan to pick up a used CDI to try it out with. I would post the info but I'm not sure if he would want me too. Seems like an easy mod though.

Ahh.. that is possible. I thought they were seperate.. but I have not delt with the inner workings of the CDI.

I honestly don't know if they are seperate circuits but according to the instructions I was given you only have to drill out one spot on the CDI circuit board to remove the forward and reverse rev limiters. I really would prefer to be able to remove just the reverse limiter but I haven't found a way yet. It would be nice to have full power in reverse to get out of a mudhole.

Is their a way to disconnect the wires that tells the CDI it's in reverse. Because when your in reverse you can't start it. So if I make the CDI think it's still in neutral it should work.

Sounds like it could work. You may lose the reverse light or it could affect something else. Not sure what wire you would have to cut though.

all u have to do is cross the reverse and neutral sensor on side of motor it fix my havent had any problams my wires had worn spots on both from boots rubing and got together an bypassed rev lime.

Did you lose the revers/neutral light with this mod? Do you mean you just reversed the wires on the right side of the engine?

There is a way to remove the reverse limiter. I know it's not very hard, I did it on mine. As far as I know, it didn't remove my forward rev limiter. I wouldn't know though, I shift before it gets that high. Kinda dumb to remove the rev limiter on a stock motor anyways, since they stop making power before you even get to the rpm that its limited to.

How did you do it? Also, does crossing the wires actually work?

still had the lights and yes it worked

I wish I could rememeber exactly what we did to remove it. I could prolly take a look and be able to tell you. I know it wasn't very hard. I'm pretty sure all it required was making a ground to the frame, and then splicing a couple of wires. We figured it out when we were trying to hunt down an electrical problem on my quad. But, the good thing about it was that it allowed me to rev up the bike more in reverse, and it was just a little more weight I could shave off the quad.
