i have a 05 400ex and looking pretty soon to jet it, pipe it, and do some k&n. i have a question about the pipe, should i get a slip or a full exhaust and what would be best for just riding around in the dirt, dunes, etc... just general riding

if your not going to do any mods to the engine a slip-on should be fine. i recomend LRD, Yoshimura, Curtis sparks

I also have an '05 trx400ex. My future modifications are 5 gal tank, front rec elkas and thunder alley exhaust. Everyone that has one says its the best exhaust. They're hand made and made when you order it.
